The Book of Grudges: Because Fatshark Won't Listen

Isn’t that basically the pattern at this point? First half of the year generally being minimal stuff with less and less info, then vacation, then a complete and total drought barring leaks forcing their hand until ~October, then actually semi-adequate update speed and amount, then back to nothing after winter vacation?

feast or famine!

Or in DT’s case, microwave meal or famine lol

The goal for any media incorporation who is trying to capitalize on people’s attention to make a profit whether that be a gaming company like this or a YouTube channel like me is to take people’s short-term attention and give them something that is interesting enough to them that they will become engaged to for the medium to long term.

@Mister_E Not Fatshark apparently, according to Magnusson, but thank you for saying it.

Honestly I’d say 50 hours is most people’s money’s worth of playtime. A lot of gamers are really casual and uninterested in dedicating hundreds of hours into a single game they’ve already seen all of, so it makes sense to mostly design around that - that’s your lowest common denominator.

It ain’t exactly what we want to hear, but such is the industry.

Sure, for your average game.
But, if profit is driven by MTX cosmetics, like so much of this god-emperor forsaken hobby these days, sustained engagement is the goal. That’s how you whittle down buyer will power and sell the new slop.

But FS apparently doesn’t know this or want to incentivize people to engage more with their own profit model.

Whatever floats their boat I guess.

I got a friend of mine into DT for a brief moment before Deltarune stole it back and it bought a Krieger hat for Veteran despite my protestations that you should never buy MTX in a game you’ve already paid money for.

Yeah any of my friends I got into dt leveled one class and left.

The game does an awful job of engaging the average person. There’s the initial oh hey this is really cool immediately to oh huh that’s it.

seems weird and exaggerated. whatever, i’m away on vacation till october so i won’t have to deal with broken mods and hotfix needed, let’s hope for the best :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Yes, this one REALLY angers me. At this point I’d rather Mortis Trials just didn’t have Bots at all.

Depending on specifics re: vet changes, enemy health buffs/spawn changes, arbites and ogryn nerfs, etc, I may be able to close out a sizeable chunk of the Balance section. The tree changes are very extensive and render several Grudges outdated.

I’ve never been happier to eat crow if this works out.

Happy to report that a lot of good changes seem to be present, at least judging from the patch notes. Probably a swarm of new bugs as is FS standard, but the Commissary getting a few mothballs picked off and the tree reworks promise a good future.

The enemy health buffs concern me and speak ill of power creep, though I hope the spawns are reduced to make up for it.

One little note in the patch I really appreciate is the 1 second invulnerability and a few seconds of 50%DR when revived/assisted. No more being instadeathed by crushers on revival.

They reduced Crusher spawns, didn’t see any others mentioned. They are pretty beefy now!

Yup the crusher spawns remind me of spawns before Auric existed of T5 regular.

It is more like 3-4 patrol rather than long congo line.

Still the melee classes scale much easier to meet the challenge vs ranged. But in some respects it is easier because it is more smaller focused groups rather than spread around surrounding you.

I couldn’t see in patch notes about this. But was it always like this with Daemonhost where it will attack 2nd player or a new thing…Saw 2 players get taken out by Daemonhost one after the other.

Pros: New commissary weapon skins.

Cons: They all change the model of the weapon rather than only changing the texture/pattern.

Perhaps this is a bit unfairly fast to ask for inclusion, but, I don’t expect a response will come:

Concrete example of WHY people are upset at the communication handling and were upset we had to wait for patch notes like second class players behind the slow content creator trickle and horrible video/streaming format for this type of info release.

Outright misinformation propagation cannot be spun positively.

I’ll be happy to be shown that I missed something.
