Then they shouldn’t play team games if they can’t guarantee that someone else can look after their child during that time (e.g. the other parent).
Sure, there may be real emergencies, but real emergencies only happen in one out of a thousand cases.
And I’m willing to bet that 90% of the leavers don’t even have children. Because most people with children would rather just go AFK than play until they go down and then (and only then) leave the game.
Definitely not. That’s based on my personal and professional experience.
I’m not going to discuss this further, because I already know that you have no idea what really counts as a genuine emergency and what doesn’t. And that has nothing to do with personal feelings or opinions, but with national and international definitions. My statement can also be measured against that.
No one needs to assume anything, we just go by your own words.
Turns out emergency is when somebody picks up a grimoire and its possible that there are probably other, yet to be determined instances of entitled teenage rage over the world being unfair to you that will count as such…
I’m a bit mixed on this. When my children were really young and i knew there was a big chance of me having to bring their pacifier to them or otherwise attend to them I wouldn’t jump in an online multiplayer game.
They’re a little bit older now and I don’t start Darktide until they’re both in bed, but and it still happens once in a while that I have to attend to one of them unexpectedly.
I agree it’s a rare occasion and if you’re in the stage of life where you can’t allocate uninterrupted game time then Darktide isn’t the game for you right now.
From my perspective, even if you suddenly need to get away from the computer you have a right to play the game if you find it fun. If someone says they have to take a short break or something I do not mind stopping to guard them while away.
You also took precautions so I don’t think anyone reasonable can hold it against you, at least I wouldn’t if I know the context.
With 10 min special event timers when someone leaves there is no chance for a replacement because that specific mission is no longer on the mission board.
200 IQ design
You know, at first… I wasn’t in favor of punishment for leavers, because of obvious reasons. It’s just such a gray area, but I’m starting to change my mind on it recently. This is a huge problem now. During the past few days, people constantly leaving mid-matches is huge BS, putting more burden on others & also, not to mention, it can jeopardize winning or also even some sabotaging like little @ssholes. Anyway, I’m totally in favor of a new system. What that system is? I have no idea, but there has to be a better way than this obviously. It’s complete garbage & pretty frustrating. If they eventually fix people not being replaced by bots, then it would be a lot better, but still.
I think you should be able to leave a match for any reason at any time. But if you abuse it, then you ought to have a little time out.
The punishment should be for consistently leaving without rejoining while the match is in progress. That way if it’s an authentic situation, then you face no punishment. And the worst punishment you can face, is a little time off.
Sounds to me the issue is people looking at a team, or a respawn, and thinking they could get a better deal by leaving and re-queuing. I know there are some compelling reasons to do this, but if you do, then you are part of the problem. Add a ~5min timer before you can play again, ya might be less inclined to take the escape pod of spite.
And that’s only for people who leave and don’t rejoin over a threshold of their games. Nice and palatable for the mums & dads
That’s a really good idea, actually & pretty reasonable, plus it’s not too punishing either. I have to admit. Like every time they leave prematurely, they accumulate 5 mins at a time to the timer or something like that. But if let’s say it reads as a disconnect or a crash, maybe nothing happens to them, because obviously it’s beyond their control. Take notes here Fatshark.
had a power matrix match yesterday where i cleared a perfect path 3! fkkin times (so i didnt abandon them outright) only for my goons to stay back and even yap “maybe help?”
help with what? pondering how unbearable worldly existence is of late ?
they literally stuck around WAITING for crap to spawn instead keep along.
and its the event not even auric maelstrom, much less havoc.
at this point, yeah i don’t give a flying fkk anymore if they die or not, my part is more than done my job is to win the match not sherpa sightseers.
needless to say their endscreen “performance” reflected pretty well how little they contributed to the result, bot would have at least kept up and aborted needless encounters of attricion.
honestly i’m even glad “those” leave and make room for either a suitable replacement or even bot.
On rushing vs playing slowly: the faster you go, the less time the game has to throw enemies at you. To the point that sometimes the spawn system breaks and suddenly there’s barely anything spawning. (Talking about Auric here, not havoc)
Of course, this works only when the team moves together. When some run ahead and some stay behind to fight poxwalkers for whatever reason you get this thin line where players get picked off one by one.
Both methods can be successful, as long as you don’t have free range chicken. However, when you’re used to blasting through, then playing slowly becomes boring.
And that’s not entirely true, but as these players always want to run… they will never see it.
But seriously, I have seen players doing stupid things just because they want to rush… like not taking a medikit, like not using the medicae, like a wipe because they never wanted to stop…
The wipe is pretty often due to the stupidity of these rushers.
there’s no contradiction: speedrunning works, but requires a competent team that acts as one unit. like everyone can learn some circus trick, but when a pro does it you don’t even get to see what they did. so one can try and use meds and pick up stuff while running and fighting, even simple materials, but not everyone does it.
i posted this earlier regarding people who hold their +forward key pressed no matter what:
overpowered or not, the surest way to still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is having 4 people apart from each other where everyone plays their own game.
if i’m forced to play with console players, and given a limited block list and ‘punished’ for leaving games with undesirables, this game gets uninstalled and removed.
