It would be cool to start seeing some heavy weapons come in. Maybe even throw in some Storm Trooper Cosmetics. Start with the Hell Guns for Vets and Heavy Flamers for the Zealots. Oh and complete with backpacks. Maybe Tread Feffers (Rocket Launchers) for Ogryns.
Yea, with the recent announcement of the IG Codex I think darktide may have missed the mark to introduce weapon teams or something within coherency of the release.
I would love if Vets/Rejects could team up to get a mortar working or heavy lasgun/stubber/etc. Similar to Helldivers where weapons can be used with 1 person then dramatically increase in efficiency and fire-rate because of a 2nd teammate helping.
I really would like Vet to get a new ranged weapon ASAP, but the past additions make me think its going to be a melee weapon. There were 3 major archetypes of melee added for the other 3 in the last 2 updates (pickaxe, force greatsword, relic powersword). We may have to emotionally prepare for another shovel or a pick for Veteran before we get the goods.
But yeah, Helgun was missing at launch as far as I’m concerned.
Lol I just realized I misspelled Helgun. I agree and I think we are fine with Melee weapons. Unless of course they gave us Knuckle Dusters and we just punched the crap out of Chaos. That would be fun for a minute.
All will be forgiven if it’s something fun and 40k-ish, like a powerfist.
Well Yarrick got his Power Claw. He’s an imp and we’re inquisition. Our boss should only want the best for us.
I just want Veteran to get a 2-Handed Weapon… it’s the only Archetype without any…
I’d rather a Spear of some kind, but Power Fists would be EXTREMELY easy to implement.
You see Ogryn’s Grenade Gauntlet? Remove the ability to aim and shoot, then replace it with the ability to block, push and push attack. Special Attack should do the same approximate thing as Thunder Hammers’ Special Attack, while keeping the “Grenade Punch” animation from the Grenade Gauntlet. On top of all that, just make it a little bit stronger in terms of Damage to bring it up to scratch.
Then you reskin it and BAM! Power Fist. You could even give Ogryn a bigger one if GW says “Yes”, after all.
That and I think it’d be reeeeeeally funny if the Veteran got the fist weapon first.
I just want the vet to be a vet, meaning ranged weapons. (I know lore wise Melee is fine but it is mainly the ranged arche type in this game)

A power fist is unlike anything else in the game because it’s usually strapped to the user’s arm or shoulder. It would be relatively difficult to switch weapons while wearing one as you can’t just put it away like other weapons. I’m sure it would clip through all the character models and be a complete pain in the bum to model
The power klaw Yarrick had was literally a captured Ork weapon he was using for psychological effect. No Orks on Atoma (that we know of) so no power klaws hanging around

I personally want them to rework exe stance to have its current nodes built-in with instead the outer nodes being what specialty weapon you want. No points, just your ranged weapon, maybe a point or two you end up with hotshot lasgun (ap horde clear) or a heavy stubber (horde clear/suppresion) or a long las sniper rifle (elite/special sniping). Basically, engineer ult from vermintide but with darktide flavor. Give the ranged specialty class a bigger gun to stand out more.
I was expecting hellguns from the very beginning. I think I’m all for it, no need to even say it.
I’d better write how I see this weapon taking into account the game’s realities.
A rapid-fire lasgun with increased damage in normal mode. Effective against all targets up to and including flak armor. A special attack switches the mode to semi-automatic, with a low rate of fire, but high damage and penetration, the so-called hotshot, which is effective against all targets, including carapace.
Yarrick 1v1ed a ork warboss lost his arm in the fight and claimed the warboss’s power claw after he killed it
So unless we start losing limbs and fighting ork warbosses I don’t see that happening
they should add hotshot las, and melta guns while they are at it. Both of those weapons have had weapon icons since beta, its nuts we havent seen them yet.
