Not Horn of Magnus. Please.

I feel a little duped that it’s money for old rope but hey, I didn’t pay for SoB and played that enough.

Well, I do want to play horn of magnus again. This map is very fun to play
My only concern is that 3 maps feels a bit… not enough
I do expect some more content to it. (other than the big balance patch)

Alright then, I’ll waste some more of my time offroading this topic.

It’s all about what used to make up the immersion.

Fog has largely been replaced by volumetric lighting (or something). This creates more outwardly pretty scenery, but it also fails to hide the horrible, awful level of detail pop-in that infests this game. On which note, horrible, awful pop-in is all over the place. It’s not just enemies propping up right in front of you, it’s objects having to be 10 meters in front of you to render, pieces of the level falling into the void if you look back at an inopportune time, textures shifting LoD levels so abruptly that it’s like the models are changing shape. Pay any kind of attention to anything that’s further away than directly in front of you and you’ll wonder if you’re playing a console port. You’ve got a hard sell for immersion where you can see bodies on spikes coming into being depending on if you’re close to them, or literally about to run into them. V1 hilariously had none of this and only had performance issues in regards to CPU overload.

Lots of flavor was surgically removed. The map screen used to be an actual map - now it’s an in-your-face gamey menu screen. The inn used to evolve as you progressed through the story for the first time - now this huge, empty keep only changes when you complete your first mission, and then when you get characters to 10; that’s something you STARTED with in V1. The loadsceens used to be actual loadscreens, with a frame and everything - not the first piece of level-related concept art they snatched off the artist’s desk (AY and RS don’t even look like the final maps). The loadscreens also had lore tidbits that helped convince you that the devs probably cared about the world a little bit too. The regular rats used to taunt you specifically depending on your character - now that’s something shatfark decided only CWs can do. The UI wasn’t an affront to all that is holy.

I’ll keep myself from going on a rant about VO in this game, because then I’d exceed character limitations. In short, V1 did it astoundingly well in almost every regard and nearly every run through a map was enjoyable because you knew you might just hear something you usually don’t because the game is so rich with well thought out VO. In V2, everything is fundamentally broken at an existential level, promised features are violently cut (career differentiation is a sad joke), F L Y F R E E L I T T L E O N E dominates the chatter, and even hearing something you haven’t heard before isn’t exciting - because the reason you never heard it before is because it was either literally missing and had to be patched in, or because it was broken. Or you may be hearing it because it is broken and shouldn’t play here! It’s a horrific mess all in all, the furthest cry from V1 that you can think of. I and my usual V2 partner ready ourselves for VO spaghetti every time we launch the game.

Art design in general was also simply superior. The levels were very samey in the main game, to be sure, but at least none of them had the exciting color palettes of GREY/WHITE/GREY/WHITE/GREY/WHITE/BROWN of Righteous Stand, or BLUE/BLUE/BLUE/GREY/BLUE/BLUE/BLUE of Fort Brax - even when the colors were samey, those specific colors happened to work well with the environment and at least aided in creating a dark, dangerous atmosphere to things. Most of S&D was brown and grey, but it was a chunky, satisfying brown interspersed with an orange hue from the fire. Even when samey, they at least didn’t start to look trite, they worked. A good number of V2’s levels looks like they were set during daytime just out of obligation to be different, without consideration for what actually works best with the game. I mean, Morrslieb appears all of 1 time in the main campaign. For a non-level example: every weapon now looks like it’s not been tended to in the past… couple hundred years. The weapons used to have an issue of looking too shiny and gilded all the time, but this is way too far in the other direction. They’re unpleasant to look at.

Altogether V1 gives the impression of a game that was made by people who generally had a handle of things, which, as I’ve been here since before V1, is hilarious because I know the context of what things were like at the beginning. Yet I can think back to the hilariously bad months after October 2015 and it still feels better than V2, where anything and everything may or may not be unintentional and subject to change because whoops accidentally released the game in March 2018 instead of 2019!

And that’s just a few things that V1 does better that contribute to it feeling much more well thought-out and a more complete package that you aren’t wondering if anything is meant to work the way it does. Combat does feel better in V2, I’ll give it that.

I agree. Just about everything that n Verm 2 seems Niti ng but lazy. All the things you mentioned… Re colors for weapons and character skins. The headgear is almost indistinguishable from other headgear. No new weapons. Now we get three remastered maps. Everything so far in Verm 2 is the laziest possible thing for everything. It’s easy to see fatshark is nit putting very much effort into the game. You can say small company all you want, but no matter the size of they care it would show in the content they put out.

It’s nice and all but for me new weapons were a big reason to buy DLC in V1. In here I’m so far not to keen on buying anything extra unless it comes with some new toys. I’d probably splurge on last stand though.

I agree. Just one thing, shifting again the thread focus, why “VO spaghetti”? as italian I would say “VO porridge”/“porridge code”. Spaghetti, if well cooked, are not a messy blob, porridge it is, rant end :stuck_out_tongue:

Fat Shark, can we please get at least 1 ORIGINAL skin in this DLC? Not a recolor, but a proper new original skin, whether for heroes or for weapons. I don’t care if it’s going to be skin for career that I don’t play with or weapon that I don’t use. I just want to know if you will start creating new skins. Make a survey if you don’t know which one to start with, there’s tons of ideas in GW books and artwork (as I’m sure that you are very well aware of).
And let me ask you a question. How much time and how many people is needed if, let’s say, you wanted to create a brand new armor skin for Kruber? It’s not a sarcastic question, I’d really like to know :grinning:

That being said… I’m enjoying the game and I think that you are generally moving in a good direction. I personally didn’t want to get back to Ubersreik, and I think that instead of rebooting old maps you could’ve spent that time creating new assets. You still have my support so I will buy the DLC. But the game is in another state now. You are basically finishing all the career and weapon content that should’ve been finished before release. These months, this big beta testing, these are the months and testing that you missed at the beginning when you rushed the game launch. Many players will disagree with me, but I think that this a completely wrong time to launch Ubersreik DLC. You are basically making two steps back while trying to move forward. And if nothing else, all the players who own V1 should get Ubersreik DLC for free. I think that would be a fair call.

Im all for new costumes. Not just lazy recolors. Fatshark missed the boat with the Halloween opportunity. But here again is a new update promised.

I dont think they have new cosmetics in the agenda but definitely support this idea.

They have the art teams and creativity to do it, come on guys! Give us some opportunity to be unique with our characters. Lots of people been screaming for this

Or at least have dignity and don’t add anything because the purple glowsticks from SoB hurt to look at. And no, other colors won’t get any better.

I too would like NEW skins, for characters and weapons. Shoot, even new Veteran weapons would be cool. However, as I’ve been saying for months, a Warrior Priest of Sigmar or Ulric would fit fantastically in V2.
Also, talking about missed opportunities, the Halloween Event would have been the IDEAL time to squeeze in a couple Deamon encounters, and would have fit nicely into the lore and settings of V2. Just my two cents worth.

LOL at this I always thought how they took veteran items, and changed the coloring on the runes, and called it a new skin. Like YAY! Its got a different item name, but its exactly the same weapon, except its got purple glows instead.

LAZIEST sidestep ever, its so laughable how they executed it and called those “skins”.

Please for the love of GOD, if they want to add more “skins” with maybe a red glow instead… how lazy can the devs get?? Man all we want is genuinely NEW stuff guys. NO MORE COLORING RUNES its just so insulting to us, the weapon “skins” are such a joke! Couldnt even model them to look different

Do you play on Xbox? If so, I believe I’ve matched up with you a couple times

I’ll think about buying your dlc after all the following has been implemented.
1: Dedicated servers (as promises before launch - no mans sky stile promise? )
2: When the game enters a balanced state.
3: When i can play a mission without crashing from anti cheat
4: When enemies stop disappearing left and right
5: When keep decorations show up (as promised)
6: When cosmetics are more than just LAZY recoloring of existing models.

There you missed that

I was actually looking forward to the 8th DLC - “code name:” Red.

We’ve had the Purple DLC, we know they now have a mechanic that allows them to dynamically change to any colour in the RGB spectrum. I think this one is going to be the Orange, and the one after that is might just be the Green.

You see there’s a logic to it:

R=Red | G=Yellow | B=Blue.
Red item cosmetics were born “Blue”
First DLC was “Purple”- meaning B+R=Purple
Next one will be R+G = “Orange”
Then G+B = “Green”

See… Logic… LOGIC!

Finally, with the last DLC we’ll get our Red GlowSticks and The Empire will rise again!

Hopefully there’s be some kind of glowing armour and glowing hats, then I can walk around like I belong in some twilight parade from Disneyland. Can I also have a tricorn hat that has glowing trim and a bright purple codpiece that can be seen from Morsleib please.

I don’t like the glowing weapons either if you weren’t sure. I’d rather have some good UNIQUE weapons skins that are lore friendly.

Sword of Striking, Sword of Bloodshed, Obsidian Blade, Relic Sword, Tormentor Sword, Shrieking Blade, Biting Blade, Gold Sigil Sword…

If only there was a richly diverse history in a fantasy setting with a multitude of weapons and thousands of images of art to draw from to be able to come up with excellent lore-friendly weapons without glowing runes that look like …
