The Book of Grudges: May Each Be Struck in Time

played too souls franchise and i never had issues with camera/motion sickness in those games

i seen this clip sent by Harri, and in fact gave me motion sickness right away with that camera movement xd, hope they will add some option to reduce motion sickness with those camera movements

also it is very subjective with motion sickness, so each person can feel different things
so yea i think the answer was a bit too rude too. mixedletters didn’t even criticize the game itself, just the technical aspect which is valid opinions. i also do think the visual effects for that game are bit too overused, which seems sadly a curse for unreal engine 5 games, unless they balance very well the vfx effects.

I’m about too loose it.
Karking Havoc deranking system! KARK IT, KARK IT AAAALLL!
This week was chain of failures (some mine, some just director being an ass).
In short I’ve got demoted from 33 to 22 in two days of playing.
I was dead set on trying to play 34 and can you guess what did I get for my trouble?
After depression, bargaining, I’ve played 29 and got back to 24 for my trouble.
I know. I know - that’s how system works but I’m so incredibly pissed off I…
Krak it…

reminds me of that point in tarkov when you got a full stash of really good stuff and the only way to “win” is to not play and keep it safe… :man_shrugging:

such design, much fun

I am explaining to you I have had absolutely no issue with the camera and it never crossed my mind there was an issue with the camera so I really can’t grasp in my mind how someone could play Elden Ring and then play this and actually complain at all. How many people praise those games as GOTY and more yet the camera is still atrocious and got no changes in what, how long has the souls series been around and the camera is STILL terrible?

Then we get a game that finally breaks the mold of the last ten years - amazing quality soundtrack, voice acting, story, combat, exploration, graphics and more. Could easily get a price tag of $80 and it would be completely justified. Studio with 30 people, a small fraction of what these triple A companies get. Instead of praising it and giving credit where credit is due, people complain about the camera.

This video is a perfect example of why I have the attitude I do - you can do everything right and create an amazing game yet people will STILL find something to complain about. I understand its okay to give solutions to problems and such but it amazes me how people find literally anything to complain about. We are in a time where the gaming industry is filled with $70 trash and they’re literally trying to steal our money yet when something comes around that is finally good, guess what? Complain, complain, complain. Sometimes its better to just eat your pride and accept that perfection is never going to be something we acquire as human beings unless you want to live a miserable life.

I dunno, Dwarf Fortress is peak video games in my opinion. I find it hard to play and get into, but it’s just too cool to hate.

Jokes aside, the very fact that no work is perfect is exactly why criticism is important - not just for media analysis, but critical thinking as a whole. $70 slop is churned out precisely because people are not criticizing the media they consume enough to realize that practice X is bad or gameplay element is unfun.

Granted, all criticism must also be criticized itself, and sometimes that critique is just very stupid in the first place, but the fact that it exists at all is proof that someone is engaging with the medium beyond just being entertained by it and moving beyond it. Even people who love things will complain about the things they love. That’s normal.

If Expedition 33’s camera, something that is literally always there in every aspect of the game, is ass, people should rightfully complain about it! The developers should add accessibility options to reduce or remove the camera motion! Why is someone’s motion sickness invalid because “the rest of the game is great and it’s made by a tiny indie studio”?

As funny as this is, I don’t know if this is the thread for it, beyond griping about the fact that Fatshark should be doing better since a studio about 1/8th the size is apparently kicking their ass.

I think studios 1/100 of the size of fatshark have outdone them considerably

Something something schedule 1, balatro

Right, but there’s a big difference in nitpicking like your given example and not being able to enjoy a game due to factors like motion-sickness. Which is a matter of accessibility and I believe that shouldn’t be mocked like in your previous responses.

The Soulsborne series’s camera is entirely different and it’s a camera that the player is in control of unless you use the targeting camera which is the part that often receives (valid) criticisms and complaints. But in E33’s combat, the player has no control of the camera at all and there doesn’t seem to be an in-game setting to help players who may need or want to change how much it moves around (yet).

I do think that FromSoft’s gotten much better in handling their targeting camera VS big body enemies, comparing the targeting camera against Midir/Amygdala and Elden Ring’s big enemies I think they’ve done great at improving that experience.

Honestly, I recommend that in future cases if you don’t understand what someone’s saying that you either ask what they mean or that you don’t engage at all. So you don’t end up spewing assumptions and/or attacks that are completely unwarranted.

It’s incredibly sad to me, Fatshark’s very capable but they messed up really badly with Darktide and it’s been an incoherent game from day one to current day.

Rant

What’s the vision that FS has? The playable characters have no character and it took really long to establish a sort-of story narrative. What are they even doing behind the scenes? Why’d it take them TWO YEARS to change the crafting system that had near-unanimous feedback? Why does it take months to get something that should be simple, done? And for bugs reported from day one never getting fixed. I thought a big part of the reason FS was reusing “tilesets” or assets from area levels was that it’d help with production to make it easier to create more in the future but VT2’s getting more interesting and more unique levels more often than Darktide is. And that’s with Darktide’s dev team being much larger. Why does a weapon set teased in 2024 get delayed to 2026? That’s 17 months at minimum and 29 months at max. That’s INSANE.

I take psychic damage whenever I think about it.

Are fatshark’s management geriatric or something

Like this company is consistently incomprehensible when it comes to how incompetent they are and what things they are very stubbornly obstinate on.

well they tend to stick to some original concept and take half measures following feedback. best example was crafting as said above, it took them almost 2 years despite almost daily complaints, and in the end a tiny bit of the RNG concept (the base weapon) just had to be kept for some reason, although it’s completely insignificant, players will just buy greys until they get the desired stat distribution instead of buying one and adjusting some sliders.

regarding this fomo shop, i expect it to change only when required by law. which is mind-blowing, as i’d like to buy some things i missed but literally can’t, and sure as hell i won’t buy some consolation prizes just because they’re there.

it would be better if fatshark would invent some pseudo excuse or just being honest like:
“we are working for the next upcoming game in unreal engine 5” it would be much better

but if they would, then prob backleash xd
cause they can’t find proper time for DT content.
it is kinda the situation we had in vt2, we were not getting any content because of dt development. (Even tho they said it wasn’t impacting the VT2 development, it kinda did).
it is the same thing again. new upcoming game it is impacting DT development now.

premium careers especially necromancer also had some slow down times xd
but because they said they wanted to be sure about balance reasons, so i assume it may because they want to deliver something balanced at day one. and may be the same for those weapons. but obv it doesn’t really make sense this, cause they could just deliver, for then nerfing/buffing later quick (moonfire bow xd).

so yea they sadly have some issues at managing content, which is the bad part. i think they should hire more competent developers. some of the nice VT2 devs that worked also on DT, they left. and now it looks like we are not getting any communication of anything again

i just hope the new game won’t repeat the mistakes from the launch of darktide with bugs and gacha-rng-mechanics that brought the game from 105k to 5k players.

i have no patience for this. let people play what they want.

just by looking at fatshark and past games, sadly they will repeat the same mistakes xd

And curios, where you can’t escape the RNG at all. I’m still regularly checking the armoury on every character to find perfect curios almost 400hrs in. Ok, I want 6 each (17 toughness, 21 health and 3 stamina) but still…

ah, forgot about curios. tbh they announced a curio rework back when crafting was finally fixed but nothing happened. it can’t be so hard to simply let us buy whatever curio and empower them to 21 h / 17 t / 3 s as we can with any weapon. sure, perhaps there’s more in the works for curios, but that would be the quickest fix for players who still have to camp the shop like in the days of hadron’s brick factory.

also afaik there’s still this bug that a 400 or 410 stamina curio wil give you only +2 stamina, you need a 420 or 430 to be sure having +3

It’s honestly just a really good story. Even if the hybrid turn based and action combat wasn’t the way that it was, it would still be worth playing. You also can finish the main story in like 20-35 hours without having to do all the side content.

Although you should do the side content (post-credit roll, if you do it all first you will be over-leveled) because that’s where some of the best fights are.

Turns out those French people are alright, modern Ubisoft notwithstanding.

Ah hell, I forgot about this as well. At this point the failure to materialize for the curio rework is a grudge!
