Uppercut swings still have terrible hitreg

Dear FatShark,

if anyone ever reads stuff in this category, you should be made aware : most uppercut swings, in the vein of the Obscurus Force sword second light, can simply never hit heads, unless you position yourself at the EXTREME end of your reach, and gently, delicately caress the edge of the enemy’s head hitbox.

If you align your crosshair similarly, 95% of the time a purely vertical or diagonal swing would headshot, an uppercut swing from a comparable weapon mark will hit the enemy’s foot, or at best, their body. This is not always a grave problem ; uppercuts with good cleave will often headshot a second enemy behind the first. But when you need to hit a Crusher’s head with this ? It’s impossible to reliably do that.

I know you’ve attempted to fix this, I’ve seen a few mention of it in patch notes, for example with the Heavy swords diagonal heavy uppercut ; but unlike Fallout 4, it just DOES NOT work.

As a result, any weapon mark that incorporates an uppercut is generally inferior to one that does not rely on it.

As a rapier user from VT2 times, just aim above and to the left.

Also affects the heavy uppercut on the relic blade mk ii, sadly.

Edit: could really do with some of this (recent heavy sword change):

Hmm I don’t know what you expect. After all knock back attacks start at the other side of the body. That’s the same as complaining that the tentacles are in the way if you do a horizontal swing.

There is a point to be made that knock back attacks should have a different damage curve. It would make sense for those attacks to have low finesse but high base damage and impact.

Why aren’t groins weakspots? Plz add. Fix uppercut problem instantly.

Believe it or not, almost everything in this game has terrible hitreg

mk2 Relic Blade uppercut is imo quite easy to get headshots with as with most attacks in the game. You could consider uppercut attacks struggling to headshot for other weapons to be a weakness designed into its moveset.

Afterall, they do more dmg than overheads.

Fair challenge. I’ll work on my skill issue
