Seems to be working just fine for them. Except in the eyes of a few people who think these lowly workers don’t deserve to decide when they want to take their holiday breaks.

It’s the kind that make not only themselves look really bad, but they also make the multi-million dollar corporation (and their stockholders) they are white knighting for look really bad.

I think you seriously misunderstand what I’m saying.
A company culture where everyone takes vacation at the last possible minute as required by law is a company that is refusing to let the bulk of their employees take ANY vacation until they’re absolutely required to do so.
Aka, the opposite of good treatment of workers.

Uh, you do realize that the fact that the entire staff going on holiday at one specific time period means the company has total control over them, right? What if they want to take time during other times?

I would like to clarify that is not what is happening. Holiday schedule in Sweden is 1 April to 31 March, meaning that its a planned break, forcing all their employees to take the same break. Not because of last minute mandatory use, they can stack leave for 5 years.

I applaud Finland’s education system, I applaud Norway’s standard of living. I even think guaranteeing families time together on Yule is cool as heck in Sweden too.
However, I think Fatshark run their business poorly, and they should work on it. No one is suggesting Fatshark should suddenly become Tesco here, they’re saying they should manage the holidays better. Its that bloody simple.

That’s…exceptionally stupider than what I originally thought was happening. It’s one thing for 1 month to be vacation because of rollover, it’s entirely another to shutter your company for a month deliberately when you could do literally anything else.

Yep. And I have no issues whatsoever with closing the studio down for, say, 2 weeks over xmas (22nd to 5th for instance). Longer than that, though? Then you’re doing something wrong in terms of management.

My apologies if along the way some folks can’t entertain nuance or treat the people behind the games with any amount of respect or humanity and I feel compelled to splatter my thoughts all over the place.
Damnation didn’t spawn Damnation-level enemies. Which was a little weird. The tunnels of the Torrent were relatively clear, as well. No real hordes… and then the boss fight happened, the floodgates were opened. Apparently the Twins just love corralling pox-walkers to unleash on hapless Rejects.

I appreciate that disagreeing with incompetence in your mind is that we are hoping they instead take away their vacation time and think they should be in a sweatshop. If your only defense is insinuating that everyone else is advocating evil, we can only assume you are shilling for the company instead of hoping for a better resolution.

It is not that simple that people buy cosmetics if they want. There are psychological incentives in place to urge people to buy cosmetics, it is not a free choice. DT is not the worst offender but sure is not innocent.

My argument throughout this thread has been consistent: the demands that FS stop giving employees this holiday time off (just like Gunfire Games is doing this year) is bananas and not at all based in any understanding of laws or business or anything. They’ve been doing this for years, and they’re going to keep doing it. And more power to the companies that do.
But this is all off-topic of course, so I’m gonna dip out and stop perpetuating this drama!
