Statement on Region Restrictions

I wonder about that as well, especially because it was already rated USK 18+ in 2022 like this.

And I wonder how tossing around corpses is somehow worse than tossing around (un)living people.:question:It’s not even likely that followers of Nurgle would be easily offended by it while they storming at you to kill you and crying death threats.

nah its them ckicken legged pencil pushing cowards hiding behind their desks having some warped mindfkk about games making people violent.

same thing with wanting to keep people unarmed.

that those robbing people in broad daylight dont give a :poop: about firearm restrictions and never played a game in their life given their 2 brain cells not being good for anything more than raw stoneage impulses doesnt get them easy votes and convinient scapegoat.

crime prevention costs money and personel, banning the boogieman costs nothing and looks “pro-active” to the overaged crowd thats the population nowadays.

You might be a little off-topic with that here, and as an European who feels perfectly safe without countless wannabe Judge Dredds around me I disagree with you on it anyway.

Hello Fatshark, Hello @FatsharkStrawHat !

Back to topic, Fatshark, you’re wrong! The game already has a rating in Germany and there is no change in any laws, that would make this change necessary! Anyone who claims something like this is either dumb or lying!

So, please let me as an adult player, play like I want and don’t censor me with no reason (other than made up ones) at all. Thank you!

just gave you a hint on who’s offended if anything. german laws are a joke in that regard, but yeah lets leave it to that

So no new Statement? Is this going to be a Singleplayer 2: Electric Boogaloo thing and we just get ghosted?

« The game makes only fun with postmortal dismemberment.

Hmmm sorry but…

Looking around it appears some other games have been hit by this recently as well, Modern Warfare III (well, Modern Warfare III “2”, not the Modern Warfare III from 2011, **** Activision and their title recycling) had similar recent changes.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ModernWarfareIII/comments/1ecnvf2/no_deatheffects_in_germany_anymore/

Mein Deutsch ist jezt nicht so gut, but it looks like the same situation.

there is no “but” when it comes to censorship you’ve been fighting for 30+ years.

not one inch !

the game was made with physics in mind, maiming and mutilating corpes of your enemies adds to the immersiveness of the gritty combat the game so beautifully portraits.

atmosphere only works as long as its conclusive and believable inside its own rules and universe.

and the beauty of 40k is being that gigantic industrial meat grinder that repurposes you to the point of servitor-ship as long as enough bits and limbs remain useable.

first time i found out about daemonculaba was a real quake 2 ish flashback of the best kind. :+1:

whats whacking some corpses on the floor in comparison?

for example i wouldnt play one minute of the german dead island 2 version.

the fun is the gore and the gore is the fun.
theres no “depth” or story incentive to get going beyond a certain point.

but keep chopping the zombies apart and stomping them until their blank bones, that never gets old :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

granted 40k lore is vast and entertaining and darktide is a good game regardless.

but the whole package, the “feel good” zone is when there’s no holding back on the visual grittiness thats ever present in this universe.

Its about the new guidelines about lootboxes and such. But theres no revision about the whole violence topic. So its likely just Scapegoating the country when its the Store Owners that are doing the pressure. At least with a tinfoil hat on as long as theres no nonbullshit answer

but what?
don’t you see that of all people, only germans are treated again like they’re too dumb for gaming, and the austrians stuck in the same boat for obscure reasons.
i wouldn’t care a bit about this youth protection legalese if it didn’t hobble grown people just trying to enjoy a game.

@FatsharkStrawHat Could you be so kind and get answers to these Questions: What are you trying to achieve here? Are you even reading what Valve demands? First of all, no restrictions needed, as the game is already rated in its completly uncensored version of its Release. Second thing is, the “new regulations” just demand, that the game gets delisted if its not rated. Darktide got a rating, so its clear on that regard, nothing else. Third: It is only for new sales. Old Customers, like myself, are totally unaffected of this pseudo regulation. So why do you take things away from me I have paid for in 2022? That kind of behaviour is not funny anymore.

Watch them not reverting ANY of the changes, the update today for sure didn’t

Also, consider posting this on the reddit and steam forums

Another Austrian here. After some research, I found this page:

So it seems that this is partially correct. Games in Salzburg need to display their USK rating, in Vienna they need to display PEGI ratings, and in other places there is no specific rating prescribed.

However I don‘t understand why having to display the rating the game received upon launch in Salzburg means it has to comply with changes are are making now. Simply keep displaying the USK18 rating you have previously received.

Edit: After further research, the actual text of the law makes no mention at all of „USK“ or its full name. RIS - Salzburger Jugendgesetz - Landesrecht konsolidiert Salzburg, Fassung vom 03.12.2024
It seems the claim on the first website is wrong.

There also are no changes to the rating policy. Its also not a thing to change a rating retroactivly. The whole claim of Fatshark is wrong.

Just so you know. USK is not a thing in Austria. We usually have the “Pegi” rating without any restrictions. The best example is the COD World at War Zombie mode which was only restricted in Germany.
I highly doubt the suits at Activation would have screwed this up.

Austria is literally in the crossfire here.
Besides the changes… make no sense?

This should at least be reverted for Austria…

Austria always had the Pegi Rating as many other places.
Or any rating that would work. USK is specifically a thing for Germany.
But sadly some companies do throw some countries together.

If you are a German usually uncut workarounds have been done via the Austrian version of the games. That said it makes no sense why I am affected in Austria. I am actually mad about that.

So I will complet the sentence sorry but this is absolutely not the way to resolve the problem when somebody say the only way to appreciate the game is to dismember stuff. I remember in 90’ we got command and conquer and the German version was with robot no two pixels red but green so the problem exist since over 30 years. you can only work on this issue with an official ask with lawyers and all the stuff. I’m very sorry because I understand totally your problem I m not ok about censoring a content especially when it was accepted before. But you will not resolve anything on this forum.

“voting” for sure wont change anything either cause them same old senile “sesselfurzer” make up just about every party there is to vote when it comes to gaming as a topic.

what is “necessary” though is to no remain quiet about something that was done without external pressure, when last 2 years were fine.

so, steam needs a “18” tag to display the game, now what?
it’s gotten its rating 2 years ago with dismemberment in place.
tag it “18” and call it a day. not that they recheck the rating anyways.

so yes, my discontent is with fatshark at this for censoring up front when for all we know nothing would happen to them leaving things as they were 2 years ago.

if i had musk like funds i’d create a gaming platform on a privat oil rig in international waters, supply the goriest of stuff around the globe for free and tell all them soft4ss governments to :fu: themselves :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’ve summed it up in this post how Salzburg uses usk. It is not referenced directly but the paragraphs in the German law, the Salzburger law is referencing is using usk…
