Too many ranged mobs on Carnival map.... no fun for Zealot

That’s a fair stance on it I guess.

Zealot have so many tool to rush at range enemy lol. You could also dug and dodge, spraying some bullet to interrupt them while closing in since dance of death that make your gun have zero recoil/spread(or just knife of faith them in the face)

The only hard area to do that is the long hall way with bridges in prison map I find, since you’re pretty much being funnel into enemy gunfire with little to no room and cover.

Also could spec into gunner resist in case you get caught with your pant down.

It is your job as a Zealot to reduce the threat they pose by getting into melee, although you will need to take out your gun occasionally.

Zealot and Ogryn thrive on this new map. The tight nature of the engagements and the need to stay adaptable to changing situations means they are at their best here and I really, really don’t want to change it.

People have been complaining the game is too easy. This is your answer.

Revolver IS a sharpshooter weapon. It rewards precision more than any other weapon in the game. And plasma gun is sort of an iconic weapon for an Imperial Guard veteran in the tabletop. Weird to see it being called “unappealing”. I’m afraid there are no other weapons at vet’s disposal that can dispose of a mauler patrol or a blob of shotgunners as quickly as those two, no matter if you’re besieged by bruisers or not.

Idk man, I’ve run the new mission a few times now and it seems overwhelmingly melee focused – there’s a few areas (like that big open plaza) where ranged gets a little hairy but overall it seemed like a nonstop melee flood:

I completely disagree. It’s more challenging, yes, and you have higher potential to fail if you screw up - but at the same time it’s a lot of fun to zip around and take the pressure off the team by butchering shooters left and right.

I’d say this map is a solid test of Zealot’s ability to utilise the game mechanics, nades and ults to your advantage.

I have to agree with OP to some degree. In the first event, you get 70% range unit and 30% melee.
Sparkle that together with the heavy gunner spawn (which imo is somewhat broken) and the shotgun groups that just drop down and you can barley get away, because you get shot from all angles. Not just on zealot. If you do not have a dedicated CC player, they just overwhelm you.

Hell, on the last event on the map, we even had to search for range enemies, because you had to kill a certain amount after the event ended. They where just so spread out, it makes no sense.

I have no problem with tougher melee groups (give me ranger and crusher all day long) than to get potshots from every angle because range units are not able to get in melee properly. If they keep aggro on a certain player, they just run past you and shoot at them.Or just make 2 steps back and unload a volley in your face.

A great change would be, if you pop a bubble on psyker, let normal shooters go into melee. Only elites can keep shooting. I mean it works on Ogryn shield if you have specced into “attention seeker”

I only agree with one thing.
Gunner spam is annoying.
Rest is just bad player cope. You have your ranged weapons. Use them. If you have nothing to deal with enemies at ranges longer than flamer then it’s your loadout/build problem.
MK1 IAG shreds groups of shooters while still giving you an option for hordes and absolutely demolishing crushers if you use chastise. People are sleeping on this weapon as an option for zealot.

As a Zealot, I will only attempt Carnival with a Psyker that has the dome.

It sure is. As a melee exclusive Zealot, I only finished the mission once. And it took me every ounce of determination and self-control. Dodge, slide, but most importantly protect the Psyker and the Psyker dome will protect you.

There was one moment when a pack of Crushers cornered us when the dome was down and I was out of grenades. I though all was lost, so I got my Botgun out (something I rarely do) and emptied a magazine into them. It didn’t do much. I’m certain we would not have survived without the Ogryn’s heavy attack bonus.

but hey, no, that can’t be it. it’s only console/controller players that are bad. everyone knows ALL kb&m players are godly; never die, have 100% accuracy, always get critical hits, always hit weak spots, use their abilities perfectly, dodge every melee and ranged attack, and always have to carry/save controller players. it’s always 1 k&m player and 3 controller players in a team, that’s why this game is always so difficult now.

it’s true, because i read it on here all the time lol

developer doesn’t play their game, normal ranged enemies locked on your head as well as the elites, it proves nurgle is stronger than emperor.

Or Mk5 IAG, the true edgelord’s choice!

Tbh tho if you’re a zealot having issues with ranged mobs on this map, I suggest rolling thy wrath be swift + revolver. Revolver is really nice for sniping mobs wayyy across carnival’s wide open areas.

Im sorry but this is the most mad cause bad post i’ve seen since earlier today. I know i’m a zealot main and have none of the issues OP is describing with the new map but my second most played class is vet and i never took camo and i had no problem then or now doing what you describe.

Dodge sliding isn’t just to get in, dodge slide while you’re killilng all the shooters too so you’re immune to the ones you haven’t forced into melee. Use your skill for toughness replen if you get low, go from pack to pack. Been loving this map on zealot, especially with the uptick in difficulty.

I don’t believe so, but I will look into this.

My luck has changed, I now beat this map more often than not even with pubs.

Still bouncing to other maps this one feels overtuned in the ranged department.

I also run Chorus for the save potential, not chastise.

Thank you, I will equip a Plasma gun on my zealot next time I play!

Literally just played as a trough this map as a lasgun vet. With Exhilirating Takedown which is bugged and causes you to take MORE damage.

So no, you’re straight up wrong.
