Trying to get back into the game

I gave the game a rest beween january to now, can somebody give me a good grasp of whats been buffed, nerfed or changed ?

Plasma Gun has been buffed and is actually very fun to use now, cooling damage applies to your toughness first instead of health and can shoot through the shields of Bulwarks.

The Thunder Hammer has had its special action hit self stun halved, and is much more fun to use now. Additionally they added a second variant, the Ironhelm, which can cleave through enemies and will deliver the charged hit to the first elite or special enemy it hits.

They added 2 new Force Sword variants, the Illisi being a good horde clear and the Deimos being a good single target damage (although both can do the other job fine) that are some of the stronger weapons in the game, and really no other reason to use a different melee weapon on Psyker besides maybe a Brutal Momentum Axe.

Additionally the Psyker class as a whole has received some changes to make them stronger and more fun to play, but Psyker is my least played class so I can’t really comment or remember on all the various changes that have been made.

They added 2 new shotguns which are both much better than the standard one. The Kantrael is a close range melting machine, with its special action loading a Dragons Breath round that has infinite cleave and can light bulwarks on fire through their shields. The Agrinipaa is a longer range, faster firing shotgun that is decent base, but has an insanely strong alt fire: a slug round. Does insane damage and stagger with a range of around 60 meters or more, its great on Vet but really shines on Zealot as it gives them a long range sniping option.

Biggest nerfs were to the Flamer and the Power Sword which made a ton of people super mad. Despite that, I feel that the Flamer is in a much better position now, as it requires more intelligent use while still being a strong option. The Power Sword nerf was reducing how many times you can charged swing, which lots of people including myself don’t like. It needed a nerf but that was the wrong way of doing it, and Power Cycler is absoloutely essential on it (although they added a variant that is a lower blessing tier, giving 1 extra swing instead of 2).

Probably something I missed but this is what I remember off the top of my head, if you have a particular weapon you want to know about just let me know. :slightly_smiling_face:

Good to see psyker got some buffs, well deserved if they are good.
Already see the power sword nerf, still a walk in the path to play with it though haha.

What about perks though ? Is the meta still the same ?
Also i just played a match that was foggy as all hell and spamming snipers which was pretty funny, new mods ?

I guess for “guns” i’d like to know if some of the psyker staffs got changed, and if the ogryn single shot shotgun is still very uhh let’s just call it not very up to par then same for the french vietnam war submachine-gun, which i forgot the name of.

If by perks you mean blessings, then yeah pretty much. Slaughterer, Head Taker and Thrust are all still amazing, and Combat Axes with Head Taker and Brutal Momentum are all around the best weapon without having to build for them.

Yeah there are a decent amount of new modifiers. I don’t know when they changed it, but Hunting Ground now spawns a bunch of low health demon dogs that do less damage in a pack instead of the normal dogs, and is a lot more fun imo. There is shock troop gauntlet, which periodically spawns groups of specials and disablers in groups. What you experienced was Sniper Gauntlet, which can happen on either Ventilation Purge or Power Outage. The biggest thing is that all of these modifiers can now also be either low or high intensity. All the difficutly junkies on the Forums say that High Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet is the only fun way to play right now, and while I personally wouldn’t only play that it is pretty fun and intense.

Again I’m not super informed on all the psyker stuff, for the most part I’m pretty sure they’re unchanged with Trauma getting some buffs that help it clear hordes better on t5. Purgatus did get nerfed for about a week or so and then they reverted the change. The Kickback also got some pretty serious changes, and has less damage and stagger fall off. Personally I’m not the biggest fan, but I’ve seen some people swear by it, as now it’s very good at staggering either shooter hordes or special enemies at range.

Also for Ogryns they got 2 new heavy stubbers, the Gorgonum and the Achyles. The Achyles is fast firing, low armor pen low damage low range, which means it only belongs in the trash. The Gorgonum is high damage, low fire rate and decent accuracy so it is easily my favorite Ogryn ranged weapon. All the Ripper Guns also saw some various buffs, with the highlights being a good chunk more ammo and the Can Opener blessing actually being pretty decent and functioning correctly. Maybe not the most meta blessing, but certainly usable.

Also I’m sure you’ve seen it, but all classes got new penances and cosmetic sets to accompany them. They’re definitely a lot more scuffed than the previous ones, although you can still earn them and the penances are much better. However some people are upset that some of the old class penances are now only earnable in private lobbies.

As for the Blessing meta staying the same, I hope that is addressed in the upcoming patch. There is going to be a “large content drop patch” coming later this May, with a Comm Link I assume talking about it coming on the 18th. Lots of people, including myself, are really hoping this is an out of the park update with new content and changes to the meta game (crafting, resource siloing etc.) and its possible the future of the game depends on how well it is received. They confirmed it will be coming with 1 new map, but I and others feel thats a bit lackluster as one of my big pain points is the lack of map variety.

Also forgot to mention this, the Shredder Auto Pistol is one of the strongest guns in the game right now. You need to get the pinning fire blessing, ideally at either t3 or t4. The other blessing doesnt matter as much but Blaze away is good. It is better at clearing hordes than the Flamer is, and will eviscerate anything that isn’t an Ogryn (just remember to not shoot Maulers in the head with it, but the body). Pinning Fire increases your power depending on how many enemies you stagger. What it doesn’t mention is that it counts on staggering the same enemy, so you can get like 4/5 stacks on it by hardly shooting. Ofc it suffers at range but is absolutely mental in the right situations.

The bolter also heavily benefits from Pinning Fire. One of the vet toughness regen perks got changed to on headshot kills you regain 20% toughness and take reduced toughness damage from ranged attacks for a certain amount of time, which is great on all the rifle style guns.

The monster killing vet perk deals 25% additional damage to big enemies now, which I feel was unnecessary but its very strong now. The Zealot attack speed up on ult use now last for 10 seconds but still isn’t worth it over the other 2. Ogryn also had a decent amount of rebalancing of feats. When you last played were Ogryns able to do bleed builds? Because they can now, and is my preferred way to run them.

Don’t forget that the “crafting system” was actually implemented since january, it’s been a long time since they played

Tried the flamer the other day. It’s a joke on Damnation, honestly. Just as I predicted, not even good anymore. Just barely passable.
Otherwise you’re right with your summary.

What you forgot: A lot of crashes were fixed and the client runs more stable now.

The difficulties were reworked. The new ultimate gamemode is Damnation+, which is Damnation with Hi-Shock Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet. It’s the most sought after game mode.
Also new are Sniper Gauntlet where you get assaulted by a squad of snipers on the regular as well as Hunting Grounds, where a pack of Pox Hounds comes after you repeatedly.

Speaking of which, Pox Hounds officially joined the Kerbal Space program.
Pic related.

Crafting’s still a joke, give it a few more months maybe.

There’s a decent diversity of strong guns (k12, shredder, plasma, braced auto, bolter offhand) - still need a few more balance passes but many underperformers have been buffed.

I disagree but maybe I need to try it again.

I did mention this in my other reply.

I felt damnation was too damn eazy, there was no way i was this rusty pulling of damnation matches with randos. i want old damnation back tbh lol. maybe diff 6.
