The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

Agreed, at this point lock removal would just make the devs feel like they have more time. I was big on the remove the locks push last year, but now the entire system just needs to finally be overhauled. I’m not a gambler and this gambling system has never once felt good to interact with ever.

Lock removal would cause a similar dynamic as the weapon rerolls in VT2. As in, you can eventually reach the desired result without having to start over, but you have to click ten thousand times to get it for no real reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was good enough for them (it was good enough for them in VT2) and it’d certainly allow people to finally just ignore the itemization system once they’re done with the grind (just like in VT2) but they’re hyping this up a bit too much for it to be that. It’s not a “after 6 months wait, finally here it is” type of change.

If they were gonna do that I think they would’ve done it ages ago. To me it seems likely they’re overhauling systems to an extent, I’m only worrying what their design imperatives are. If the RNG is to stay they can design whatever they want it’ll suck

Why I think they won’t remove locks:

It would suddenly spike player count back. But they are afraid progression would so easy, people would lack the goals to carry on playing, so player count will drop off again. But they don’t realise adding maps/weapons on a schedule is what counters that. That is what will sustain.

You know that is benefit of smaller dev studios. Less decision chain and more decisive then responsive to changes. You don’t need sign off/approval along the way. Allows faster reaction and adapt to players.

It is a game dev’s dream to go solo and decide everything themselves and reap all the rewards.

I also don’t believe in censorship.

The ignore is there to use. I just wish there was an extension to it whereby if someone responds to that ignored person, just that conversation by association is also ignored.

But not permanently ignore the person responding to the ignored person. Haha if you know what I mean!

Means it cuts out the tennis match of insults.

When someone attempts to provoke another - The goal is to invoke response. Ignoring someone means you don’t give them that very satisfaction and therefore implies you don’t care. Annoys them more

Filter out the noise and you get to read from the people that matter you are aligned with in thinking.

Much more pleasant experience and saves time.

Do you mean ignore within thread but not forum? That’d be a cool feature.

True, but I don’t ignore people on here. I like reading everyone’s thoughts on this game - I find opinions on Darktide to be very interesting to me, this is probably the only game where I actively want to read EVERYTHING in what both the detractors and defenders have to say. For me to use the ignore function you’ll have to do something really, really, terrible; so far everyone I’ve seen on here is perfectly normal in relative to my years on four-chan and Rpgcodex. More often than not if I see a discussion not going anywhere I just scroll down until I see something else that’s interesting to read.

Also, very important, as important as it is to not waste one’s time on unproductive discussions it’s also important to not get caught up in echo chambers. This is how perspectives can get warped, distorted, and get completely out of touch. Back in college I had to do a paper on algorithms and how they’re dividing us in social media; and it’s a real danger when you get caught up in these echo chambers because more often than not it always results in negative consequences - like developers making weird sequels, or politicians passing confusing policies.

I just wish some of the people who post on this forum didn’t take this forum stuff so seriously to the point where they get stuffy. Just listen to some hip hop as you post and relax (this online stuff isn’t serious):

Most of us are playing a character, some of us are just passing time, others are just trying to get emotional support from wasting time/money on Darktide.

Either way, if you need to ignore people then   all the power to ya bub.
Play characters, have fun, kill time, what have you, but the moment you gotta ignore someone-
