Suggestion: re-label damnation hi intensity shock troop gauntlet to “tier 6: pandemonium”, so this difficulty is reliably available. Many players, including me, find this particular difficulty/modifier to be by far the most fun thing in this game, and wish it was available all the time.

I think almost all of the many requests that you’re getting to let players pick maps/modifiers are specifically about wanting access to damnation hi intensity shock troop gauntlet. While I think you should, in general, let players pick maps and modifiers, it seems that this is contrary to FS’s design intent. I think you can satisfy the essence of these requests, without deviating from your design intent, simply by making this particular difficulty/modifier combination reliably available. Within the constraints of your current mission board, I suspect the easiest way to do this is to simply relabel this combination “tier 6”, and make a single tier 6 map always available on the board.

This is certainly an adequate solution. Though i’d like to see hi-int melee elite gauntlet too. Which could also be a t6. This is kinda why i proposed in a related thread that intensity should be broken off into its own category parallel to difficulty and non-randomozed.

In any case i think youre close to right. I love more specials. I love more monstrosities. Just throw the kitchen sink at me.

I agree that there are many other flavors of hi intensity that could be compelling gameplay. But the most pressing issue imo is that they’ve stumbled onto a really magical combination of factors with their damnation/hi-intensity shock troop gauntlet missions, which are so much more interesting and fun than anything else in this game. They need to recognize that their experimentation with weird conditions succeeded, they struck gold, and make this actually accessible.

I would honestly be very disappointed if we got a difficulty 6 and it’s just special spam. There’s absolutely a place for that but it shouldn’t define core difficulties. A true difficulty 6 needs a much more well rounded approach to creating difficulty.

Just make hiSTG permanently have a mission available for diff 4 & 5. I agree they should capitalise off creating a condition everyone likes.
