Iâd like this idea tbh! But ofc as long as theyâre soundless it wouldnât fix the problem.
Honestly rn I wouldnât mind if they just embraced the bug and redesigned trappers around it: Make them soundless, deliberately, and for all difficulties not just on T5+. Uniquely stealthy kidnappers that canât be anticipated by hearing like the others. But to compensate, they need a clear line of fire, netting you from range when they had room but otherwise sneaking up to your side or behind during a horde and taking you out from point blank range.
this sounds worse to me because without that big glowy net i expect 80 percent of console players would not notice the downed player.
Some creative thinking whereby a player âsparksâ in a similar manner to as they do currently would solve this. I understand what you meant however, even though Iâll remain non-judgemental on that aspect.
What I think is interesting about this idea is that the trapper would be functionally identical but the replacement of the net with a small projectile would negate nearly all complaints about how she functions (aside from wall clips and sound issues of course).
And yea it could still be obvious that a downed player is being electrocuted or whatever.
ButâŚ! Dodging nets and watching them fly off into Nowhere (which may or may not be the name of an Ogryn I play with sometimes) is one of my favorite things.
she
Oh yea!
Honestly, if they do that, we all know theyâre justifying jank⌠however, the cognitive dissonance is resolved. Itâs not a solution, not really. But it would justify their current functional mechanics.
Some bugs are hilarious. I know what you mean I saw a net go through a horde and corner wall to net someone on other side, then they pulled âthroughâ the wall itself and disabled right in the middle of the hordeâŚthen as per worst situation surrounded by flames. It is like falling off the tree and hitting every branch on the way down.
Another bug is when say using Evis cleave a moving mutie, youâre stuck in cleave animation whilst the mutie carries on itâs journey without you elsewhere and dies suddenly 30 metres away from original contact point.
I guess it is charm of DT of these funny bugs like these.
Iâd be annoyed at silent trappers but thatâs an audio problem.
The âget dragged into hordeâ bit wouldnât be around. So Iâm happy if they switch to stun darts.
Make the stun dart like the opposit of a stim. As you get tasered you accumulate more corruption than a regular net, but less than a dog. Something like a max of 1 wound corruption.
That means someone with only 1 wound would eventually die to the dart if left unaided.
They just need to fix them not being silent and able to shoot trough terrain imo
Iâm not sure if this would solve it though, as getting trapped in the middle of a mosh pit would still happen and thatâs still unfair even with a dart imo.
Trappers just need to stay away from large crowds.
Trappers nothing to fear. It really is what comes after.
- Pulled into a horde then they all bukkake you
- AOE floor flamed. The tick damage of flames is brutal.
- Nets have ability to go through not just walls, but their own horde to reach you.
Youâre turned into an instant delicious meal. Grabbed, pulled, tenderised, flame grilled and served on a dish.
Now the sight can be hilarious at first, but it is the scene of many rage quits I witness.
I donât think they should be removed, but instead moved to the Dregs.
Why, oh God Emperor why, there is someone with a net in Moebian VIth?
They were supposed to be a guard regiment.
In case of Dregs (cult) I can understand idea of a netter - they are kidnapping people for their dark rituals. But a Scab with a net? Still donât understand the concept.
And this is honestly a good thing.
The trapperâs point is to teach you not to mindlessly hack away at a horde and get carried away by the dopamine hit of getting kills. The moment you hear their voice cue, youâre supposed to put in some distance to prevent above, and check your surroundings.
Trapperâs are Darktides situational awareness/intelligence check. Just like Hookrats were in Vermintide 2.
Before the people with the bruised egoâs swarm this post:
Yes this requires for the sound triggers to be working, as well as the net not being able to phase through walls, boxes or meshed railings.
It shooting through a horde/crusher wall might seem dumb but itâs required for the above concept to work. Same as the hookrat phasing through a slaverat horde.
