So for reference I’ve played both vermintide 1 and 2 so I’m fairly used to how item drops worked in those games. In Vermintide 1, the old system they used to have was that you could get a weapon at the end of every mission by rolling, if you rolled bad you got nothing, if you rolled well, you could get a good weapon. This was changed in Vermintide 2 because it felt awful due to how often you’d roll bad and get absolutely nothing for the mission you just did. Vermintide 2 used a loot box system where at the end of the mission if you succeeded you’d get a loot box which would have various qualities but they would always drop three new items, and if you leveled up, you’d get another box. This meant that you would get 3 to 6 items per successful mission. You could also craft in Vermintide 2, so you could disassemble what you didn’t want need and then craft what you wanted to use.
Here’s the problem I have with the current store and progression system, you no longer get an item at the end of every mission, you only some times seem to get them, and this game, at least the current beta has no crafting system to make the things you want. This leaves the main and often only source of getting new weapons or items is the shop but with the way the shop works means you only get new items populating the store once every hour, meaning you’ll often do multiple missions, get levels, and then return to the store to find it still having items you have no interest in. This creates a feeling of having little to no item progression for multiple missions, especially since it seems like the game prioritizes the items from the earliest levels, meaning that when you get to higher levels you’ll still have your store populated by starting weapons instead of seeing newer items or the weapons unique to your class. This also makes it feel like there are only really five or so different weapons in game since they’re always the same few populating the store.
I would recommend that the store refresh after every mission completed, or every half hour instead, as well as change what weapons appear in the store because right now I keep getting the same few weapons even though I’m over level 20, which makes the weapon selection in the game feel very small and stale. I would also recommend reinstating the weapon drop after every mission to ensure that people always have something new to use and experiment with if there isn’t going to be a crafting system.
