Matchmaking is rough even on Malice

Past few days I’ve noticed a massive shift in the general skill level of people I’m being matched with. Feels like the good players either left or are specifically doing premades while the general quick match queue has a high concentration of low quality players. A lot of these people don’t even grasp basic game play mechanics like using your melee weapon in melee combat, dodging, blocking, and sliding. People are suddenly not tagging targets, using healing, knowing what #4 does, and even not knowing to get in the choppa to leave at the end.

What is going on? Have we entered the CoD phase or something?

I noticed the same thing actually. Most of the players now are absolutely useless in randoms. I used to be able to complete malice with randoms almost everytime, but now its like one completion our of 5.

Nah 40k brings in tons of people, so there’s a ton of players ignorant to our long studied dance of dodging/blocking/pushing. The game tutorial is bad for it too (though at least they tell you what push attacks are, instead of this being secret tech like VT2 lol).

I would imagine most of the players who have played enough to become “skilled” at the game burned themselves out and moved on to other things. It’s not like there’s end-game content.

Your opinion that if someone plays a game for X amount of time that hey are somehow invalidated is in itself invalid. You’ve now spread this nonsense across multiple threads and no one is buying it.

Bye bye!

I had this XP from the start of pre-launch beta. Not all the time, but occasionally.

It’s not a big issue - the game has only been out for a month and people will learn.
My fear is that a lot of people just refunded or “may come back” because of itemization, performance issues or something else. Looks like it will become a niche game like VT and then you’ll see more experienced players, but it might become more difficult to find a game.

Also, there may be an issue with simply low-level players in Malice. This issue has been discussed heavily, and I always suggested not to let players below lvl 15 in Malice, but said that in a month or two, it will not even matter because most people will be lvl 30 anyway.

This is not really an “issue”. Malice is easy doable for a bunch of overall good players or those who´ve played V2 at level 3. (When it gets unlocked unless the missions are buggy.) For all others the only real important “buff” comes with level 5 and the toughness trait.

Of course not everyone played V2, is able to learn fast, whatever. But there is also a bunch of poeple just trying the higher difficulties, because the first 2 get stale pretty fast. Also the longer they wait to gain experiences, the worse they´ll be once they start malice / heresy or even damnation. That´s why you even have level 30 players sucking hard on malice. They never learned to block / dodge properly, because they leveled on uprising mostly and outscaled everything anyway. Then they sit there on their range weapon, rushing through the map and die poorly.

EDIT: The game should actually force the players to play atleast on malice via weeklies etc… to make sure that players will grow and learn stuff on the “normal difficulty”. Those are unlocked at 11, so it should be fine.
Also it´ll help to have more games open later on malice / heresy, which will be the most played difficulties at some point anyway.

Your right I’m not sure what’s going on but I find it pretty funny watching people learn

Maybe they are testing out the new bot ai on us

Notice when they all kill themselves in random funny ways that its always someone else’s fault. In groups like this you frequently end up the last man standing. Then enjoy then inevitable rude comment as you die trying to solo you way to their captured bodies. Even if its to a magical teleporting dog or a sniper shooting through the terrain or some other know bug.

They ignore pointers on the map the run off solo they eat ammunition for every meal. They die and get picked up many many times but ignore team mates downed or getting swamped they go scope blind constantly throw themselves off ledges its really funny.

But its your fault at the end because you cant traverse the map to resurrect them one more time lol.
