To counter this they could offer lots of variations on the models/meshes. Like how they do anyway tbh (ie offer a helmet with visor, or helmet with no visor, or helmet with smashed visor, or helmet with half visor, etc). It would still be predatory AF but if you got to recolour to your heart’s content then I think it would soften the blow.

Would be a win/win for them as they would push retention and likely get more sales due to the modifiable and expansive nature of the colour shop.

This could either be explained away as the rejects buying secondhand gear and simply customising it to their own end (which is the exact narrative they use in DT unless I’m mistaken). It’s not like you’re an actual cadian guard, but rather someone who’s “sourced" some cadian gear.

Definitely ways to side step those issues.

Over a half of a year now. It’s been broken about the same time Arbites came out just about. They’ve never done anything yet to address this, which doesn’t shock me too much. It’s just that it’s a pretty big issue because most people play in Pub’s. I’m just tired of bringing it up a million times.

Yes and it’s because players can no longer be filled when the mission is off the grid.

I know this because there were changes with the mission timers and impacted manymoretry.

Yet FS is not even aware of the issue. Ignorance meets incompetence.

I’m not going to dig through histories to find it, but, IIRC on the order of events, we all identified serious backfill issues at space cop release, as well as the complete breaking of Auric difficulty and campaign quickplay, which is when we got Julia’s attention. I remember them acknowledging and “fixing” a backfill problem around the time our auric and campaign quickplay filters were complete.

I haven’t played since ~Nov at this point, but I was under the impression it was fixed based on my sessions before I stopped. Unless they reintroduced it in a patch since my hiatus, I thought it was basically good.

I assume region isn’t a factor for some of you still having these issues.

Did anyone take Julia up on this?

I see brad wasn’t interested due to frustration, understandably.
But, if my recollection is correct, they might not have it tracked internally due to thinking it’s fixed.
And, as dumb as it may be, you should submit an earnest bug report if you want to try and work the system.

I am interested; I even responded back within that same thread… I told her that reporting it is just pointless when there’s been like countless people who’ve reported this issue besides me. So, what’s the point of one more report when they just ignore it, right? I’m sure she’s already acknowledged this & knows. I just find it wild that they seem prioritized on fixing cosmetic clippings rather than correcting game breaking bugs. Just not even a couple days ago, I was playing a Maelstrom with pub’s. I don’t normally play pub games, but I even noticed this happening. Two guys left the match from rage quitting & more than half the duration of the game during Dark Communion, nobody joined the entire time, so we both did a true duo for the most part. Something is still wrong here, no doubt. You would think that this should be a priority on their list. Before they broke backfill it was near perfect where people who left another would take their place within a minute or so, it was fast. Now it’s like totally random, sometimes it works & sometimes you’re fk’ed basically. I have no clue if being in North American is a factor at all, but reguardless of that this should take priority over other fixes in my mind at least. It’s like one of those no-brainer tasks that needs to be done, it’s just non-negotiable. I just think it’s funny putting in a report, like what am I reporting exactly? People not showing up after somebody leaves? Do they need a video of it happening? lol It’s ridiculous…

In service management theory, the more unique reports they get for an issue, it should push the issue up in priority. So even if an issue has already been reported by someone else, it doesn’t hurt to report it yourself.

They’ve known about this for over a half of a year, it’s not unique/interesting or even new for that matter. That’s literally a sht load of reports stacking up complaining about this one specific issue. Besides, I’ve already talked to one of the Community Managers, so it’s fine. I mean, it’s not fine… because they ignore it reguardless, but sure… my report is going to make the solitary difference in the end… :roll_eyes:

But I’m currently not playing Darktide and don’t want to invest in it at this time. Just keeping an eye on any news which may make me jump back in.

What is “the Backfill issue”? Never heard of it, or maybe I did, but I never had a clear name for it. What does it do to the game, and how does it affect players?

Someone drops out or DCs from your mission. A player in the QP queue backfills into their vacant slot. Or doesn’t, as the case may be.

So is that the reason why when someone leaves halfway through the mission, the team is just stuck with a bot until the end?

Well this sucks.

Has FatShark at least fixed the issue with synchronization? The one where you hit an enemy with melee or ranged, but they don’t take any damage. It also applies to moments where you dodged a Disabler enemy’s attack and yet still got caught.

So was this fixed, or did FatShark still fail to address and patch this up too?

They didn’t. It still happens often enough, especially with weapons like Hellbore or Thunder Hammer which have low attack rate so you notice those crucial attacks missing more often than you do with quick firing/slashing weapons.

But I guess FatShark treats fixing bugs like adding new content (Solo Mode) - if the group with the wallets (the Whales) will not stop paying, they won’t bother themselves with adding or fixing stuff the playerbase want.

Yeah, pretty much what @Gideon404 said to sum that up perfectly.

I’d like to expand a bit on it, though. So, they broke Backfill for QP sometime ago with one of the updates. We were told that they’ve fixed the issues, but there’s still a lot of lingering problems with it. Now, it doesn’t happen all the time where people don’t replace vacant spots, it’s almost as if they half fixed the problem, Classic FS. Most people probably do play in Pub’s & I think fixing this to completion is important for those people, which is probably like 90-95% of players, I’m willing to bet that are in Pub’s.

Some people actually disagree with backfilling because it puts the player in random games with low health or half the people are dead with a whole bunch of sht on you, which I can understand that. My argument for it is that what do you expect from QP? A red carpet roll out to a fresh game? That’s not really the point of the mechanic of it. I feel that if you’re queuing into a specific game then it should be a fresh game straight off the bat, give us that option at the very least. As for QP, people have to know what to expect from it if they want to get into a fast game, right. All-in-all, it’s most likely another problem that won’t get fixed for another half a year or more, I bet.

The more unique reports we have in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide > Bugs the better, to help push it along. If you don’t want to, that’s cool too, it’s still on our radar :+1:

It’s funny you mention this - I have been experiencing this MORE THAN EVER in the past few months. I actually upgraded my internet last year and I have triple the speed I had before yet I am experiencing so many hit registration issues its insane. Revolver is the worst with this - I have literally head shot enemies with 2 shots in a row before and the shot completely disappears, does no damage yet I can see the blood fly out from his face and my ammo is gone - yet no damage.

This happens EVERY SINGLE GAME now. It used to be where it happened every few games but now it is consistently every single game. It’s actually baffling how the game is being downgraded over time
