Why the current Veteran skill tree is bad

So, as many of you have I’m sure, I now have a bit of experience with our classes. However for the purposes of this discussion, I’ll focus entirely on the Veteran, since its my bread & butter. The issue I have, as I’ve alluded to before, is the cost of adjusting lanes in the tree. For the life of me, I just don’t know why it was done like this. Just look at the middle path. Thunder Hammer:

The Hammer does not feel right

One weapon could be sligtly better than another and that shouldn’t be that big of a problem (Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun), even in the same “family” of the weapon, the real problem is when a weapon in specific is far beyond being slightly better from the rest of options, for example knife, CA with BM, columnus mk5, plasma gun.

Is the bolt pistol just misunderstood?

Ive noticed the bolt pistol does one thing really well: Stagger pockets of humanoids. Even ragers. If youre changing back and forth between melee and ranged, this can be great for closing ground especially sprinting and shooting. For a damage weapon, i would pick other things. But for aquick stun by shooying at feet, its pretty effective at interrupting shooters of all kinds, maulers and ragers. Haven’t yet tested it on nurgle blessing units.
