Sure she’s an employee, but outside of official blog posts etc one assumes she writes her own comments - and thus chooses what she writes as a comment deep in a long thread. She could have chosen to not say what she said, even if someone higher up is feeding her that kind of nonsense whenever she brings up crafting.
If she asks her bosses why the locks are still in the game, and they replied “Aliens made me do it” she probably would not feel the need to communicate that in a comment on the forums.
On the other hand, it could be her way of trying to let us know about the absurd thinking that goes on among the higher ups at FS. Put it in a comment to let us know what she’s dealing with. Who knows.
It’s also a straight up lie. It’s absolutely not the minority that hates the crafting and suggesting anything else is just a straight lie.
If it was the minority, why are we not seeing more people defending the gacha crafting? If only a minority has a problem with it, it would be exponentionally more likely to hear such feedback…
The reality is that this positive crafting feedback does not exist and the current crafting benefits nobody except the statistics, which is why it’s being kept in the game at. all. costs.
I’m willing to believe this more than anyone actually thinking that we like the current implementation of crafting. No amount of actual insanity would justify such obvious bullsh!t. You have to be defending this anti-agency, anti-choice design because you know it’s psychologically manipulative and makes for higher playtime and therefore better retention stats to show to the shareholders.
Of course in general terms it is true that people are more likely to comment on a feature they don’t like, than log in to comment on a feature they do like. On the whole this is true, so in general it’s not wrong to say that most people might like/be fine with feature XYZ even if there is some negative feedback.
When it comes to this issue though, the feedback has been almost completely universal in one direction. And it’s not just the forums and reddit. There are articles on reputable gaming sites about DT’s crafting. There are youtube videos from paid content creators that discuss the locks and the crafting in very negative ways.
On top of all of that, the game has lost a massive amount of players. The ‘silent majority’ excuse stops holding water in the face of all of this.
There’s several other post if I recall correctly, I got to burned out about caring (being a WH40k and Vermintide fan) being hopefull about this game just was too much, I straight left for half a year. It was just not in my capability to invent ways to enjoy a game that wants me to stop enjoying it and JUST PLAY MORE, YOU MIGHT GET SOMETHING YOU LIKE.
The new update is sort of nice, if only they could’ve gone the actually player agency way and skipped all the “have a +5% increment to a stat you cant see here” sTUFF and really made it user friendly to change your playstyle.
Locks are still in crafting. I wanted to try a thing today, any new thing, wasted half of my resources and got jack shimbles(is that a word, now it is.) Nvm I haven’t collecte… yeah, same old. A steaming pile of horrible, wrongly understood, corporate, mobilegame retention excrement is still just that.
Edit. Hey, atleast the forums are a great way to teach you how to work around one of the most common english words that we all do every day. (hopefully, see a physician if this word is not in your daily routine.)
I don’t really believe theres a will to change it. So I stopped playing. I know some of you maintain this hope that somehow it’ll get changed. But the way I see it, if they wanted to do something of substance about it, they would have by now. Plausible deniability is long gone at this juncture.
so when the returning players and console players start complaining about the crafting system (once they figure out how to interact with it) like we have, will they then do something?
put the plasteel costs to where it was with the relog coupon and I would be very happy with it.
Crafting is now, bar none, my single biggest impediment to enjoyment. I want to poke around the build trees, but I’m limited by what gear I have that’s decent to work with that, for no reason beyond some C-suite nepo baby having seen 5 minutes of a presentation on how to attract whales in video games and deciding to shoehorn in as much of it as possible.
But yelling about it hasn’t solved anything. We’ve been doing that for a year. It’s blatantly obvious it’s not going to change.
Never settle for less than what we, as paying customers, deserve. This crafting system is trash, and no amount of reductions in the cost can save it from how trash it actually is. The system needs to be removed from the game and redone from the ground up. Tolerating an awful system still leaves you with an awful system, and encourages the developer to stay the course.
The crafting system is garbage. Rip it out fatshark.
After the trees I think we’ll have to wait for them to bring some more new content while we wait for a crafting rework. Right now my current gripe is grabbing weapons, concsecrating them and hope they have a blessing I don’t have already so I can rip it apart for the blessing.
So be perfectly clear back at them. Drag fatshark’s name through the mud, downvote the games, give them bad press. Be perfectly clear that all of the horror can go away with one easy fix.
It will come to that eventually. Wave of new players from all platforms to that came to the game with Class Overhaul will at some point burn out on frustration received from item acquisition /crafting and will leave a negative review and leave the game. It’s natural process.
No matter how awesome gameplay in missions is, how interesting and flexible and broken builds are - if game tells you to go kark yourself almost each time you try to craft wasting tons of mats on “bricks” - it will overly annoy you eventually.
I popped back in to the forums to see if crafting was fixed, after my Youtube feed started having some Darktide pop back up again after the skill tree change.
Looks like my biggest complaint about the gameplay mechanics is still there. Looks like I’m still not booting up the game and going back to the other games that I’ve been playing. Hopefully I don’t completely forget about this game over the next year waiting for them to actually do something about the crafting. Not holding my breath though, there’s more interesting games out there that don’t waste my time with multiple layers of RNG.
I get you, the gameplay now is REALLY good and fun.
You actually have builds with weapons and talents.
But the amount of sh-t you need to go through to get a weapon you want is insane
However the game is still good to play.
Also the perks on the weapons are imo NOT AS important as they were before because of power of talents.
That means you can swap around blessings more freely (thats if you have them lol)
TBH gameplay was always really good and fun. Being in a mission was always a good time. It was everything outside of that, that was atrocious and crafting was at the top of that list. It was the majority of the reason why I left the game (the final straw was the inverted Y bug that they had), and until they make it so that I can spend more time playing with the toys I get and less time chasing them I’m personally not coming back and not switching my review of the game.
But now on top of gameplay, the talent tree REALLY does make the game better (plus it was a PROMISED LAUNCH FEATURE FATSHARK!)
The old feat system was terribad and boring.
This new system is worth it
