The Drastic Decrease of Quality Players!

Lol I’ve been told “skill issue” numerious times for not wanting to carry dead weights XD

It’s so funny when passengers join auric expecting to get carried and then rage when I refuse to carry them XD

he does, hence his lashing out.

on the upside, take solace in the fact he´s very aware of his inferiority and feels the sting everytime he´s rightfully called out :+1:

Only 7 losses in a row?

It can be far, far worse.

this is a design fault, this game is entirely set up to look like a progression from base difficulty to havoc, they are presented in series as if people are all supposed to be progressing through havoc, hence you have tons of new people doing aurics trying to qualify and beating their heads against the wall in havoc.

but with a little over 1k hours now spent pugging in this game i feel the need to defend my PuG brethren
the games that are the most pain are when you are the 4th man in a premade trio . PuG develops a shorthand just like pre mades do , The pug community is the result of thousands of agents repeating and refining paths naturally selecting how to deal with each thing. and nothing falls apart faster than when you have a partial premade in their doing things differently.

Penance points are most definitely why these people are in auric and maelstrom missions. There is zero reason for someone who plays regular damnation who should really be in malice joining a hi shock mission just to be dead weight when they can go join a hi shock mission in damnation. Half the people you play with nowadays do not look like people who have ever touched a shock troop or a hi shock mission ever for any reason and yet theyre quickplaying into hi shock missions and going down instantaneously and playing with horrible gear for that matter. They are joining these missions because every 5 wins they get more penance points and there in lies the problem.

A lot of console players have access to Darktide now - I even talked to a few that switched to console because their PC couldn’t handle it. New updates attract new players. There also are not a lot of games like Darktide on the market so it is to be expected the learning curve is drastic at higher difficulties.

I also have nothing against console players. It is just they do not have the tools necessary to survive at the highest difficulties unless they are playing with pro gamer levels of sensitivity on their controller

If you go play damnation for 2 hours and then you go play hi shock auric missions there is little to no difference between the quality of teammates and its extremely obvious in the pre game lobby just by checking gear alone. Let alone dealing with all the leavers who go down and instantly leave or people who generally lack any and all fundamentals of the game. Unfortunately bad players have infested every difficulty and that includes maelstrom. Due to the havoc requirement maelstrom is filled with fresh level 30 bubble perma smite psykers who suck at the game but wanna go lose havoc missions until theyre demoted all the way to havoc 9 just so they can experience new content they arent at all equipped to be playing. I also had a perma smite psyker in my havoc 22 mission the other day who left when I asked why he wasnt using a staff for like 10 minutes straight and we proceeded to lose with a bot shortly after. Good ole havoc experience lol

I have 2,000 hours in darktide and I play on xbox and I only play hi shock and maelstrom missions nowadays. Yeah there are alot of people on console playing with default controls jumping instead of dodging but its not like the game tells you anywhere you shouldnt be doing that. Also it has nothing to do with console and more so with bad players in general. I have seen many horrible players on pc even thought they do not have any of the advanced movement restrictions we do on controller. The real problem are the people playing darktide blind flying up the difficulties because they want more money and resources when half of them dont even know how to craft. People just refuse to take the time to learn the game cuz theyve watched too many videos of people playing hi shock and maelstrom missions and they obviously feel left out if they arent as well.

I am not saying its because of console players I am saying the recent spike in players with less experience is going to stem from the recent PS5 release that came with the update most likely.

There has been a huge issue with people punching above their weight for a long time. I have made multiple posts and been told more than a few times “don’t tell people what to do with their time”. Same with leavers, you call them out and get told “don’t tell others how to play or spend their time” lol.

A drastic decrease in quality is usually due to an increase in quantity. An increase in quantity of players is actually a net good for the health of the game. Give the newbies some time to get up to your standards, havoc was just added. You’re definitely not wrong about it but also see it for the good news it is, more friends (but less rations i suppose).

If you just bought the game a week ago you should not for any reason be in a hi shock auric mission and thats more so what im saying. People playing far out of their league got worse after the penance update and has slowly gotten worse since then. Before that update people who constantly go down in regular damnation games had zero reason to ever play auric or maelstrom, unfortunately penances changed that though. Every 5 games they get carried they get more penance points and thats all that matters to them. Also people dont care about penance rewardsconsidering most of them suck, they care about seeing a number go up and completing something.

It’s been like this for most of the last year really, I just gave up on doing stuff with randos the last few months and the frustration has dropped dramatically. Before that I was screening the lobbies more rigorously and that helped a ton.

To add insult to injury, the flip side of this is you’d often get good high-level players players suffering from terminal Main Character syndrome. They contribute to the clown show as they simply can’t be bothered to help with any “NPC tasks” unless the mission forces them in the same area, and line-of-sight with them is purely accidental.

We, the community at large bear some of the blame here as not only bad and selfish behavior wasn’t punished, it was rewarded.

P.S. I’d still love to opt-out of console (controller) cross-play.

Another thing that’s been bothering me too is people not taking health when they need it. Idk if it’s a “pride” thing, but holy sht… They need to take it they think taking it makes them lesser or something? I mean, I’m an above average player & I still take health when I need it. So, maybe people are just not humble enough? Happened in a lot of Hacvo games recently. On the mic I just say; “Please take it… I’m not losing another game.” They’ll just go “I’m good” or “I’m actually comfortable on low health.” It’s crazy! The same people go down right, but still think they’re good & don’t need health, lol. It just amazes me… I’m mentally puzzled by this one.

I had two such guys in a game yesterday and many seem not to see the health station, or not to realize they can use it. I pinged it several times as those guys were half dead (the med before the stairs into a cellar on dark communion) and one continued walking downwards, the other carme up looking at me like what’s up bro. I fired a shot at the med so he finally took his heal, and thanked me, so didn’t he see it in broad daylight?

That ties into my post above about people who follow some route on autopilot and ignore everything that’s a bit outside of that.

The most common thing I see is people sprint for the race to get specials, and when they don’t get any, the whole team sprints right into a wall of “sh!t our team can’t handle” laced with a sweet zing of “Now we’re spread out because of pressure.” Divided, and conquered because everyone wants to be the hero.

Yeah, for sure, but the guys I’m talking about by their level, Insignias & frames are not new at all. That’s why I’m puzzled. A level 400 something Zealot with a Dueling sword too. He was decent enough taking out stuff just that every health station he blew past. I tried healing him with a med stim only for him to say ‘save it man.’ I’m like, you literally already went down once & I’m giving you health so we can win. He seemed super pissed for whatever crazy reason. Literally about 3-4 games so far this happened. People have an ego-trip & think they’re better than they actually are. He was no John Darktide at all… decent, but yeah. I hardly go down in games personally… but I still take my meds no matter what. It’s just frustrating losing many games because of this crap.

Well it’s true tho so I don’t get your sarcasm. I play on console and carried plenty of PC players. Luckily not all pc players are assholes and most of the ones I met in game are nice people, but you PC people on the forum are insufferable.

Yeah, it’s because consoles are poverty level gameplay (Kidding). It doesn’t necessarily matter if people play on console. If you’re used to playing with a controller, it’s totally fine. I used to be a console player, but over the years, I’ve moved over to PC like maybe 15-years-ago or something. I feel like I have more control with a mouse & keyboard with these types of games just personally, plus I get better frames, etc. All that noise. I actually do still use a controller with some games though. Just not shooter types is all.

Overestimating his abilities I guess. So he thinks he’s inferior if he needs health and you don’t.

Tbh I often let others heal first when we’re all beaten up but I play zealot with holy revenant, at least I can come back from the dead and they can’t. But if there’s a full heal available, just get it.
