I started this thing about a year ago, initially with the intent to catalogue ‘forgotten’ bugs and issues, then expanding to just cataloguing the consistent pain points of the community.
The single. Biggest. Problem. Is the cosmetics store. I want you to see the year of consistent, uninterrupted complaints, because virtually every single person I can find at minimum thinks the FOMO store has to go, and virtually no aspect of the store in its current state or the lack of free alternatives is considered acceptable.
Yet y’all remain totally silent, and nothing changes. This is the single most hated aspect of Darktide left standing and you won’t say a word on it.
So please. Look at the evidence here.
Cosmetics are near-universally agreed to be overpriced, especially regiment-specific ones. This is also accompanied by complaints about ‘reskins’ and ‘palette swaps’, where all that materially changes about a given cosmetic is the color, despite being sold at full price - OR AT A HIGHER PRICE. Bundles have had all their interesting bits stripped out while being sold at the same price as other, more complete sets. The below bullet points sum up the issues in the linked threads.
Free cosmetics, whether weapon skins or outfits, have a lamentable lack of variety as well. They typically go un-updated for new weapons.
In addition to being overpriced, cosmetics often are cheaply and shoddily made to the point of not even having different body types to accommodate the two different body types offered at character creation.
There also used to be weapon skin bundles for 800 Aquilas, that had skins for every single weapon. These have been replaced by individual skins for around the same price points, effectively something like a 2000% price increase.
A single mod - For the Drip - uses the exact same tools Fatshark itself uses to recolor and resell cosmetics. For free, you can unlock far more variety and superior fashion than hundreds of dollars worth of cosmetic buying.
they made like 90m $ in gross revenue, more than 3m copies sold and they are still greedy about premium cosmetic shop, skins in general, earnable aquilas and also doing radio silence as usual
less communication recently, i guess summer holidays in advance
To add on to the FTD argument, Extended Weapon Customization and its addons do what Fatshark promised in the beta. Without the extensive ways I could bling out my weapons and character, I don’t think I would keep playing this game - being stylish is important to me.
The fact that not only is the style so limited, but that kitbashing parts from pieces you’ve gathered isn’t even allowed (and i’m not talking about equipping different slots from different sets, that looks bad too though), really takes away from part of the appeal of Warhammer - you are creating Your Dudes. Spess Mehreen 2 had better character customization, for crying out loud, even letting you go downright heretical.
Luckily Expedition 33 just released and proved to EVERYONE what a dev team with PASSION can accomplish. People were forgetting what an actual game looked like because of the absolute trash these corporations have been shoveling down our throat the last five years. NONE and I mean NONE of these bigger companies have ANY excuse anymore.
Expedition 33 was made by 30 people and is $45 and provides more content/quality than EVERY triple A release save for Red Dead Redemption 2. This means a team with a literal FRACTION of the manpower/resources/funding as other companies not only absolutely shat on every triple A release but MONUMENTALLY EXCEEDED anything the “triple A” scene has provided in recent years.
Microsoft and Nintendo are increasing the prices of their games to $80 and all that’s left to say is SPEAK. WITH. YOUR. WALLET. Everyone complained about switch 2 prices yet they broke pre sales records. I am personally never buying anything related to Nintendo again. Microsoft has a little more leniency when it comes to this but they are still FAR from being able to justify $80 price tags.
What’s that even about? Genuine question. I’ve heard everyone talking about it recently, so it must be alright.
Sony on their way to make a Remaster of The Last of Us Part II Remastered because dipsh*ts keep buying them. Seriously, can’t Sony just put Bloodborne on Steam already? The day’s rainy enough, so what in the Emperor’s name are they saving it for?
I wish I could enjoy Expedition 33, people have been praising it up and down and it does seem to be doing ‘everything right’.
But holy heck that camera just obliterates me. People have recently been complaining about chain weapons/the camera on that by extension, but holy heck that game I swear has it even worse. It could/likely is just a me thing but gods the way every action just bounces the camera view port all around like it’s a snider film on steroids with all the visual effects just demolishes my ability to enjoy anything that’s happening.
Everything else about the game looks immaculate from what I can see, but heck just give me an option to root the camera ‘stand’ in one spot and I’d be so much happier. I don’t need it bouncing over my characters right shoulder then left shoulder then over there head then shack around pan from left to right then jump up over my head then back down under my feet and then the enemy attacks and it wiggles all the fiercer while moving back and forth and I’m just like please just sit stilllllllll.
I don’t even understand what you are complaining about - I have had NONE of the issues you are claiming to have. Literally not 1 second in the near 20 hours I have played has “camera issues” crossed my mind. Camera works perfectly fine for me - I control the camera to pan where I want it in open world - it switches to a set cam in turn based combat. That’s it - you saying the camera is “bouncing over the characters shoulder” are you sure you aren’t throwing your controller against the wall?
Basically to sum it up - that feeling you had as a kid playing those final fantasy games for the first time and experiencing that feeling of awe and wonder. Then you grow up and think you’ll never achieve that feeling again - well guess what.. Expedition 33 has you covered.
Such a bad response bruh. Expedition 33 plays around with the camera and visual effects a lot, it should be totally understandable that it’s just too much for some people.
What Harridas said, seems you like many on here can’t read, so I’m happy to ignore your thoughts from here on in. Always so confusing to me why people log on to forums when they clearly don’t seem to care enough to actually intake information from other people. Why bother pretending your voice matters when you won’t even attempt to read anyone elses? Narcissism and media illiteracy continues to baffle me…
Lmao no it really doesn’t. You guys obviously haven’t played dark souls/bloodborne/elden ring/sekiro or the last thing you’d be doing is complaining about a camera. As I said, 20 hours and never once has the thought crossed my mind about camera issues. To each their own.
Yeah you obviously can’t enjoy video games unless they adhere to your specific standards of BS. Which is why the devs will continue being one of the most successful game releases ever while you are worried about camera angles.
(On top of all the other camera movements in the game)
I have, each soulsborne game except Sekiro and gotten 100% completion on DS1, DS3, BB and almost with ER too. This reads like you’re making things up about other people to justify something to yourself rather than just understanding and accepting you disagree.
@Cosmophase Why are you acting like that? Needlessly rude and almost condescending?
