This clip exposes exactly what's wrong with the Thunder Hammer

I can see the logic there. But it still doesn’t explain the whole picture of why the ogryns folding shovels ended up as super weapons that excel across the board. For example, the chainaxes also hit very hard but they also have a noticable weakness in mediocre horde clear. Why isn’t that the case for ogryns folding shovels at all?

As well, pinning the issue on ogryns talents also doesn’t explain how the veterans folding shovels also came to one shot chrushers; without access to either brutal momentum or thrust.

Slightly tangentially, I think the variants system for weapons would have worked so much better if each variant had its own, innate built-in blessing, ideally mechanically changing ones like Run ‘n’ Gun, Deflector, etc. instead of just damage/rate of fire/penetration, etc. differences.

I can’t remember if this was changed or not, but doesn’t Veteran have along the lines of 200 base toughness?

Yeah its 50 for Ogryn, 60 for Psyker, 70 for Zealot and 100 for Veteran now. Only putting 3 toughness nodes on his tree + that change means we have to choose between large toughness pool and HP on veteran (now). Before yeah 200 base was hilarious and you could easily push 300+ toughness with Unwavering Focus up for effectively 1200. Those were the days.

Isn’t that just to offset the bullet-magnet-ess?

I hope that’s not the rational behind it still being present.

Having a 36% TDR and 20% HDR in general because you are easier to shoot (which would be the natural counter) sounds like a massive over correction.

Respectfully, I think the chainaxe comparison lacks a bit if you include the horde clear of the two weapons.
