The Crafting Memorial; lest we forget

since we are in casino, i put my pastel on negative review

Crafting fix would be great and I’m all for it. However now the problem is with how it’ll be implemented. If it’s something that’s taken a lot of time to change, than what else has suffered for that? Are we going to get better crafting and 1 map, but than not get ANY new content until September, October or November? Wish we got a quick band aid crafting fix, and than focused on providing more mission content over the summer break to hold everyone over until Autumn.

I hope this gets traction.

Crafting is about 5% of my gripes about this game. God awful mission select, pointless customization, terrible lack of builds, 4 measly classes, repetitive voicelines, zero story, bland environments, cheap spawns, buggy collectables, lack of end game, fairly uninspired enemies, laughable bosses, lack of enemy variety, low variety of objectives/events, unbelievably generic missions, poor game performance, long loads, annoying dialogue, unbalanced weapons, boring weapons and abilities, recycled ā€˜content’, and Fatshark’s lies. With all that, 5% is fairly significant.

My ordered list would be:

  1. God awful mission select
  2. Lack of classes
  3. Lack of maps
  4. Fatshark’s lies
  5. Fatshark’s complete disregard for their playerbase.
  6. low variety of objectives/events
  7. unbelievably generic missions
  8. Unbelievably uninspired modifiers
  9. Endlessly forcing modifiers on the players
  10. unbalanced weapons
  11. Infinibrick ultragrind lockmachine
  12. boring abilities
  13. terrible lack of builds
  14. lack of enemy variety (could use more, not bad)

Their mismanagement of their customers will destroy their product way worse than their mismanagement of their product.

about boring abilities and lack of builds, at least for vet these could be trivialy fixed if there were modifiers for maps so that there is less shooters but more big bois. then builds against bigger enemies would make sense

now obviously volley fire with continous reset on yellow kill is a must, but if yellow guys would not be there… suddenly other build optiona for these maps would be compelling.

there is soo many things you can make out of exiting ingredients just nothing gets done. mindblowing

This game is a pale shadow of what VT2 had in it at launch.
Sure, VT had ā€œa few bugsā€ too.
But it had 13 DIFFERENT maps, 15 classes, more bosses, more enemies (I don’t consider a recolour from yellow to metal a difference)

I remember the back-end issues being just as big a cluster-fig in VT2. The second most prevalent critique was the road-map. The third would be the silence, which came after the first two.

Fully agree with the below though

and wouldn’t mind adding

  • a progression sytem with player agency, and
  • a way to choose which maps maps and modifiers (to an extent) to play.

I agree that there’s a lot of rose-tinted-glasses about VT2 launch. I mean the entire stagger/cleave system didn’t work and they didn’t know until a member of the community pointed it out. 0.o. There was even mass confusion about which version was actually live. I mean come on everyone, VT2 was a pretty horrid launch… but…

And I’d add there was a lot of nice map variety too. Open fields of Against the Grain to the smashed up Empire in Flames. Frozen North, Empire Temples, Murky Warcamp. It was just much harder to get art-style fatigue in VT2.

Silence is now how they communicate their ā€œcomms linkā€ now. You need to ba a sanctioned Psyker to have the faintiest incling via the warp of WTAF is going on. Possibly an Ulthuan Eldar Warlock might be able to peer into the twists of fate to find out the big update end of May is going to break loads of stuff, launch 50 new cosmetics and increase the shop timer to 2 hours while adding extra locks to crafting somehow and reducing the drop rate of materials.

Dev’s are like C3PO after his mind got wiped, making all the same c0ck-ups as before while tootling around with a baffled look on his face say ā€œoh myā€ when the customers kick off about their product.

I wonder what the difference between these two games is? Could it be that in one of them, I’ve been able to painlessly make what I what whenever I want for ages, allowing me to easily experiment and try out new builds? Whilst in the other, I will have to deal with obnoxious levels of RNG no matter how much time I put into the game? Who can say, it is a mystery, we just don’t know etc.

Without any subclasses and lame skill trees what else is there to customize and ā€˜experiment’ with? Their whole pre-release pitch was making your own unique character and in-depth customization allowing for fun, interesting, and unique builds that change how you play the game. We have the exact opposite.

There are hundreds of games that have figured out a formula that works, so plenty of inspiration to draw from. Yet somehow they still managed to completely miss the target.

Maybe we just need to roll out onto reddit and steam at this point. Share the love.

I know not everyone has the highest opinions of TideTubers but JTCLive stands as one of the most well informed content creators in the community.

But he still makes mistakes.

#4 in his video:
Having the ability to combine blessings to level them up, does not bring much value and does not actually help players to experiment with anything.

  • If a blessing exists on T3 and T4, you could combine T3 variants to create a T4. Unlocking that T4 only allows you to use the same blessing that you already have, but at a slightly more powerful tier.
  • If a blessing only exists on T4, you still have no additional way of obtaining it.

We would need a way to unlock blessings of choice.

#5 in his video:
A new tier of items that always has T4 perks and T4 blessings is pretty much pointless. Especially because he suggests this in combination with lock removal.

  • If locks are removed (which they should be), you can choose both perks and both blessings anyway, so it does not matter what the weapon originally came with.

We would need a new item tier with maxed modifiers (or even better: the ability to upgrade the modifiers of the items that we already have).
Anything else would be pointless, once the locks are gone.
