The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

I try to be as detailed as possible in my reviews. I have friends who work in the games industry, they’re all Indie Devs. One she is a freelancer and she even told me that reading reviews helps them in figuring out issues. Honestly if people took atleast 1 minute to write “I hate X,” even just knowing there is an issue helps a ton. However your average user is too used to other spaces where reviews are either used to be malicious or someone felating the company with their review.

In my friend group I’ve been actually trying to get my friends to actually think about the media they engage with. Thinking and actually reviewing things also helps with media literacy which is an issue all on its own.

You’re right, that goes for any review, whether it’s good or bad. People’s thoughts can definitely change over time.
And that’s my point. This thread is a disservice to the players who want to make change because it doesn’t take these into account. It would be better to have a new thread which references others at each major patch which addresses the crafting system, and note the returning players who are still voicing their frustrations, and anyone who has a current disagreement with the system rather than anyone who has ever had a disagreement at any stage of the crafting iterations.

So put yourselves to the challenge.
Put a thread out after every release. If you’re dedicated to change, you’ll sign it every time. Make sure to reference the other threads in previous posts. Get people to participate and make their voices current.
At every dissatisfied iteration of crafting, make a new thread rinse and repeat. Make your demographic measurable instead of sticking to confirmation bias threads like this. I’m not going to bother begging people to come here to say why or how it’s good; people don’t need to. Complacency coincides with Contentment.
Kinda silly for the burden of proof to be on the defense when the point of prosecution is to prove beyond reasonable doubt.

Or how about you do it. I think we’ve done enough. Go put some leg work in yourself to see how many people ENJOY the systems as they are.

Do they need to say the words for it to be an apology? That’s kinda screwy. I know what they mean. I know what they’re doing, so does any news site that was reporting on them.

Complete crafting system? We have it. You may not like it, but we have it.
THe game is stable now, it didn’t use to be. Far more disconnects were happening back then.
We have the talent system that we wanted.
I’m not sure what they mean by progression loop. If my assumption is correct that it’s easier for us to swap between builds easier and have more build variety, we have that too.

So… Im not really sure what you’re talking about. Maybe for you the promise hasn’t been met, but for me it has.

Well, how many people are playing daily?
Those players are either fine with it, ignoring it, or still playing the system. It’s still negligible an issue that they continue to play DT. We have people in this thread who say that they stopped playing because of this system. Seems like a good separation to me.

Next upcoming major patch should be the crafting/itemisation update. But if you feel up for it going forward go for it.

Change on opinions tend to come from improvements of game (atleast the ones each given person cares about), those changes in turn come from feedback or voicing issues players have with the game and that is what this thread is.

Yes, if people take to much issue with parts of any game, they will not play because of it. Some will as you’ve said, just play regardless because the good parts outweigh the bad ones.

We have data. You don’t think it’s good enough. Fine.

Go get some. Make threads on Reddit, steam, and discord. Make informal polls. Make YouTube reviews. Browse reviews for console and PC. People playing with and without mods. Get any sources, from yourself or browsing what others did.

As a usual paradigm, I am content with the information we have. If you want to push for a paradigm shift, instead of talking in circles show your commitment and go get some hard data yourself.

But then he would have to do work and could be - gasp - proven wrong!

If you’re satisfied, then good for you.
I think you’re misunderstanding me, I was trying to offer a suggestion on how to make your thread more relevant - how to be more effective at what you’re already doing.

I have no desire to do such work. I’m content with the game. Why do I wanna put energy to that? What is the end game?

That door swings both ways.

Its easy to just get people to sign here throughout the history of the game and treat it as completely relevant today (when it isn’t).

We can’t even mark the reviews in here as outdated? I could be snide and snarky like your comment, but I think I’ll take the high road on that one.

The crafting system isn’t innocent until proven guilty.

If you seem so sure that there’s a silent majority out there go and find them. Bring back some evidence of their existence. Shouldn’t be too hard if there’s so many of them.

If you had to commit to one hypothesis, whether it’s good or bad, the conclusion is bad. You may not think the data is good enough. But there’s literally 0 evidence to suggest the alternative. So you would HAVE to accept the hypothesis as a paradigm until other information is presented further.

Darktide doesn’t exist in a vaccum. There have been lots of games that have had poor launches, making players feel frustrated with this constant mindset of releasing an unfinished game and maybe fixing it later.

If they had actually cared, they could have released it later. These corporate apologies always come off as trying to save face instead of being sincere, even if they are.

It is a complete crafting system, although an unrewarding one imo.

Stability and preformance was fixed, although that took a massive nose dive after the recent Penance update.

I don’t believe we got a more rewarding progression loop. If they mean leveling process than I guess so because you get a talent point every level? But that’s not a very important piece of the game for me so I don’t really care.

The whole thing had me rolling my eyes and maybe being even more frustrated. I think a dev blog instead of an “apology” talking about the future would’ve gone over much better.

This entirely seems like deflection to avoid having to acknowledge that you really don’t have anything besides shouting “SILENT MAJORITY!” and as a result are trying anything you can to paint the results as irrelevant even though it’s both had new responses after every major change to crafting and is probably the most active thread on the form while also many people coming back to comment “yeah i still hate this”.

You’re t he one who challenged the data, we gave you responses and more data, and you in turn said “Well i don’t need to prove anything” while dodging providing any kind of proof yourself.

In short it feels like you are just here to try and waste everyone’s time.

I mean they can (not) say that all they want, but they weren’t putting out regular patches before the xbox release either. If you’re implying microsoft verification process is holding them back I think you should reconsider.

That’s the best part. They promised to fix the pain points of Darktide and delay the xbox launch.
Immediately afterwards there were no significant patches until the xbox port came out, proving it was just empty PR babble. Crazy how that is now being reenvisioned as “they apologized and changed course”

They had the audacity to not apologize at first. That’s why people ate them alive. The apology came after that.

Oh, I see the problem: you feel that Steam/Gamespass crossplay, all of the “coming soon” crafting sub-systems, loadouts, the chaos spawn, the hunting grounds rework, the various economy changes (including shared wallets), shock troop gauntlet, second round of penances/gear, auric mission board, quickplay bonuses, various gameplay/balance changes and 2 new maps are “2 weapon reskins.”

GOTCHA!
