Seriously… It’s been a year and you’ve only made 1 new set from Penances and that’s it…But your cash shop just has literally everything different. That’s just rediculous. You go to the “cosmetics shop” and it’s the same crap just recolored in all the different colors of the rainbow.
It’s at this point that the whales really do screw over modern gaming. Can’t even look good compared to others without droping $20 just to look different compared to someone. God forbid fixing a gamebreaking bug takes ya 3+ months to patch but holy crap lets make sure the shop is always fixed and filled 24/7.
Cosmetics earnable from pennances would certainly keep me playing longer term as it has in Vermintide 2. Then I would be extremely likely to actually spend money in the cosmetics store, again much like I did in V2.
But what do I know, Im not a money man, a suit, a statistician or rich so…
Yup. Once the marketing department scum figured out that exploiting people with whale/gambler tendencies is the fastest way to make money it was over. Add the fact that 40k fans will buy literally anything and it’s no wonder FS gets away with charging what they do for this stuff.
Whales get milked off overpriced cosmetics, people who can’t/refuse to spend that irresponsibly get nothing but rags and lame recolors, content devs worked hard on gets shuttered behind stupid FOMO rotations, players have fewer goals to work toward, the game feels less like an immersive environment and more like a mall. This stuff just creates the worst outcome for everybody except the money guys, I hate it.
It’s been mentioned on the Discord & other places here and there that the reason all the content such as maps, weapons, etc have been free and will continue to be free is because of the cosmetic store.
If that’s the case and we don’t have to pay for any of those things moving forward, I don’t mind if the cosmetics skew heavily on the paid side - although I would like a bone thrown here and there for sure. I’d much rather whales be whales, which lets content be funded for the rest of us rather than all of us having to buy map & weapon packs individually.
In an ideal world that would include new character archetypes as well, but I somehow doubt that.

If you play veteran all you get is either a re-release or a reskin every 2 weeks for months on end.
If fatshark had half a brain they would actually be selling stuff guard fans actually want.
Also I can’t wait to see how long it will take for there to be penances with accompanying cosmetics for the new grenades/abilities/auras and how long the commissary will go without a inventory update.
At our current rate commissary may take over a year to see anything new.
Shame… I’d love to support the game. But I just can’t swallow encouraging FS’s scummy MTX practices.
Make the prices reasonable (or add play-earnable currency), drop the FOMO rotation, and give us options to recolor purchased cosmetics instead of trying to double dip.
Unfortunately, this topic has been brought up TONS since launch, and FS has basically ignored all the complaints, and doubled down on the tactics. At this point, it’s pretty safe to assume they will continue as long as its profitable.
I will keep posting this where it’s relevant in the hopes FS sees this and implements it. I’m a Bullgryn player, but I know a few folks who would LOVE to play a Kasrkin guardsman with these.
