Ver 1.9.3 - Vertern Toughness/Health issues

Seeing both Melee and Pox Buster attacks completely by pass Vetern’s toughness and directly damaging health instead. Repeated taken damage that left Toughness unchanged and reduce health down to ~1 hit point.

My understanding is that Toughness should be reduced first and once depleted, then damage is applied to health.

What I am seeing is the exact opposite of this Health is being depleted and Toughness is not even functioning, yet the UI shows full Toughness.

Sorry it is hard to get screenshots mid-horde melee encounters. Will see if I can run more missions to capture this

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

I saw this happen from infected mob with simple melee attack, Pox Burster jumping and exploding near me while I had full toughness and more than 3/4th health. Both times Toughness was not effected and health was effected. Makes the Vet feel like it is made of paper.

This was on Heresy threat level, no modifiers on the mission, and was also not a Maelstrom mission. Mission was comprised of at least three veterans each noting that since the 1.9.3 patch that Veterans feel like they have Zero Toughness, we each have different Talent Builds. Each time we were in Coherency.

I have not seen this same issue on the other classes, but have noticed that the Veteran is not nearly as sturdy as it was prior to this patch, and not as sturdy as Psykers. All other classes seem the right level of Toughness.

Many attacks (mainly melee) have bleedthrough where a portion of their damage is dealt to the player’s health, and this portion is determined by how much toughness the player currently has in relation to their max toughness.

For example, if you’re hit by a bruiser melee attack while you have 100% of your max toughness, you won’t take any health damage, only toughness damage. However if you have 99% of your total toughness, then 1% of the attack’s damage will be dealt to your health.

This mechanic has been in the game for a very long time and wasn’t newly added or changed in the most recent update.

IIRC there was a bug a while back that made it so if you stacked too high toughness on Vet it’d make the game think you had sub-100% and all Melee attacks would bleedthrough from the start.

This really shouldn’t be happening… unless FS’s version control’s been defenestrated again and it’s resurfaced years later :skull:

Though, this is the only report I’m seeing.
