Weekly Server Restarts are Needed

The servers almost never seem to be restarted and this causes numerous problems in the game, stuff like hit detection being bad, the chat becoming non-functional, weird disconnects, lobbies crashing/booting everyone out and general lag etc.

I suggest Fatshark restarts all the servers every week. Probably do it on a Thursday since weekends typically have more players and restarting on a Thursday would be less disruptive and allow for a smoother game experience on the weekends.

The only time Fatshark seems to restart servers at the minute is when there’s a major update, but that’s not often enough, we need them more often to help prevent issues.

Exactly lol.

The only online game I have connection related problems with is this one, so me thinks it’s 100% FS servers causing all the aforementioned problems.

Are you using Wifi connection?

Because 99% that’s the problem (like your router is “old” or/and you’re too far from it), as Darktide is pretty demanding on stable connection.

Try playing thru Ethernet/LAN cable, if it helps then maybe you should start looking for a better router.

I have a wired connection. Router is perfectly fine as well. It’s definitely a Darktide issue.

The servers seemed to work better at launch, but it seems like they either don’t maintain them properly anymore or they downgraded them to some cheaper ones.

Weekly server restarts need to become standard practice for DT, every other similar game does it already and for good reason.

Maybe it depends on a region.

Didn’t have any issues with European server.

Not sure if there’s anything to “restart” in a session-based game.

We start and finish lobbies/matches, not like there’s an open world map or something.

Doesn’t really matter how the servers work, you always need to restart the servers every so often, just like you restart your router or restart your computer every so often to make them work better.

Restarts clear out small errors, which can build up over time and thus make the electronic in question run slow or have connection problems etc. Most electronics function like this, servers included.

Well, I bet they are rebooting servers, it’s not like they got just one of them and reboot means total blackout for the game.

And for sure they’re renting them from local providers.

So again, the problem might be in your region.

Restarting servers?

I think you’ve been using too much Microsoft. Professional programmers don’t write programs that slow down with time.
