When do you guys think vet will get a 2 handed melee?

i get that he’s a vet and doesn’t need one by ya’lls standerds but its the same with ogryn, the ogryn didn’t need any 2 handed melee but he got the picks so don’t say that vet shouldn’t get the same treatment. anyway, i feel like the vet should get a 2 handed shovel that has the same animations as the bayonets or a large sword that has sweeping attacks. tbh, maybe vet should get a pickaxe too.

I don’t know and personally I’m not looking forward to it cause I don’t like slow builds. (Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t make one though)

Doesn’t mean vet can’t also get a two-hander, maybe they can use my ole oggie shovel now that I have this nice new pick :slight_smile:

We don’t know who the Turtolsky 2H Power Sword will be for. I hope Zealot AND Veteran get it…

I do not think it’ll be soon.
Veteran is not really melee focused class, so the chances are pretty low that we will even get big weapons

my guy, no class is souly focused on melee, it all depends on how you build the class you play.

Yes, I agree that there’s is no class that solely focused on melee or on range, because all of current Archetypes can use and equip both melee and ranged, but I do not agree with your statement about it depending on build, while I understand what you are trying to say, I can not agree that Build and Class dictates which type(ranged or melee) of weapon you can use, at least for now.

I didn’t say that Veteran is “solely focused on ranged”, I said the he isn’t “melee focused class”.

I think that some really cool gun would be much more desirable for the Vet, and it may delay any thought for 2-handed melee weapon for the Veteran, simply because people who play Vet will like the new Gun more, then melee weapon.
This, however, does not mean that the possibility of getting a 2-handed melee weapon equals Zero, it just means that it may not come soon, and is not on Fatshark’s to-do list, because there are not many people who ask for it.

Also, what you said about Ogryn - that was wierd and I can not not disagree with you on that.

With all that, I think any new additions to the weapon choice would be good, not matter what will be added(I just want the weapon to be fun to use)

It’s less about melee vs ranged, and more about themes.

I think both Vet and Zealot will have 2h Power Swords, but not the same family, each having it’s own category.

As for other Vet only melee (Or Vet Priority) weapons:

  • Hunting Lance: Spears with either explosive charges (Krak, Frag, Plasma, or Melta) or Power/Shock fields (Only War)
  • Cavalry Saber: Power Swords (Only War|Rough Riders)
  • Refractor shields: Power shields (Only War|Rough Riders)
  • Brontian Sword: 2h Mono edge sword
  • Power Fist

I cannot see them being added as viable weapons as they’re one use weapons.

Ideally, top of the list for me would be Power Fist, Military Sabre (see image below) and a Power Sword version. Currently you can do it with the Extended Weapon Customisation mod and it looks gooooooood. So good. Favourite Veteran melee weapon now.

As far as 2H weapons go, we do have examples of Guard using them. Sergeant Stone of the Inquisitor 54mm skirmish game had what was described as a Duelling Glaive, and the Guardsman has the same option in the Inquisition retinue box released last year. I believe there are other visual examples out there, but this is the one that sticks in my head. A form of halberd or glaive would be excellent, having a nice range advantage as its shtick.

A short rant about the new Rough Rider Frag lance design that is not of any importance to the discussion but I cannot help myself. You miss little by not reading it.

I know, I know, this is really nit picky and steps aside from the ‘rule of cool’, but they would have to be the old shaped charge ones, which push the explosion forward, not the new Frag type that would create an explosive shockwave and fragmentations into a cloud around the target that the rider and their mount are next to, eviscerating them both and the target. Whoever signed off on the design knows what frag grenades look like but does not understand how they work.

Who would ride into combat so suicidally? “Here’s your lance. It will kill your target. And you and your mount, but that is a price we’re willing to pay.” I know there is no friendly fire in the tabletop game or in Darktide, but the design is so stupid it is both ridiculous and so frustrating.

Shock Hunting Lance wouldn’t have that issue, and there could be ‘weaker’ Plasma and Melta pattern that also don’t break the lance, but have to be reloaded/recharged manually.

Honestly it’s workable
