It’s there, but gotta love that RNG.
Last time I played it, actually caught a competent team and we ran it smooth, but down to the wire; lots of fun.
I get several train matches a day in rotation. Still find it fun. Always look for one before doing a QP. And the beauty of a smaller map is like we had in V1 with against the grain and black powder, you can jump in for a quick match. And a loss in an 11 min window might be an ass, but a lot less of an ass than getting a 45 minute havoc struggle aborted near the exit (or my Tuesday xD).
Plus that soundtrack keeps you moving!
The train was initially a ballbuster but after the extension to its timer and a seeming reduction in the most aggravating spawns I’ve got no problems with it.
I want more Operations honestly. More stuff to tie in to the ‘main story’.
What? I thought there were at least 100 employees responsible for updating and maintaining DT.With the Emperor above, it’s no wonder the Ministry of Internal Affairs operates more efficiently and updates faster than DT.
Fatshark has seven executive-level PR and Marketing positions but can’t get them to actually post anything. There is currently no Darktide-exclusive CM, and I believe only two or three CMs for the whole company total.
Apply this to the entire company.
Even if there’s 100 ‘employees’ on Darktide (which I doubt) I’d bet money at least half of them don’t do things we’d recognize as ‘working on the game’.
If you’ve ever seen Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley, it gives a fun parody of what the tech industry is like. As FS grew with staff, they HAD to employ more suits, more people to cater to investors, PR people to avoid even frivolous lawsuits etc. and every time a marketing guy comes back from a holiday summit, they have a whole buncha new rules the company has to follow for fear of drifting away and displeasing money men. It all goes further than the indie team of devs who just wanna make a game. One example- so many bleated for those servers. V2’s ping issues were too much for some, so they got the servers, but that comes with a cost. It was rumoured they lost 50% of staff and allocated the remains to each game- which are V2, DT and a 3rd experimenting with the Unreal engine. I’m not making excuses for their lack of communication, which again I think is a product of all those extra suits (Imagine having somebody over your shoulder telling you what you can and can’t say all day, or respond to, and with the EU encroaching their text trace laws, even a brainfart deleted before posting could be a trigger for trouble in the future). But if folk think there’s 100 people level designing, programming and arting etc all day, they’re probably wrong.
Seriously if you haven’t watched Silicon Valley in all this time, MJ wrote it so well that even with it’s excitement for now dated tech, it illuminated the shlitshow of the industry well enough, one can have a little more understanding when it comes to the actual game devs. Aside from Homicide games of course… F that guy xD IYKYK.
If you have time throughout the day to camp the mission screen enough to get the missions you want, that’s great for you, but when the design of the mission screen means that statistically I don’t get to see a significant chunk of maps when I play, there’s something pretty wrong with its design.
Didn’t the Steam Update Notes for the Grim Protocols Update last year say that it was only like 2-3 people in total who worked on the Weapons which took them multiple months for like..three Weapons? No surprise then that it now took almost an entire year to get a new Veteran Weapon and looks like its just going to be a single one…most likely just an Power Sword but with Relic Heat Mechanic
Game is just on Life Support by nothing more than ~five people since its launch. And those handful of people then also take half the year off on Vacation
That’s a false representation, fella. I do not have time to camp. I work, look after a kid, have a bigger IRL than online life now. Still had plenty of trains. Perhaps I just got lucky? Never “camped” the screen. Played a match, saw a train and done fast enough to fit a second run in before the map rotated. Played one or two then noticed another train and played…
And I said I agreed the maps should be just added without the rotation system. Even liked the hashtag above #Freethelevels. Read before misrepresenting somebody. Gn.
DT should be FS’s most profitable project currently, but there are only five people responsible for managing it?I’m completely unable to comprehend FS’s project management approach.
Game could easily be the most succesful / played PvE out there without much effort but well here we are, if bare minimun is enough why do more
Sorry, I misinterpreted it by assuming it meant you were playing all day.
Nah fella. I wish xD
on the topic of maps - whats everyones biggest desires for new maps?
I’d love to see some giant plantlife somehow, or perhaps a vast mine complex with loads of weird organic alien fungi or something.
I really want to see stuff that couldn’t be mistaken for earth. Like that planet in Killzone with all the alien plants.
If I had to choose an existing biome for new map priority then it would be the hourglass because it has such a cool vibe and feels so different to all the other 50 shades of grey biomes.
I would like to see things in the upper spires. Excessively fancy baroque or art decor architecture, parklands and private grounds filled with exotic plants and whimsical or eccentric flourishes (like BS Johnson’s landscaping features form Discworld). Contrast that with the utilitarian passages, thoroughfares and facilities meant for menials and other workers.
Yeah that would be pretty cool!
Dishonored did that kind of juxtapose quite well in places.
There was a sci-fi horror game called Echo that did the baroque style really well .
Sounds cool! I’ve not seen it but will check it out thanks.
I think I’m yearning for stuff that is not strictly manmade though. I want to see some biology or geology that wouldn’t be possible on earth. Basically stuff that feels like an alien world.
Cities/hives/buildings could be anywhere. But seeing alien flora/fauna/geology etc would make it feel really different.
Like some distant battery outpost in the wilderness of the planet that is needed to be rebooted (or flooded!) for X reason to help the battle in Tertium.
I’m really hoping the big expansion or whatever will be the second hive city with a gene-stealer cult faction. That is a bit of a Monkey’s Paw wish as the beastmen addition to VT2 literally made me quit and never come back, lmao.
The thing I doubt will happen but I dream of would be seeing chaos and bugs go at it occasionally in that second city as your running your mission.
That would be epic but let’s face it, at this rate we’ll be lucky if we get a new frame, let alone a new hive city
