The Latest Patch revealed FatSharks Dark Intentions

I had my suspicions for quite a while.
There are clearly a HARD restrictions about communications of developers staff with players. But in unofficial guise it’s possible that some of them come here to vent their frustration. By the Emprah they can even be those who make a good posts about some of their system implemented in game being bad.

LOL… there are such players here that do that???
The two weapons were above the qualification of OP… it was blatant they would have to nerf them.
And yet the flamer is still too powerful

Not that FatShark has no responsibility here.
It’s just that it is not because they are trying to balance the game, but because their progression system (crafting) is so dogshiRNG that any re-balancing in the game can invalidate 100s of hours of grinding rerolling on the slot machine.

Not that players have no responsibility that when they see something TOO strong they insert lot of coins in the slot machinery…
Sure they could not know that it would come…

The reason I stayed put of the Ripper Can Opener race. It was obviously bugged or OP and was going to get changed.

they are just buying time to finish the game (still early access)

divide and conquer

I’m a fan of the nerfs (note: Powersword is still top dog for Vets, and Flamer still does its job) frankly; good step toward a more balanced game.

I hope they cap Brutal Momentum around 6-8 targets rather than do any severe nerf to the popular BM Axes.

I hope they reduce the K-12 ammo by ~40% or double the cost per shot. The weapon is amazing, but far too efficient.

I hope they increase the Helbore Mk3 uncharged shot to be greater than the MK1 and MK2 (ideally 180 range) instead of less for some reason (srsly, FS, makes no sense).

I hope they increase Surge staff damage to secondary targets as it falls off hard in higher difficulties / higher volume of opponents, with Trauma finally ‘good’ it stands out as a weaker option among the staves.

I hope they buff eviscerator so that it kills at least one target per heavy swing in hordes.

I hope they buff chainaxe somehow, it needs love.

Heresy

What’s that quote on the loading screen about hope go like?

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

Really nice conspiracy theory. I’m normally all hype when a new hot take drops, but this one is a bit silly, because you think players need machiavellian social engineering to get at each other or be hostile towards each other.

They don’t. See any discord or online game ever made.
People will lash out against each other for no reason and without a third-party intervening.
Darktide players being angry over the patch isn’t the result of some strategic chess master villain in Fatshark’s PR department.
It’s just regular gamers being their usual self.

Then there is also the fact that most of the “anger” against Fatshark for the slightly botched launch is already passed. Whoever is playing Darktide right now is not one of those casual gamers who left after early release. They’re diehard fans and players who go more into depth and probably are over that already.

Lastly, being angry at Fatshark isn’t going to change much. They’re not going to work faster because someone outside the office is angry at them. Neither will they work better or more dedicated. Quite the opposite really.

The nerfs aren’t fine when you have underperforming weapons and broken blessings. What they needed to do is tune up the weapons that are sub-par and fix the broken blessings in the game. This is ontop of fixing the broken gameplay and crafting loop that relies on RNG. THEN they could of gone back and re-balanced the game.

You’re giving too much credit. They went for balancing fixes over the poor hardware optimization…this is some Joe Biden levels of incoherent.

Tinfoil is on sale in my area… Just putting it out there.

They actually did both. They had it in the patch notes. They did some backend work on the engine.

My game played worse after update. Never crashed to once a day.

Nerfs are ok when a few weapons trivialize the game - and the PS and Flamer did.

I agree though they should, generally, focus on bringing clearly underperforming weapons up to par.
