you can still leave the lobby if the match doesn’t suit you and it doesn’t count as leaving a game.
I played with a guy the other day who was in our game and he left twice and rejoined trying to get auric storm survivor which is hilarious considering its a measley 5 point penance associated with horrible players.
I played with an arbites wearing 3 wounds who twice didnt hit the med station i pinged10X and then he would just die because of it. You can have like 200 toughness and 200 health on that character and these bozos choose to run wounds and die constantly. Its to the point where wounds are just synonymous with horrible players. I genuinely dont understand all these noobs rushing through games but part of it has to be a lack of map knowledge so they dont even know where med stations are to stop at them. They also have to be horrible at pacing because theyre used to like rushing through malice missions but then they come up to auric or maelstrom and need babied constantly. I play with so many horrible arbites i almost just expect them to be horrible in my games. Half the time i have 2 arbites on my team and theyre both horrible players.
But it looks good under their name!
(Irony, I don’t use any titles myself.)
It goes back to Arbites being able to circumvent Darktide fundamentals so effectively.
Dog makes Hounds and Muties a joke, Concussive makes dodge near irrelevant with the right setup and Voltaic Shock Mines trivialize Elite ambush groups. They’re all passive, easy to use features of Arbites that turn anything below Damnation into a cakewalk.
Zealot has anti-dog capability to a limited degree i.e. You haven’t taken a melee hit for 10 secs for it to be active. Sadly nothing for Ogryn. Well he has rumbler, fire on ground once or spam and doesn’t matter dog pinned or not the AOE does the job on knock back.

There is Pained outburst.
The reason is because the new mission terminal cycles every 10min
So when someone leaves, no one is around to backfill
I run poxbreaker cuz you cant cheese a million kills. I genuinely have no clue why anyone cares about auric storm survivor but it has to just be because they see everyone run it not knowing its a complete total meme.
Quickplay is supposed to backfill missions and currently its not thats why we have so many bots in games.
Yeah then they come up to auric and get decimated and chewed up and spit out cuz they dont have any experience in auric intensity hi int or hi shock missions. Still blows my mind so many noobs continue to build to go down as opposed to build to stay alive. Dude i played with a vet the other day running a plasma gun and a power sword with carapace on it and krak grenades. He rarely ever threw nades because he had no use for them. End of the mission i told him to put unyielding on his plasma gun and stop playing with kraks because he already has a power sword with carapace on it for crushers and he can kill bulwarks in melee or just shoot them. He thanked me as if hed never thought of that before. I dont get why so many people are so fond of krak grenades when half the vets in my games that run them dont even use them and they dont even min max grenades they just walk right by crates with nades in them cuz theyre always full. I also still find it hilarious do many noob vets refuse to take survivalist and opt to take tinkerer with kraks and then they throw 10 kraks in a game I threw like 60 shredders in. How on earth do they not realize theyre wasting dozens and dozens of nades every game ill never understand. I really dont get why so many vets are so terrified of bulwarks and crushers they take kraks when half the time kraks dont kill anything and if you play shout you can shout them open or stagger them with shredders for your zealots and ogryns to kill. Dudes running a powersword he can just push attack everything to death with and hes playing with kraks. Everytime i see a player like that im always thinking jesus christ how terrified of crushers are you dude.
Honestly, it just sometimes you see very soon that team just lacks cohesion and tools. Like, people are downed while fighting a starting hoard that shouldn’t cause any problems at all, nobody can take out armor or shooters, instead of keeping together they are running in circles all over places, so can’t in time save a disabled teammate etc. Then yes, I often will leave, unless it’s something I theoretically could carry (and I’m not that good overall, so it’s rarely the case).

Kraks are more intuitive as the “anti armor” grenades. I do agree though they’re worse than Shredders in 9/10 situations and overdue for some adjustments. Shredders really only need Demo Stockpile and they’re good to go.
Downquitters have always been a bit disappointing to encounter but they are usually replaced with other players pretty quickly. Since the recent patch it has felt like quickplay games haven’t been getting backfilled the way they used to, which has exacerbated the impact downquitters have on the teams they’re leaving behind, who have to play the rest of their Aurics with permanent bots. They skulk in through the back door of the Mourningstar instead of walking past Commissar Dukane like the players who are seeing their work through to its conclusions, successful or otherwise. I don’t think Dukane would tolerate these brazen displays of cowardice. They’ve always been there, but the current situation with backfills have kind of made them worse.
I have ASShat the title, but I’ll never use it
Yeah this problem is defiantly noticeable in Auric. Leavers aren’t replaced by new players, so you often end up with a snowball effect, as general Pubs get put under higher pressure and also quit. Bots hardly ever get replaced by players, and this is not player pop issue. Quickplay and the recent mission selection screen changes just don’t feed new players into existing games.
I’ve raised this as a bug for those who want this to be treated more seriously.
Yeah but kraks suck against armor in a sense. Why would I ever want someone to kill one crusher in a pack of 7 as opposed to my grenade vet with tinkerer bleeding them all with two shredders. Kraks also have abysmal pathing and often times they get zero value because they dont hit anything. Krak users are also just wasting grenades. Like I said i play with krak vets that throw like 10 grenades and ill throw like 50 shredders. Kraks are garbage as far ad im concerned and the only time they even remotely do decent damage is against weakened bosses but like who cares so does a pickaxe or anything else for that matter. Lots of vets who suck st the game play with kraks because theyre incapable of dealing with bulwarks and crushers or dealing boss dps and they dont understand grenade management is one of the most important things on vet. Gotta love vets taking demo stockpile then wasting grenades all game and in mid/end events. Couldnt be me lol
Interesting point, let’s apply that to Psyker.
Yeah but brain burst sucks against armor in a sense. Why would I ever want someone to kill one crusher in a pack of 7 as opposed to my Inferno Psyker with Perilous burning them all with a few salvos of Inferno.
Kraks can be fixed, and should.
Problem could maybe be summed up in three points
- (Some) players think they’re better than they actually are. When they go down it was always someone else’s fault. Fact check: it’s you, not them.
- (Some) players think they’re “great team-players” but likely, in fact, aren’t. The game no longer even bother to encourage you to try to stick together as a squad and overlap archetype abilities*. Remember coherence for toughness regen? lol. A ‘good’ DT player is one that is self sufficient.
- Bots are terrible. Even so, an “afk” option that temporarily lets a bot take over ‘til you return, which I’ve requested for ages, would be helpful for those of us with families and pets. L4D2 had it how many years a go? One of my pet peeves this hasn’t been implemented. Surely all the parts are present in the game already.
*I don’t play havoc. Maybe it does there with all the immunity specials
Point 4:
- Two specific penances which reward titles encourage players to shut down the game when they go downl
