No. I asked the question. The response was a joke and got people mad. Someone clipped it and send it to telopots. He got mad about the response because he, like many others considers it an actual issue, and the proceeded to direct his chat to keep asking for it.
The ‘spam’ was 4 or 5 people asking the question in a calm manner btw. Meanwhile you had someone fellating Fatshark in chat non stop doing actual spamming being ignored. Quickpaw only deleted/silenced people disliking the lack of response and bad handling of it.
FS and the usual defense force is just trying to weasel out of this by branding it as spam and using telo as a scapegoat.
The actual issue is that we still have no response to the map selection issue after two whole years.
They did put in 2.5 bandaids into the mission select over the two years:
1 . New map guaranteed on the mission select for the first week or two of release after they were castigated for releasing a new map with no way to reliably play it.
1b. They finally added a new map in its own additional slot rather than taking up 1 of 3 per difficulty on the normal board and 1 of 5 on the Auric board. The Maelstrom thing is still a thing, but worse with the nature of the new map.
2 . Added the Auric Board for guaranteed High-Int+ conditions.
They’re all bandaids and it’s just going to worse the more conditions and missions they add.
And what’s the result of the bandaid? Whenever a new map drops quick play has nothing but that one for 1-2 weeks, making people get tired of it right away.
Yeah, satiation is a real thing, which would have been significantly reduced if it were new map + 19 alternatives as opposed to what we have now of new map + 3-8 alternatives on a timer.
tbh i don’t get it why there’s still not possible to select the map you want to play and the modifiers. is it technical issues? don’t they have the resources at the time to fix this? i mean, it seems something so mundane and completely normal for any game.
While I personally feel that it’s more of a QoL feature, the recent furor has made me decide to add it under the individual issues end of things. It’s not systematic enough to be a gigantic problem (unlike the thorniness of stacked RNG that was old itemization, or the pile that’s the cosmetics store, or the comms issues they used to have) but it is something that people dislike enough to consistently complain about for a long time and, as we’ve seen, even the playtesters are sick of it.
In aid of that, I’d appreciate if y’all could dig up any old threads about the problem.
There were always threads about it being awful. It’s just that people gave up after some time.
A lot of the people from those threads are no longer active so it’s safe to say that mission selection has contributed to their inactivity or dropping of the game.
People clearly want mission selection. The solution is to add mission selection.
It’s not ‘we have constructed a gigantic RNG palace for every single aspect of itemization’ levels where there’s multiple systems all collaborating resulting in a Gordian Knot of terrible game design that needs to be burned down and started over. It’s a single, simple, one-and-done feature where the existing system can be left intact.
I guess I dislike how downplayed your wording sounds. It is a systematic enough problem that caused a lot of people, including most of my groups to quit. As seen/inferred by the old threads with people no loner active here.
Really this is a sub-grudge of a greater grudge with the cosmetics/player character design in DT in general. I find that almost everything looks more goofy than not when it comes to everything from hairstyles, to faces, to pants, to boots, to armor plate configurations, to the tone and style, to proportions, to the lack of broader cross compatibility of different pieces. And let’s not forget the prices. Good grief, the prices. Or the lack of commissary options and updates. It’s just flat out bad across the board.
While SM2 isn’t really analogous for the specific customization (they have exactly one body to treat as a paper doll and the armor makes most of the jank of DT’s selection impossible) it really should be taken as a model.
If the Crayon Eaters Chapter can be a thing without GW complaining we should get more options for customization. Especially because so much of the earnable cosmetics selection is just ‘same outfit but different color/slightly different dangly accessories’.
btw, how does one get curios today? if you want a 21 health / 17 toughness / 3 stamina curio, is camping the shop or melk still the only way to get one? you can put whatever perks you want on them now, sure, but get the base curio where?
this just came to my mind because i have a ton of them already and never cared about it…
we should be able to empower a 2 stam > 3 stam or 16 tough > 17 tough, because the lower rated ones are basically worthless when you have the higher rated one.
indeed, i used to complete my melk contracts on all my characters when i had time, and even created a second zealot to farm more, but now one can craft whatever one wants with the correct base stats. which is ok for me as i can play what i like and not whoever needs his contract completed.
Adding this conversation to the Book in addition to the usual every-3-days complaint about cosmetics (this time just saying Fatshark should rotate weekly if it’s gonna be garbage).
