Why are we gatekeeping cosmetics?
FOMO is a plague on the games industry.
i edited my post to explain that. but to sum it up it’s not fomo, or at least not the same way 99% of the games cosmetics are. it’s a reward for existing players. they specifically gave it to everyone just for having the game before this cutoff date. it’s the one time limited cosmetic in the game that isn’t fomo, but a time limited premium quality set that was given out for free as a thank you for players who stuck with the game even through the rough early patches (which at that point still applied)
i just think the intent on exclusive rewards matters. stuff like events are for retention, stuff like rotating time limited store items are to keep people buying store items and keep them checking the store. i disagree with walking this one back before any of the store or event time limited things. if they do open up the stores completely and let us get past event rewards then i think it would only be fair, but until then, why are people who paid 20 bucks allowed to keep their exclusive ogryn tiger print pants but the cool stuff i got for not refunding the game when it was trash gets made available for everyone?
Events should have Aquilas!
The only thing I can hope for is a huge refresh of the entire game, which includes reintroducing cosmetics as a true “store” where you can walk in and pic anything you want at a set price, cough like vermintide 2.
FS currently has more important systems to get online, like character classes and “balancing”.
This pipe dream is probably slated for a thank you for 10 years when all the noise has gone silent. (Id love to be wrong~)
The bottom line is the bottom line, players are still buying these clown outfits and FS is only looking at the paycheck, soo what’s to stop them from spinning the wheel in front of us?

This vanguard set not a “reward” for loyalty, but just a piece of cheap meat to shut barking maw of raging community.

speak for yourself, i was not humiliated one bit by the aquila thing because i did not partake in the overreaction psychosis. i’m of the mind that the pearl clutching comment was spot on, and i think it’s sad that a CM got outrage for doing nothing but actually keeping it real instead of putting down corpospeak
to me it’s a cool set early players got and i don’t necessarily want the exclusivity removed, especially not while 90% of the games cosmetics are exclusive for worse reasons. let’s see the cash store opened before we start cannibalizing what is meant to be veteran player exclusive items
it’s also very holier than thou that i’m supposed to be outraged about an exclusive deal gamespass users got for aquilas, but i’m supposed to not care about exclusive things that i got over the games lifetime in the next breath
Not defending FOMO(I hate FOMO with a passion), but im ok with this set being exclusive as it’s for people who essentially played and continued stick with Darktide despite it’s rough launch(I do mean rough I had to use a VPN to connect to Fatsharks server to play at that time) and the whole aquila fiasco. It’s Fatsharks way of saying sorry to the PC players. It’s like Warframe with Excalibur prime and getting the founder pack(which you can no longer do). Still Fomo but at the time Warframe had no gurantee that it would succeed and it’s seen as a thank you for people who took a chance on the game.
Now I believe we can come to a middle ground and have a recolor or a variant the vanguard set made available for everyone, similar to how Excalibur Umbra that serves as new Excalibur prime. This way we can still have the old set that still honor it’s intended promise and the new recolored set for folks who want a version of that set.
i didnt not play DT those time when them give ppl this sh!t set and i not intresting in it now.
but the method and circumstances it was given to players i incline to conside only like a humiliating handout.

Yes, that is why self obsessed PC players feel mad about a mediocre deal offered to xbox players. However in the full story the xbox players were also hard done by. They were denied the game for a year, and then all they got for compensation was the option to buy a 100% free game and get some clothing money (since it was an online-only title and game pass was rolled into XBL). You had just as much opportunity to buy any denomination of aquilas as them, since then and after because they were never free. For the exact same cost and value. In fact through the lens of aquilas you can see that the game was very obvious from the start. They want money for clothes, from everyone, and the first one is never free (since it factually wasn’t).
