Boo, get the rat bopper back into your active Steam library! >[
Good news is my Elden Ring friends are off to a convention as we speak!
Rat-atouille is back on the menu >:3
has anyone here played Ghosts of Tsushima Legends mode on here?
https://steamdb.info/app/2215430/charts/
It was recently ported to PC, it was a PS4 game originally but it has Legends mode which is co-op story missions, co-op survival missions (survive 15 waves of enemies and defend control points), wide variety of difficulty, and our favorite crafting.
I guarantee you whoever made their system had something to do with Darktide, nearly identical but different in a few key ways. There are no random stat bars on the weapons, the only thing different are their type (wind katana, stone katana, water katana - they are focused on different enemy types) and rarity which as you upgrade them gives you access to 2 perks, then a blessing, and then you can go into mastery and add a second blessing but itâs fairly grindy and requires allot of currency and some of the mastery challenges are tough.
Players earn gear drops after successfully completing objectives and optional objectives as well as the chance to take on a curse that makes it harder.
The no stat bars on the weapons helps allot foundationally, makes it not feel bad at all. Also if you get a bricked weapon you donât like you can just reroll it 100% and get two new perks and blessing. All changes to the weapons cost currency which are 3 types you get from playing and completing, same as gear.
So anyway, you can get a katana, level it all the way up with what you like, master it and youâre done, go use it to kill Oni! No time waste of going to brunts and buying grays so hadron can brick itâŚso disgraceful and disrespectful to the rejectsâŚ
The melee is very good in this game, you can block and do timed parryâs but thereâs no pushing while blocking. I like playing it and when I got into trying to get geared I couldnât believe how similar it was to Darktide BUT, way less RNG and punishing.
Yes⌠but I definitely prefer the Story Mode.
looks at name
looks at join time
Not fooling anyone, Skippy me boy.
I started the campaign but didnât get too far, I have a co-op group and we hopped right into Legends. the story mode is really cool but itâs completely different from Legends, itâs basically a separate game
There lies a problem.
If we reach to a point where every game we played in parallel per week had same progression commitment in time.
âDT progression it is easy to get ideal weaponsâ - If it is the only game you play.
Ghost of Tsushima 4 player horde mode. That I played on PS5 few years ago. It was a bit of good side distraction after completing the game. Main story was where it shines, so one playthrough was enough then disc back in the box and shared around to friends.
exactly!
I was so glad in VT2 when I had all my reds, can just focus on playing the game and not opening chestsâŚ
The HD2 thread apparently got locked so imma weigh in.
HD2 was and mostly is good. But Iâm not gonna be playing it unless something interesting pops up again. While itâs fun, the system demands a little too much time (multiple mission completions for medals for example) and itâs not quite enough for me to be engaged and locked in all the time.
Itâs kinda weird. Itâs got objectively good stuff. Variety of biomes, lots of guns, lots of abilities, a constantly shifting storyâŚyet it still doesnât grab me like Darktide even taking into account the fact that itâs got a lot better UI and overall âplayer friendlinessâ than Darktide.
And I think thatâs because nothing touches Darktideâs visceral combat. I can shoot bugs all day long in HD2, and unleash big old cluster bombs and stuff, but it doesnât tickle my brain in the way Darktideâs melee combat and 4-player co-op counterplay does.
Why am I saying all this?
Because some might act like the reason Iâve stopped with HD2 is their âgenerosityâ in unlocking new gear and weapons, and I donât think thatâs true.
I have pretty much all the gear I want to try in both games. DTâs system has been brute-forced by sheer playtime and HD2 got me everything early. I can definitely experiment more easily in HD2 and pick new playstyles (somewhat, difficulty levels and enemy balancing were a bit jank and forced a bit of an AT meta last I was playing) than I can in Darktide, but overall I have everything I want to use now.
The funny thing is Iâd probably be playing DT even more if I could just customize my weapons freely and easily. Being able to test stuff in the Psykanium or interact with players more would elevate DT from âgood core with rubbish systemsâ to âthis is the best co-op in existence and the fact itâs a Warhammer game terrifies and frightens meâ.
Highest difficulties
Collect all the books, dice etc
Receive Emporer chest
A good example of gating top weapons by pure skill and not artificial playtime.
A good example of earning by playing the actual game and not a click spam armory/crafting static terminal.
Well damn that 15-20% RNG from chest for red weapon though. But OK just means statistically just 6-7 games if in a good team to complete mission with all the extras picked up along the way.
They need to stop forcing us into game menus. The only menu we want to see are build tweaking.
TBH i just played so much of it for like months straight and with any game, no matter how much i enjoy it, i gotta take a break.
Itâs not like i suddenly HATE a game if i even if i stop playing it for a bit but lately itâs been the opposite where there just to many good games coming out. I generally will play a few games, jump off and go âyeah im goodâ but rarely i feel exhausted.
Darktide, especially if i bother to try and get a new weapon, makes me feel exhausted.
Was waiting for that. Nothing new here. Cleaned it up, so back to your regularly scheduled thread!
Funny thing about HD2 weapons. It has no crafting/tweaking of weapons, a missing feature that DT has. But the relief comes from having the weapon and thatâs it donât need to worry about improving it and enjoy the game.
See below. Example of relief of having the weapon then can focus on enjoying the game. That is what HD2 offers youâre on same level playing field as next person without % numbers. But many players wonât like that - They want optimisation, to be unique, try new things.
Gain one thing but lose another. So here HD2 vs DT in weapons - Very mixed opinion. Flat same for all or build variety. Both games require time commitment to reach that stage, guess which one is lesser in time.
The whole lore of HD2 where it is untrained civilians in heavy armor to justify the only evasion move to be face planting dive. Real good strat move technique right there, thatâs it
Then when you grab that zealot with dash, climbing, sliding, mid air movement, knife heavy speedhack you feel wow. Thatâs why I just enjoy combat more in DT. HD2 was uninstalled as result. Not my thing and that is OK as got good hours out of it.
HD2 has a path of content delivery and communication from acknowledgement, bugs, balancing where people are drawn to the good intentions. A CEO that played his own game for fun and spawned unreleased vehicles onto randoms to use for his own amusement. Imagine a leader like that.
cant wait for the âThe Crafting Memorial Memorialâ thread where we just reminisce about how bad the crafting was
knowing who were dealing with we will be lucky if it isnât worse
Add my name to the list.
I was seriously close to writing a rant thread about f***ing crafting just now after getting nothing but t3 blessings all evening. Every single one a t3 blessing that I already owned.
I have been trying to get the last T4 pickaxe blessing for days and days.
My seething hatred for this system is palpable.
Welcome to the club, we got jackets.
(Seriously would be nice to get a cosmetic exclusive in game for this lol. The crafting battalion).
I have a Darktide on a NVMe but it doesnât help when the game game gets stuck in a DNS loop when loading into the Mourningstar.
