Too many ranged mobs on Carnival map.... no fun for Zealot

This game isn’t Call of Duty, no idea why the game has to spawn six trillion gunners and shooters everywhere you go.

Its literally unbearable as a zealot, every match I play everyone is at red ammo levels at the end.

Makes me only want to play shield psyker on this map.

Damnation quickplay.

In my opinion the player base is to blame here. It’s really insane to see how bad the average darktide player is. like really insanely bad. Not capable of dodge sliding towards ranged enemies to force them into melee fights, to dumb to use cover, to entitled to not have at least any way to deal with “trash” gunners in any way on their wh40k bad*** cosplay loadout…

TL:DR people are REALLY amazingly bad at this game in general (But still play T5 difficulty for whatever dumb reason)

Edit: Just to be clear. I’m not saying you personally are bad

Lately I’ve had the best luck on Damnation as better players seem to queue for it as opposed to Heresy.

Also I’m comparing other maps to the new one. Other maps seem to have reigned in ranged mob spam.

I’m literally 0-7 on this new map. One was a RQ on my part when some zealot got bodied by the ragers at the start. I noped out of that one. One was a crash, and one was a mission aborted. Both we were most likely going to win.

I can’t remember the last time I had a losing streak over 2-3.

Yeah I feel you. Everybody and their dog are playing the new map atm.
I just think that people should be aware of the danger of ranged enemies such as gunners and shooters. I dont get why people do not adapt a little towards those enemies.

I see so many vets farting their boltguns into hordes and armored targets (because they are not capable of melee-ing a single crusher), psykers feeling great about their nonexistent purgatos aiming skills, zealots not being able to dodge a single trapper when busy fighting some enemies and so on… And all of them together dodge backwards and cry for HAAAAALP when a horde with some armored enemies / specials / shooters in it appears ingame.

… and at the first “hard” encounter with gunners / shooters they simply die because they lack the skill / tools to do anything against them. Then they rant in the forums. (STILL: I’m not saying you are this person!!)

I specifically equip my Gun Psykers around the capability of dealing with trash gunners / elite gunners of all kind. And I play them hyper agressively. Because that’s what most groups in random T5 base difficulty missions need the most.

just dodge-slide and take no damage and stunlock/kill all ranged that pinning your teammates down so all can push forward

Oh, yes, just stunlock/kill all the ranged while all the other ranged are pouring hellfire on you face…

It is a bit of a tough one especially right at the beginning in the i finite horde.

Largely the problem is people lingering and not moving because they’re new to the map and don’t know what to do.

I always try to take out the ranged with my Vet. Its hard though when you keep getting mobbed by melee units.

This is why camo expert was so useful for vets, it gave us breathing room to focus on the ranged enemies, but people moaned and they took it away and as a result its much harder for us to do our job.

Camo expert not being a thing anymore has been easily the biggest problem for Sharpshooters.

Mass shooters on open ground is the dream scenario for you as a zealot. You’re made to molest them.

I felt a solution would be to have camouflage set to a stack ability.

3% per stack per 0.75 second up to 10 stacks when crouched.

Moving or standing starts to remove stacks.

3×10=30% chance to go unnoticed.

Their biggest problem was relying on Camo Expert in the first place.

To be fair, the game doesn’t even teach you this or let you know this is possible. The game has lots of hidden mechanics.

To get more tickets at the casino obviously. We need something like VT2 legend vs cataclysm where hardest difficulty doesn’t incentivize those grinding.

Most people didn’t like Camo to begin with. Honestly Unwavering was always the play and it’s not close at all. If you want a similar effect against ranged trash run a gun with ghost. On Vet with duck n dive + dead shot you can enjoy heaps of free crit chance as well while you stand in the open plinking shooter heads

With how the game plays on highest difficulties there is no real way for a sharpshooter to efficiently shut down high threat targets at range without camo and nobody wants to babysit or cover a sharpshooter so they can do their job in this game. It sometimes is even impossible in those situations.

That’s uhhhh, never been slightly true. Camo was only ever genuinely good for forcing objectives. I’ve never seen anyone with any proficiency on Vet talk well of that talent, it was a trap for mediocre to bad Vets, egregiously so when it was competing with Unwavering that let you largely do the same thing but while soaking aggro rather than dumping it.

I disagree but we may have different definitons of high threat targets. Elites and specials are easy prey for vets with proper weapons.

Really?

Once I dodge slided to force an enemy into melee (which sometimes does not even happen and they keep emptying their guns in your face while you’re hacking at their faces), who tells all the other ranged units they have to stop shooting me in the back, on the sides and on the front?

Not to mention the sound cues seem to be off now, I used to rely on them to dodge melee hit from behind but now I get hit anyway, or I get hit while the sound is playing…

I’ve actually had a lot of fun with my Martyr icon zealot. Pushing firing lines with the buff while stunning so I can lock up ranged enemies in melee is great.

OP something just occurred to me. Do you run Thy Wrath be Swift on Zealot? If makes you immune to ranged stuns which makes dealing with shooters as Zealot way way comfier.

A melee oriented game (lets not kid ourselves here with ranged combat, its basic AF. Melee is where tide games shine) has a problem with overspawning of ranged enemies (and bugged MEGA spawn of gunners).
The game has a DEDICATED melee class and DEDICATED melee builds on a other class - solution for these is to “dodge slide”… are you high people?
like genuinelly what are you smoking?
How about melee classes get to fight sh-t in melee outside of auric giga spawns, instead of just wishing they were shield psyker who trivializes this content?
