Just “Rejects and Acolytes”
or
"Members of the Warband!
… and Rejects."
would be enough for me.
I’ve reached 30th level on all 4 operatives and if people with true level mod are to be believed level 1000 a bit ago on Veteran.

Wow, never thought I would see that referenced anywhere.
On the topic of rejects though, I don’t really care about how people perceive it out of context of the game. However, it has continually muddied their own storyline.
Supposedly by level 30 we become acolytes and are officially a part of the warband per Rannick’s own words. Even nameless npc chatter towards us as we run by them on the Mourningstar somewhat reflects this. But we are still called rejects in official comms…?
I’ve also seen plenty of people use this in their arguments as to why we shouldn’t or won’t ever have access to XYZ weapon or whatever because “wE’Re rEJecCts”.
Yeah, we were, past tense. You can’t have an evolving narrative/live service if you don’t keep it consistent. Either we are now acolytes or we aren’t, but you gotta pick one.
Any chance of a roadmap when you guys are back? Would love to see whats next.
Enjoy the summer sun!
They just need to try it, I’m sure!
Along with what Asuka asked for, an explanation of why solo w/ bots is such a taboo topic that no communication on it is happening. Asuka mentioned in another comment that Darktide feels like a step back in systems from Vermintide 2, and no solo play is one of those systems.
The crafting and itemization is worse, the mission select (or lack thereof) is worse, the lack of bot customization is worse, the cosmetic store is worse, the campaign style is worse (player level based instead of mission based), and lack of solo play is worse.
Vermintide 2 released in a worse state than Vermintide 1 ended in, and Darktide seems to be even a further step back than Vermintide 2’s release.
Any explanation on why these systems were made worse than they were in Vermintide 2 would be appreciated. Even if it’s a lame answer like “we wanted to try something new.” I just can’t understand why you’d try to fix what isn’t broken and people are happy with. Most everyone who came from previous Tide games would have been perfectly happy with VT2 in a coat of 40K paint.
while darktide was my first encounter with warhammer 40k (in a way that really sparked my interest) imagine my “shock” when i found out it wasn´t an american thing but had its origin in the uk.
suddenly i had a flashback of some dude (nice fellow by the way, but quite “remarkable” facial features) i met while on vacation and knew where i´ve seen my ogryns face before
fun thing was, everything else fit to a t as well. despite being a geezer he must have been build like a brick shthouse in his younger years and a few beers in kindly refused the protection googles while having a shooting contest with “no thank you, i got two”, meaning even if a piece of debris knocked an eye out he still had one left
had a good laugh afterwards, getting into conversation over me winning the contest(was the only sober one).
but ever since learning about warhammers origin i can´t help but chuckle i shared my resort with a brute
I get your point, but every single player starts as a reject. Literally, every single one, but not every player is lv 30 and part of the warband.
So when you have the common ground of “everyone started as a reject” or the less common ground of “some people are part of the warband”, the former works best.
As an example, all people who have a university degree are “graduates” but only some of those graduates have a doctorate. So would you call everyone who has graduated from a university “Doctor” just because some people have received their doctorate? Or would you call them all “Graduates”?
My point stands, you can’t have an evolving narrative and continue to use the same term that was used at the start of the narrative if it no longer makes sense.
Also a better analogy here would be more along the lines of student than a graduate. You prove yourself with your grades and studies in the same way you prove yourself via your deeds/devotion to the warband. Inquisitors in 40k certainly don’t mind scrubbing your record if it suits them, you need not remain a reject/prisoner in the same way you aren’t referred to as a student once you graduate.
As far as the player is concerned we aren’t rejects anymore. They can come up with something else like “Servants of the Emperor/Inquisitor” or whatever. It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as it makes sense in an evolving, storytelling way.
The mistake was either promoting us to acolyte at 30 or calling us rejects to begin with. Wrote themselves into a corner either way.
i thought the same thing, but french are also potty mouths
Hate to say it, but given Fatsharks history with the… flexibily of truth, I’m thinking we’d be better off taking things one step at a time.
The problem with the student analogy, is as you said, you’re no longer a student. You may have joined the warband but you still come from the position of “reject”. So while you are no longer a reject by title having been accepted by the warband at lv 30, every player who is new to the game (or like me and stopped playing because of no solo mode) and never hit 30 are still rejects. You were also a reject. So why would I, or any new player, be called a member of the warband just because you (and others) have been accepted?
A commoner who marries into royalty is still a commoner. Even if they have a new title. A reject who’s accepted by the warband is still a reject.
Whether or not a commoner is royalty based upon marriage is decided entirely by the laws of the land, it’s subjective. Just like their choice of title here in Darktide.
You seem tied to the idea of reject, why? They can call it literally whatever they want. The point stands, it’s inconsistent, doesn’t cover the full breadth of players, and has no reason to stay the way it is.
Continuing your own earlier analogy, you wouldn’t call a graduate a student, why should I still be a reject?
Being a reject isn’t like being a U.S. Marine, you don’t have to be referred to as such in perpetuity. And certainly the inquisition wouldn’t want to keep calling its acolytes rejects or former rejects.
Imagine how that sounds if they ever need to use any former reject (not necessarily us or ones from the Atoma campaign) for any joint ops with other branches of the Imperium. “We’re sending a team of rejects to your location to coordinate on this assignment”
That is some bad optics on the Inquisitions part and more information about the origins of their agents than they would likely ever divulge. They would just say agents or operatives or something.
Again, it doesn’t matter what they change it to, but rejects is limited in scope and usage and makes no sense if we are expected to rise through the ranks.
don’t get me wrong, treat yourself to a nice vacation but did you have to take the servers with you ?
havent had a single match today without issues for the whole team, not a single player.
2 highlights: floating enemies while attack patterns slowed to a crawl,
only to be topped by the very next round where the server couldn’t decide whether the beast of nurgle would eat or the dog horde pounce me.
hilarious as it was being literally immortal albeit stuck at 1% health in a corner,
please consider that while you take vacations FROM darktide, i take vacations FOR darktide.
you don’t see me soiling the pool with nurgle corruption, so pretty please keep the servers clean as well
I’ve missed that… how the hell did I miss that?!
And I had perfect meme for it…
“They were too late . Too late was worse than never.” - J.R.R. Tolkien".
+1 for Jenette Goldstein/Vasquez (the progenitor of the meme).
Now present yourself to the Munitorum. Since you’re so late, you’ve been assigned to categorize all of Brunt’s weapons for the big, new crafting system change-over!
I wonder if Kulthian Foreign Legion is still recruting…
"Sarge’s Rules About What You Can and Can’t Bring on a “Stealth” Mission With Inquisitor Asshat
(…)
No detailed plans to kill the Inquisitor, desert, and enlist in the Kulthian Foreign Legion
Because the Emperor hates you, that’s why"
AGP, The “Stealth” Mission: “Observation”
treated myself to the special edition 4k last time it was on amazon sale.
when vhs was a thing i rented alien 2 at least once a month, great movie.
I wish there were more Aliens/Terminator/Rambo/almost any 80slash90 movies inspired memes in 40k fandom…
Look what I have to work with:
Heads up, we got a dev blog coming for ya next week Forums heard it first. Not on itemization yet, but we’re working on that too, lots of replies to sort and get right.
Look forward to it! Thanks for the update
