What about another class to Darktide

On Reddit I stumbled onto some excellent ideas for a Hive Ganger. There were also good ideas for an Arbites and Ratling that I’m having trouble finding.

Edit: Found the Arbites/Enforcer pet idea here and the Ratling idea here!

It’d cost more than a pretty penny and I’m not kidding myself about the chances of it happening. But at the same time you gotta spend money to make money, and I’d wager that a lot more people would be willing to part with their money if this was the kind of content we get.

Adeptus Arbities

Subductor / Vigilant / Breacher / Exaction

Shotgun + shield /mace specialist

They also have Nuncio - Acquila and medpacks.

Something like an AoE buffer that can scan enemies or generate stims. Plus they look cool.

Excellent point. This must not be forgotten.

Comparing timelines to VT2, that game already had a whole new faction and a new career by this point. Chaos wastes and 2nd new career also not far off. Darktide has some catching up to do unless they drop a LOT of content before summer. I think they’re nowhere near ready for a new class or fleshed out gamemode though.

Darktide hasn’t seen much genuinely new in a fundamental sense since Patch 13. In terms of new content since then, we’ve gotten green bombers, a handful of new weapons, a few new levels, crafting got un-Gacha’d, and two game modes (havoc and mortis) based entirely around existing assets.

The title is now going on 3 years old, has no new platforms to try and launch on (launches are where games make the vast majority of their sales), while ongoing monetization is built entirely around low effort Chinesium cosmetic sales, so incentive to develop new content from scratch is probably low.

I would not expect significant updates composed of entirely new content that doesn’t already fit into the existing game/assets, and that includes classes. FS can barely manage what it’s got, and doesn’t appear interested in cranking out much that entails significant new development, and a new class unfortunately would require a lot of that.

I think Tech-Adept or Arbites based concepts could work and be interesting, but I’d be shocked if they ever came to pass.

+1 for the Admech/Servitor class.

Personally I just whimper for all the great franchises that lie untapped and barely get a game ever even though they deserve a full blown MMO (Shadowrun, Warhammer 40k, … ).

Darktide is as close to a 40k MMO as I will get to see in my lifetime I reckon, sucks they do so little with the IP.

Yeah I think the game is stuck in low effort asset hell until they release their new game.
Rinse and repeat.

They may try launch it on switch 2. People play this game fine on the steamdeck which is roughly on par and that’s without custom DLSS tricks or being optimised for it.

If Fatshark actually have something big in the pipeline for this game content wise then we may see it in a month or so at the warhammer skulls event. (inhales omega dose of copium)

A new class would be nice, right after knife and DS mobility gets taken out behind the barn.

that’s the problem with further developments for darktide as i see it too: the game has made the majority of revenue, so any more work put into it has to be funded with other means, mainly cosmetics (which fatshark doesn’t even offer as a catalog). unless they manage to sell a mission pack some day.

perhaps they’ll allow a modded realm and let modders do the rest in a few years when darktide is old enough and doesn’t earn enough to be worth the effort.

If they added a new Mechanicus class the combination of new cosmetics and hype around getting to play Mechanicus drawing new players in would pay for itself a hundred times over, perhaps more so if fatshark were better at marketing.

Actually definitely more if fatshark were better at marketing. A mechanicus class is the perfect thing to present as an Expansion to the game. But knowing fatshark they will just present it as a minimal hype small update with a couple of youtube videos that only people who are still playing will see, when really it should have a marketing campaign as a new kicking off point for Darktide, Darktide 2.0. When I boot the game I want to see a new splash screen kind of thing.

Don’t hold your breath for anything of the sort.

Their lead combat dev left many moons ago. If you have any expectations? I’d advice you lower them. Significantly. When it comes to Fatshart in general.
