I still want either a veteran subclass or unqiue class

to get more specific than the title, i want a either gunlugger or maybe more like ratling style vet who perhaps gets access to all vet guns and even more SELF ammo regen than vet at the cost of team support abilites as well as EVEN MORE ranged dmg but only can use 2 weapons and the second weapon has to be one of the pistol style weapons. right now especially i want a vet who runs around with a bolt gun AND bolt pistol just blowing those d*mn heretics a new a**hole like there was no tomorrow!

as for an idea for implementation specifically thats easier than a new class, i would love to see a new keystone branch that either has the aura ability to the keystone be what changes your vet to ONLY be able to use ranged weaponry.

I just want any Class(Archetype), I really do not care who will it be at all, but it will be funny if that would be Ratling. Just some little(little’er) dude running around Ogryns.

As for your suggestion, while it is really cool, it will be pretty hard to balance it with Darktide’s focus on melee, and it will be more like: “How do we make this Archetype(Class) not as oppresive for other players on the team, so they can enjoy the game regardless of their Archetype?”.

I’d absolutely play a vet subclass that foregoes a melee weapon in favour of a second ranged weapon.

fair and honestly, i would say maybe this could be made a keystone for one thing to ensure there is extra investment needed to already cull some of its potential for tyranny while also not giving bonuses to dmg as it could be made a second keystone for specifically the executioners stance also locking you into spending A LOT to get to it OR forcing you to use executioners stance with the keystone DRASTICALLY boosting reload speed and firing speed as its extra boosts perhaps with elite kills stacking to the one elite kill, reload speed buff there is encouraging the pure gun vet to basically be a hardline elite and ranged killer who would probably favor weapons like the lasguns with high mag capacity, fire rate, and TTK allowing for the upkeep of executioners stance as its the only way to maintain solid dmg for yourself.

You should’ve gotten here 12 months ago.

Since then the changes have made it clear that FS don’t want what you’ve suggested in their game, I’m sorry. Their opinion is that the game should have characters that do both range and melee.

Still. You can ask! GL!

rifle and a nade launcher

gg

elite picking is a team job thats honestly needed with the difficulty boost ESPECIALLY with the stronger ranged units so making a class dedicated to that who hangs behind or in the middle of the group hard focusing literally all ranged units is honestly pretty important especially given how ranged enemies now adays treat our big friendly melee ogryns and zealous and fanatical zealots.

Kasrkin pls
Or really any sort of scion/stormtrooper

I really dont think we should lean any further into anything that promotes selfish playstyles. Anything that doesnt have at least some team orientation isnt healthy for the game imo (in reference to loner)

Veteran should have been able to swap out underbarrel flashlights for grenade launchers imo

The current “Focus” veteran is more of a sniper class because of how much it emphasized weakpoints.

I really want a “pure shooty” veteran class. A lot of his “just start blasting” identity got heavily nerfed (survivalist) or ported over to ogryn (reload on ult) when they made the gunlugger tree.

My dream would be a heavy hellgun with backpack powerpack, like what inquisitorial stormtroopers and Kasrkin carry in the old art, before they renamed everything.

The “just start blasting” style got partially un-karked when they FINALLY did something about close range. I agree though, I really want a ‘gun guy’ vet rather than a ‘sharpshooter’ vet.

bring back sustained fire lol

Which for whatever design reason works better with fast firing weapons instead of slower, harder hitting ‘precision’ weapons.

I’d be running a Hellbore exclusively to get those bayonet hits in.

Grab your braced autogun and start blasting

I use a similar build on my “full auto” veteran. But instead of using Focus Target I go down the right branch to get Onslaught which makes my guns shred armour and allows me to kill anything including crushers. Very effective on braced autoguns and accatrans.

I too generally prefer the right keystone but I also melee a lot.

i would LOVE something like this but i feel like the second gun should be locked to a simple stub pistol with the primary and the melee being completely customizable while the stub pistol can only be customized in terms or some small things like ammo and damage. i say this because darktide is so focused around melee combat that having two guns and no melee or two guns and a bad melee for backup is both a bad idea for gameplay and really hard to actually balance the game around without if effecting the other classes in some way.
