With that attitude it’s best you don’t say anything, yes.
“Fighting good! Talking, waste of time.”
I have to admit this sounds dope.
dude not everything must be a “social thing”
you replace a bot, that’s it.
if you do your job well, ![]()
if you don’t I carry to the point where it still makes sense.
beyond that, some random dude that shares a match for 30 minutes tops?
aint got no face nor name and most definately isn’t someone I feel like “talking to” when I all i want is playing the game.
![]()
Here’s the thing, in no way would you be affected by any social thing ever unless Fatshark implemented a forced measure to do so and they’re not going to. So any social aspect whatsoever never affects you because you won’t talk anyway. You carry anyway as you so often mention.
A more positive and more socially welcoming community is better for growth and general vibes compared to a gatekeeping elitist community.
I think OP has a good idea and in some form it could actually work.
I agree but would a commendation system actually do that?
You said it yourself:
Would an upvote button really change this? I’d argue that implementing the chatblock mod would cause far more social interactions than that. It’s the mod that makes you hold block while your chat is open, to be clear. I don’t think adding an upvote button at the end of the game or whatever would actually do anything to make players socialize more
Unless only postitive commendation is available thats a no for me. Negative commendations can and will be abused, especially by premades.
playing silent isn’t gatekeeping
kicking ones sorry ass for not having enough “gear” or dps or “skill” would be.
one is words one is action.
words do jack
when action is set into motion.
thus far I had but a handful of kicks throughout 1600+matches and all of em were peeps sabotaging the match by voluntarily not coming along.
on the other hand the “happy community” award would shift the focus from efficient gameplay to “nicing” which doesn’t win matches, maybe brownie points.
then again those focused on performance would disregard these cumbaya-badges as one already does with the A.S.S title among other useless fluff.
I see no insult in that, you could be the second coming of Hitler or Pol pot in your private life, as long as you play proper and shut up I value you by your ingame performance, since this is the environment it’s about.
this “minced words awards” feels like a mock-version of
“bootlicking for social points”

by the way, where oh where did I hear of “social points”…..
![]()
edited for typos, damn autocorrect
I would much prefer a similar lobby system to VT2 without an additional loading screen if you want to leave and implementing chat block to put it simply. Updoot alone probably wouldn’t change much especially since we’re so far into the game’s lifespan and way of things is already in place.
Just changing the strike team formation to be opt-out instead of opt-in would change the social dynamic drastically.
I know you are an ogryn in soul and game, but I’ll ration you nonetheless.
There’s more than one role to fill in the game depending on difficulty, game mode, builds etc.
If you want to maximise your chances of winning then it’d be better to set the team up for success, before going into the mission.
That would require the minimum of effort in the social aspect, but no one does that outside of havoc and more likely people won’t even get to that part because they’ll be rejected right away with no indication why and when they are accepted they again might not even know why. There’s not an incentive to do so and wastes time because they are faceless bots as you said. No incentive to even begin a discussion or strategise.
Outside of havoc there’s also no social aspect largely because the conditions for success are varied and not that easily intuited for people new to the genre/game or just too casual like pacing, someone dedicated to removing specials, elite killing, boss damage etc on top of the players’ actual mechanical skill. It’s basically not worthwhile to even begin to think because the reward for winning is so meh unless you are new and winning is basically up to rng.
If there were better social systems in place for people to learn and grow as a player and maybe even eventually make up a dedicated team everyone would win(more). In gameplay, in player number growth, sense of community and maybe more.
There’s plenty of opinions for what is optimal and most efficient with different content creators and websites with builds which can often be contradictory depending on the authors or views and largely it doesn’t matter unless you ‘know the fundamentals’™
Why not ask your team? There’s no time, it’s not worth it, you get sent into a random match where someone left because they got downed (thanks A. S. S. Title) , no one says anything because there’s no incentive or a way to do that naturally.
As much as you like to strawman like I want to ccp the game and pound your green circles you are in need of a better brain implant to understand that there are more things to consider for a game or genre to grow. Any game needs casuals to grow and elitists to show the meta way, but most casuals cba to look up guides in which case it would be great if it was possible to do that in game and passively grow without being scoffed at.
Growing the genre and/or game part is especially needed because for the love of God melee *is so so so a** * in so many games.
The commendation system in this case would be a sort of social interaction without using words, but something visible to everyone perhaps, but the system and ‘badges’ are up for debate and it’s not a hill I care much for.
So when I joined this topic it wasn’t solely because I think this commendation system is a bees knees magic bullet but more that I want topics like this to get more exposure. The opt-in system is bad*, finding players you played with is bad, adding friends is bad, some achievements/titles etc are bad for obvious reasons, impersonal lobby is bad. The social aspect of the game in general is bad. No account name to recognise/remember without a mod is bad etc etc.***
The game is fine as is, but imo could be much better.
I may contradict myself but, you know, it’s what people do as time goes on, they change their views and ideas. Sometimes even while writing their rant.
/holy-e-what-a-rant
I take that as a compliment ![]()
see that’s where we disagree.
first of all up until auric maelstrom one good player can stir the whole match in a sufficient way and clutch /carry despite 3 others doing precious little or simply not enough.
and thats how I like it, dominance through skill and experience.
not everyone is as passionate about it, thats “acceptable” but dont make people “dependent” on whats never going to happen, its a recipe for frustration and resentment.
most of the time I don’t even look at who’s with me in the hangar, much less their loadout, for 95%+ of the time they drop the ball at one point or the other.
ironically thats the spice I “expect” when playing with randos, not a “good performance” but something that keeps engagements fresh.
in not one single match would there have been enough time to even get the most basic of improvement advices across, much less in a way they ‘d adapt to on the fly.
if someone comes ill prepared it aint “my problem” and I prepare ahead for failures to expect.
if someone’s willing to learn I gladly point em out to build videos, full matches to even get a graps on “what’s possible” and pick their parts in digestible portions.
that’s something to do outside the game, in quiet hours/days/weeks, heck I must have spent months alone watching “pro-footage” back in the day.
pause, rewind, try myself over and over etc.
until it was second nature and then came back.
and since that’s something most people “can’t be bothered “ with for a “mere pve game”, I dont bother about them outside picking em up when opportune, but I won’t waste/risk resources on a lost cause.
simple efficiency economics.
to fill the pockets of the devs, sure.
to keep the lights on with the core players that regularly pay for cosmetics and the servers paid?
I prefer a 2-3k solid playerbase over 100k clueless guys stumbling across the map any day.
just yesterday I had a dude that “got lost” in auric maelstrom dark communion.
the disrespect by not knowing the map inside out by even then and hoping for your team to cover is off the charts to me.
so no, as long as the revenue is “sufficient” I’m not looking for another 200k encounters like these.
rant away, that’s what helps passing the time when not playing ![]()
I would like a shepherding functionality like in division 2, where people can call for help in shitty games, and you can answer those calls and get a shepherd rank. That way you can willingly choose or ignore games that are spiraling. Also creates expectations to what you are getting into.
It really goes beyond games and into society as a whole.
The fact that we have to think of ways of enforcing positive behaviour when it really should come naturally out of courtesy.
maybe people don’t like to be “enforced”
true, don’t be an ahole on purpose, but best strangers get is “indifference”.
aint nothing “forcing me” react positive by default when yet unearned
Du bist so deutsch ![]()
Good behaviour should be encouraged, not enforced
Bad wording. You know what I mean, encourage, cultivate, courtesy etc

thing is, not everything needs to be in a “buddy mood”
like pointing out “german mentality”, whereas in certain countries you are a “buddy or friend” by simply being acquainted, a friendship here has to be earned over a very long time by serious means and deeds.
yeah I help you out in a lurch and no I don’t set you up with barrels and bursters on purpose.
other than that, if it’s not a “friend” there aint much to interact about for me ![]()
every match I give my 100%, every match I try and clutch with all I got when
hits the fan.
whether there are chatterboxes on the team or mimes ![]()
what more is there to the game in terms of efficient outcome?
I know what you’re saying the ends justify the means.
But for me it is also the path to it.
