The scareboard performance of the Inferno Staff—is it really an OP weapon?

I like to point out your poor pysker had to use the medicae 5 times, so I don’t know if he got out of combat because of it, but good to notice. But I’m not topping the pysker ever in damage unless I’m playing aggressively away from the team or the pysker is just eating the ground. Even when my friend and I play double charge ogryn in the front line away from the pysker, his damage is still roughly 800K more than ours. Sadly, I didn’t screen cap it, so I guess I’m lying on the internet on this one.

But in havoc games, when you get rushed from both the front and behind, this is how it always ends up.

I like this one as the pysker has died back to back twice and I was still out damaged.

The thing with Purgatus is that it’s way to easy to use for the value you get out of it, like Dueling Sword Mark 4. You can M1 stun hordes(minus crushers and bosses) and when your frontline has things good and secure you can spam M2 + M1 and just infinite cleave hordes. Havoc was made because DS4, Purgatus, and Gold Toughness beat Auric into submission and introduced modifiers to bring down the infinite cleave damage. The 24/7 nerfist church(funny name) is just asking we bring the weapons down in power or make Purgatus more unsafe to use to justify the reward it gets. Also we look at other classes in power and reign in their performance as well, like when they brought down the nade count of Hive Scum and Veteran.

It’s never been the only problem. It’s always been the combination of: A) The purg staff being grossly over tuned compared to every other weapon (including the other staffs, outside of shenanigans) and B) the fact that psyker is the most babied and spoiled rotten little princess of a class that Fatshark keeps shoveling buffs on because malice mains still don’t want to play and, more importantly, buy cosmetics for it.

In any decent group Purgatus wont stand out too much (Around 30% above average w bubble) Yeah it will cleave more because there is more enemies to cleave in Havoc.
I find it amusing that a lot ppl conveniently ignore the fact that Shreik and SG completely remove any need for peril management, which makes Purgatus go into overdrive.

These 2 interact too well w Purgatus, make it a god tier without any need to manage heat.

Peril management IS one of the core mechanics and yet 2 ou 3 abilities make it redundant.
SG lingering loop anyone?
There is a simple way to tweak Purgatus (dmg vs range effectiveness) but not before looking into these ignore peril infinity loops Ults.

I’ll just say this:

A 30% damage output above average when running the support ability doesn’t stand out much?

There is nothing amusing here, the subject has been discussed to death several times, including the removal of peril management as a risk factor.

I would say:

  • purgatus is too easy to use
  • psyker class is not balanced regarding the others classes (minus Scums that have the same problem)

I would say they should look at soulblaze first AND the talent tree. Actually a psyker, without soulblaze does same damage output of others classes. So, when you add soulblaze, here comes the problem. But even if you nerf soublaze, it will still give you more damages than others.
Maybe the 20% rending is an other part of the problem. But I think that there should be a choice in psyker tree between soulblaze or something else powerful (so maybe the rending part, not sure of the culprits, but sure it is linked to soulblaze).
In fact psykers should deal the same damage output of the others classes when using soulblaze.
Then, you can tweak the purgatus.

My opinion is that purgatus itself, main problem, is that it is too easy to use and delete everything. My opinion is that the peril is clearly TOO easy to manage. But this is not purgatus only. Peril should be reworked.

its pretty well known that purgatus can be “outpaced” by the team. that’s also the complaint for me, i dont want to have to outpace my teammate to reach kills

this is meant to be a horde co-op game where 4 players need to work together to kill a horde, but it has turned into a benchmark power fantasy where 4 players need to race eachother to kill a horde before anyone else can. purgatus is a primary culprit of this balance

Cleave stuff cleaves, just because you run the bubble. Doesn’t prevent your flame stick from cleaving things.

Removing Peril would be just dumb.

You misunderstood, I’m not advocating to remove peril management, I’m just saying the risk associated it is mostly removed.

Also reasons aside, average 30% damage outlier above many other builds suggests a problem to me, and majority of anyone who cares about balance. That gap only grows if you use anything which isn’t top performing on that team.

Fatshark has struggled to balance infinite cleave weapons, especially those with damage over time effects. It was the same with Burn stacks, and those are actually limited by a resource.

Since patch 13, psykers have been the class that deal way more damages than the others…
The question is not what they did to me… the answer is nothing. But what Fatshark waits to balance them?

Cleave class equipped with a turbo cleave weapon will do more damage when they are many things to cleave.
I don’t understand why is this so hard for ppl to understand

Now it all makes perfect sense why FatShark left the scoreboard out base game they were spot on. Complete scoreboard junkies.

Hey.. you know I can see when I cannot kill anything?

It happens really often with psyker. Also, I don’t use the scoreboard.
I have powerDI that doesn’t open at the end…

Sidenote: did you see all threads that complain about difficulty? that’s just because few things are totally unbalanced. Scums by example (that I use and hope that they nerf what is too strong), Psykers, arc rifles, yellow toughness… that’s the more important things unbalanced or that kill fun by killing difficulty.
Worse mission I have been part, there was 1 gun psyker and 2 skitarii with arc rifles. I ended walking and watching a movie. 23 minutes of pure boredom. If I was not needing materials, I would have left.
Cause, guess why I ask that they balance their game (and not nuke a class, this is different)… because they refuse to implement the solo game mode they promised when they have released the game. As I play often in solo, I burn my materials each time I want to try something new… And I like to play with everything, that’s why I usually also see what is too strong. But as I cannot play solo (with bots decent) and collect materials, I am forced to look at the fact the game has a balance problem.

Inferno staff defenders relying on ragebait rather than actually aknowledging it will do a lot more than other staves for half the effort of these other staves gg

there are people playing h40 only once, and getting carried through and then never play it again

If I had wanted the tittle, obviously this would what I would have done. Playing until 40, then never touch it again.

I have no idea why you keep stating the obvious like it is an issue here.
