Steam Achievements : Will you add all Okri's challenges?

Ye, mine wanted to be a general speech too

It’s really hard for me to understand the opposite side of extending the Steam achievements. It’s not that @Froh suggests some totally abstruse heresy. It’s just about bringing something that’s already in the game to a more public level (and the degree of this publicity can be limited if needed).
Even if there are so called “Achievement Hunters” that could be discouraged from playing the game, which seems to me to be completely contradictory, since it’s all about earning rare achievements and not some crap that 90% of the players have because they unlocked it in 5 minutes, I’m completely in agreement with you @soul23. In the end it would be a recognition of those players who have invested time and effort to unlock the achievements, nothing more, if this makes sense with regard to the developer time or not is questionable (this is only a personal preference for each “feature” anyways).

Exactly… if from one side people could avoid the game because hard achievements (I doubt it, but let’s put it that way), from the other side people could be attracted by these trophies! Both new fellows who are searching hard achievements… and old veterans who would have a new reason to complete that missing challenge!

While I haven’t been playing a lot of other games since VT2, I’ve felt lack of achievements as a huge letdown and I’ve never really liked browsing through the challenges. L4D2 achievements have always been a great example of how they work nicely.

Having said that, there is one category of achievements/challenges that I dislike, and those are the ones that are one-off, i.e. if you don’t get them within a particular time frame, you can never get them.

P.S. I’ve never been an obsessive achievement hunter.

I agree that the people avoiding the game for fear of not being able to complete it would be few - and it’s now a moot point anyway, I doubt converting challenges to achievements now would have any impact - but it is a very strong motivation to casual players who might decide to invest a little bit more time in the game. And reward for every player.

P.S. Regarding some of the comments… Both achievements and challenges are addiction tools to encourage replay.

Sure, provided they are retroactive. Boy, some of the challenges I did I never want to do again.

Even if they don’t convert challenges into achievements, it would be nice to have some new achievements to do.

Exactly, it would be an investment!

1000000000% agree.

Of course, steam achievements should mirror Okri’s book and not ask again to complete them. (which means all the challenges already unlocked will then be unlocked at the moment you start the game once they are added)
