Bit Disappointing, I think not fixing the RNG or at least removing the locks before another holiday is a mistake, Players will drop back to 4k or below.
It is surprising, but par for the course in modern gaming, It seems Fatshark like many others constantly makes the most selfish decisions possible and wonders why their games are not doing as well as they should, and studios are being closed regularly.
Have a good vacation, and please come back with new ideas for Darktide! Still hoping for a minigun for ogyrn, but will understand if you go with a new mission first, preferably in the Carnival. Also, has Fatshark considered adding an experimental branch for the game so you can players can sign up to be test dummies for possible new features, such as new weapons and enemies?
Compared to some other game companies out there, they are much better. Remember when ARK first dropped full of holes? When the players complained, the company th
at made it basically responded with “screw you”.
Hey that’d be neat!
No joke, if you guys feel like working with steams built-in beta branch systems, and then used the forums here to gather feedback, that would be such a good thing! I promise you, the kind of feedback you’d get would be so much more accurate and applicable!
Would also show a willingness to, as you impled in a previous devblog, “expand the playtesters”.
I, and many others, would gladly burn our free time to help you guys get this game where it should be! (because I really do love this game )
This would be a good, good, good thing. It’d give us a voice over updates instead of some discord exclusivers that we don’t even know having an influence over the game’s future.
its not about the lore or in game implications, even if that is the reason they call us that.
it has to do with the way the release was handled,
releasing the game in an abysmal state and then pretty much immediately leaving for Christmas holidays left people with the feeling of being rejected as a (loyal) customer
And instead of owning up to the awful state, they continued the charade of calling people rejects as if nothing happened, leaving a sour after-taste every time, proving the unwillingness to address these problems.
The name and in lore reasons are fine, it’s just that they applied to the real-world in a tone-deaf manner.
it’s obvious that it’s a marketing/branding choice, but they should have noticed the grievances the community had and respond in a manner that didn’t twist the knife in, but i assume they aren’t flexible enough, or lack the authority figures that would make such a judgment in a moment’s notice.
The only thing that miffed me is that we started out as Rejects, were Acolytes before the game even came out in some old beta posts and then we were Rejects again. Around the time the game was being rejected by players wholesale until the cosmetics store stopped updating over the state of the game. Were we rejects for actually playing that build? Looking back, sort of.
If it was a progression thing it went backwards lol
Maaan. This has nothing to do with being sensitive. This is about customer relations:
–>Release game with multiple ‘coming soon’ signposts on features
Get called a reject in the update
–>Have a cashshop that gets more development than the actual game
Get called a reject in the next update
–>Aquilas controversy
Get called a reject in the next update
—>Leave a buggy modifier for months on end
Get called a reject in the next update
–>Go silent for months on end whilst abandoning the game
Get called a reject in the next update
I’m seeing a bunch of pain points irrelevant to brand marketing… eg sensitivity about being called a “Reject”…
Imagine if the Warframe community acted like this and got their pants in a twist when Rebb said there were 26 million “registered losers” (a live slip in reference to the number of Warframe accounts registered nearly a decade ago) which quickly became a cheeky way to refer to the community other than just Tenno…
I’ve been playing that game since Closed Beta, the difference between Warframe and Darktide is that Reb earned a lot of street cred from how she interacts with the community through livestreams as well as her relations with us. There’s a reason why people made jokes about the whole loser thing.
Agreed; however the key overlap that they share is that they (as well as numerous other dev teams) choose to brand their interactions with the community by referring to them as what their characters are called… in this case, Rejects.
No different from Guardians, Helldivers or Tenno… choosing to interpret brand marketed communication as “tone-deaf” or offensive just because they’re BAD at interacting the community is a little silly.
You can not like it, that’s fine. I’m not saying Rejects is “good” marketing (it really isn’t), but interpreting it as anything but that is disingenuous.
yeah, mostly the tone-deaf nature, haven’t really followed HD2 but since its supposed to be a shining example in regard to communication (mostly)
I wonder if they always called the playerbase divers or if they dropped the roleplay for serious topics like the sony debacle
The update is great to see, and I can say that having it put out for us is really, genuinely appreciated. I’m delighted to see some of my thoughts and feelings for what was “missing” in communication and this community being borne out by the positivity of many regulars’ responses here. I appreciate that you’re putting in the effort to integrate and include us here in the game and the ongoing development plans and I hope that you’ll be able to continue to do that.
@FatsharkStrawHat - tl;dr: Good stuff, keep it up fellow she/her.
this devblog is gonna be SO big bros
Sure, and at some point you learn to drop this cringe corpo crap and actually start treating the fan base that you’ve burned with some modicum of respect by not refering to them as ‘rejects’.
Out of things that matter being called “Devoted Rejects” is very, very much at the bottom of the list.
Tbh I’m quite fine with Rejects, it’s fitting with the narrative
so im guessing this means yall arent going to remove the locks to tide us over for 2… 3 months?
Talk is cheap, but in all of my time here this is the first time i’ve heard them saying the right thing
