Well, sure, it’s disappointing, but mostly because it’s uninspired ; no matter how much I complain or make fun of it, I’m certainly not gonna balk at spending an additional 11€ on a game I have sunk 1000 hours into.
If given a choice between a bowl of unflavored gruel, and starving, I don’t think most people who really like the ‘Tide formula are gonna choose the latter.
It’s a weird state where I do want to support Fatshark a bit, but between the travesty of a cash shop and the underwhelming, restrictive decisions they make, I find it hard to want to open my wallet. That’s probably where a lot of the people with hundreds or thousands of hours but complaining about the pricing/value etc. are coming from.
Too bad it’s so binary. I want to reward them for the good they do but I don’t want to incentivise the bad they do either.
I honestly believe that this thread and attitude is actually harmful to darktide. It’s not constructive criticism, it’s clinging to changed design decisions or dramas for unhealthy long periods of time.
Fatshark could choose to explain itself or change things to match what they said would be on release at any point. I’ve taken things off for bug fixes and changes that meet the barest minimum standard of what they sold us on. I’ve even removed stuff when they acknowledge they made a mistake in the initial promise via miscommunication between the devs and the CMs.
If a CM came in and said ‘we changed from the promised weapon customization because we felt balance was too granular and the marks system was easier to work around’, I would remove the weapons customization grudge, for example. I would also remove it if they said ‘our comms guy got confused about the marks system and said stuff that wasn’t true’, or if they actually put in the work and released actual weapons customization.
But they refuse to openly state their reasons, so it remains there.
Could we at least wait the 3 days until it goes live and the community at large can get their hands on it?
We’ll have a lot more widely available and verifiable evidence from a much larger testing space than just theorycrafting and playtester pre-release gameplay then?
The people who said launch Arbites would be incredibly broken based solely off the tree were generally correct, so no. I feel confident in saying this class is going to be completely unhinged knife zealot ^ 2 bs.
If we’re just talking trees, then it’s exactly this.
People rightly assumed that about arbites from their tree alone because of passives like Suppression Protocols, Imposing Force, Canine Morale, Hold the Line and True Grit, among a few other things, all of that, on top of having the dog there to save you from Dogs and Mutants. Hive scum seemingly has absolutely nothing of the sort.
Yeah, Knife Zealot but without Until Death & Holy Revenant, Good Balance, Benediction, Enduring Faith, even others like Bleed for the Emperor, Shield of Contempt etc., etc., etc.
It’s due to the way you’ve worded it as an entry too.
“People immediately noticed how OP the class was, and (correctly) accused it of being unbalanced pay-to-win.”
We don’t know that. We won’t properly know how true that is until the 2nd at earliest.
That, plus the fact the two threads you’ve used as evidence for it contain a number of people also disagreeing with the OPs there for a lot of reasons, including the ones we’ve discussed here.
It’s just a bit of a dodgey entry to be making before the class is even out.
If all the doomposting about it turns out to be true? Then yeah, of course it deserves to be there. But as for right now?
Yeah, kinda with Symbo on this one, every content creator so far has said the class is hyper squishy. If the average player is gonna get smacked once and go down then it probably won’t be OP.
Arbites could hold its ground and put out insane DPS, but DPS won’t mean much when the average player doesn’t know how to kite.
Fair enough, I’ll make the edits to be less inflammatory. I’m still of the opinion that a class whose tankiness comes from knowing when to hit the right button will prove braindead easy to abuse, but we’ll see.
Too early to tell. But personally I would rather consistent toughness regain from melee attacks without use of stim cooldown.
I mean Arbites has a node where you can spam block thin air to get half toughness back or holding sprint to move/go into attack at same time to rinse stamina, which automatically gives back toughness for not doing much.
Recover toughness for just running away even. Yea it’s not instant, but it supplements toughness regain from melee attacks, dog giving toughness regain, block, stagger, hit etc
Also Hive toughness stims is “Toughness Regeneration” not actual instant toughness replenishment to the level an Arbite/Ogryn can just horizonal sweep moveset a horde and back to 100% in less than a sec.
Toughness Regeneration works from coherency best or temporary engagement withdrawal and I don’t think this class is a coherency class if it meant to be running around like Zealot. Also even a normal Dreg Stalker just taps you it temporarily pauses this toughness regeneration and you’re taking soft ranged fire all the time.
I stopped using toughness regeneration node/curios long ago. So please correct me if I am wrong on this!
Here’s a new grudge to go with the new update. With the QoL change for keystones/blitz changes, all still trees for our characters have been reset, all without any other changes to the skill trees that would have otherwise made the reset understandable and all without a single word of warning from Fatshark to keep tabs/records of our own builds in prep.
Seems inconsiderate if you ask me, especially for those of us that use more than one character and more than one build per character. Having to remake 3 builds for the other 5 character is the last ****ing thing anyone would want to do when an update drops.
It’s a long running issue that appears sporadically between the quarterly patches most often.
Could be a section for “stuff that’s annoying and pops up from time to time but isn’t as impactful as the far bigger issues (balance, terrible systems, lack of communication) that go in the proper book” etc.
Would something like that work here for this?
It’s definitely annoying and relatively common enough to bring up and write down
