They listened about the want and demands for communication. They want to see what makes the player base stay and grow.
They know that it means a lot with the fact that they have earned monetary gain from players as well that demand that things need to be done to make QoL even better in game. They also saw that they can now get ported to more platforms and need to step up the game
I honestly don’t buy that. People have been clamoring about the poor communication since forever and all they got was silence. The fact that we are seeing changes only recently doesn’t mean “they listened to us” - they weren’t before, now they are.

the stuff they were working on is close enough to done to talk about, that’s all. fatshark takes ages, and most of darktide’s players are people that did not enjoy the wild ride for VT1 or VT2’s comedy routine and do not understand that fatshark really does take a long time and no news is way better than constant updates.

That’d be my guess. Coup or not, one of the most sure-fire ways for a complacent company to get it’s act together is for a genuine competitive threat to come knocking.

Gotta agree with Jakal here. It’s far along enough and safely good news enough that it’s relatively low risk high reward to share info like they have.
That’s of course not to downplay the incredible work of @FatsharkStrawHat in proactively gathering community feedback and getting some solid answers out of the Devs.

That’s true. Darktide has been limping along for years, barely making a player count. If another w40k shooter shows, it might go from sparse to completely empty…
…and if it hits low enough numbers people might not come back because they will think of it as a dead game. The perception feeds the reality.

I haven’t seen the leaked gameplay myself, but I’ve definitely heard of it. I’ve also heard that it’s an older build that was leaked and isn’t representative of what’ll be coming out in 2 month’s time per the devs.
Make of that what you will, but I’m reserving judgment for when it releases proper - Though it won’t hurt to compare the leaked build to the live build come September to see whether or not the leaked build is outdated.

Precisely. While I wouldn’t say Darktide is dead/dying just yet, there’s no denying the drop off of players from it’s first few months to where we are now.
It’s why I never minded that time when Helldivers 2 was constantly invoked, even if it got repetitive. Competition is how we get better games after all, whether it be from getting a good game outright from the start or other companies previously content with substandard results being forced to put more effort in lest they lose too many customers.

Sadly helldivers 2 just doesnt have the depth and neither will Spessh Mehrhen 2. The former is a fun game but its also seen a massive playerbase decline and loss of interest due to the shallow pond issue i think. Been there, done that.
Space marine 2 will be fun if its not a disaster. Ill likely play it. But its not likely to retain a large playerbase either. Darktide is going to be haunted by a bunch of angry specters for another 10 years lmao.

Without spoilers, can you give a brief summary as to why you say that?
I’m guessing StrawHat has a lot to do with it. This started happening around the time she started “filling in” for Catfish (is she still alive?)
