Trauma VS Hammerblow

What is the difference? trauma doesn’t lose stacks on switching targets or missing an attack, and even if it did, why would the lower value one get the disadvantage?
Note: Both blessings are available for the devil claw swords.

It’s essentially just trading slightly longer stack duration for slightly less impact.

Genuinely don’t know what 80% of blessings are for. They contribute essentially nothing.

Trauma gains stacks once per attack. Hammerblow gains stacks once per hit. Neither blessing loses stacks on miss, so Hammerblow is just indisputably better if you’re only taking one impact blessing.

For DC swords, take neither impact blessing. They’re more of direct damage weapons, and stagger bonuses would be better served on weapons like the shovels or shock mauls.

Almost like they throw stuff at the wall and didn’t care what stick.

I would never take them, just always thought it was weird, thought I might be missing something.

They likely had more meaning in a bygone era where the DPS race wasn’t the only thing that mattered…

I wish there were no DPS increasing blessings, just playstyle altering blessings would’ve been cooler IMO.

Hammerblow? increases the duration of stagger frames as well, these aren’t actually redundant. Or maybe I have this different view of stagger. Its the only raw stagger blessing blessing that is really worth it vs just using power instead, and its on things that can break open bulwark guard generally (the main application of extended stagger).

If you want detailed and accurate information I really can’t recommend Kuli’s guide enough, it has become my Darktide Bible. It’s a steam community guide, should be easy enough to search for.

Here are the excerpts from it on these blessings. Note that there is a LOT about them not advertised in the in game blessing description.

Of course if you just want funny big stagger effects pick you’re preferred of these two then add the real stagger GOAT.

Pre patch 13 there was a meme devil claw sword setup like this we called the “Thundersword” tm

I love these blessings – I run a Thundershovel on Vet that stacked up floors Maulers..!

Doesn’t kill much, just.. moves 'em around

key difference is repeated hit vs hit. one stacks on one target one stacks on anything. but neither are great for dclaw.

Agreed 100%. Skullcrusher, Rampage and Shred are all better alternatives than stagger Blessings on Devil Claw swords. They already have enough stagger at base IMO, why they have so many stagger Blessings is beyond me. :man_facepalming:

i still find it weird as hell how this sword has several impact blessings which are normally associated with blunt weapons. one would rather expct it to focus on cleave.
