Statement on Region Restrictions

Seeing how I’ve worked in a games company in the past where the analysis wasn’t allowed to give the sales numbers to balancing, but balancing was responsible for the sales of items …
Yah, the larger it grows, the more often it happens.

Except for the German version, was had the most hilariously disabled censorship applied to it.
Honestly better than AVP, but just for the humor factor.
Personally, I don’t care for corpses at all. My PC is so weak by now they disappear within seconds anyways. :stuck_out_tongue:

no one buys the german version

i still got the original fallout 1 handbook as toilet reading… stinky treasure, but hey its “weathered” just like the real wasteland.

honestly, i kinda ignored the “humor” part and rather soaked in the beauty and brutality of the wasteland.

“iguana” bob my 4ss  you munchin on human remains.
masters vault level ? literal sentient meat festering on the walls.
you got dipped with another creature on “accident” in the vats? tough luck i hope you like several new limbs on a grotesque mutated body, oh and mens best friend? yeah he’s licking your face 24 hours cause he’s growing outta your fkkin shoulder

so many little details that make the world “whole” and me wanting to be there exploring every cupboard for a nuka or whatever rubbish there might be in.

complete opposite here  i dont spend money on “unecessary” stuff, got shirts that are older than my wife BUT my rig?

at the time darktide came out i instantly got me a new one.
biting my arse seeing frames drop after 15 ragdolls at a time when i should have opted for an i9

now with all the intel problems the next one gonna get the fattest amd and i gonna smash that setting to the max.

if there’d only be a mod to make corpses stay indefinitely as well my inner khorne would jump in joy.

So…what you are saying instead of blaming Sony for everything, I can also blame the German and Austrian governments. I can live with that.

been “living” with that :poop: since playing wolfenstein on my 486 back in the day.
pervert mixture of triumph and thrill of the hunt for every item on the “index” you collect.

besides, the real deal was “strafrechtlich unbedenklich” .

got a version of predator(1987) dvd carrying the laurels of uncut victory even the cretins of the bpjs couldnt touch

not that it matters now with the same movie, down to a second, is USK 16.
kinda takes the edge out of it somehow.

every damn wolfenstein game i played uncut on release and made that my finger to the damn stasi censorship.

on the school yard? VHS tapes with the weirdest stuff you could imagine, hey dude did you watch “maneater”…

so yeah, like trading stuff in the DDR the state doesnt want you to have you make it your duty to have it.

now for the other thing:

electing.

cant elect shtt around here that hasnt the same old fool puzzi “games as scapegoat” thing going.
there briefly was “piratenpartei” but them weirdos disappeared for having literally nothing to them.

i literally would vote for the devil himself if he’d do away with that fkked up censorship.
and while he’s at it, toss in open carry license and full auto to sweeten the deal, love me that p90…
top5 on my bucket list.

speaking of which, at some point i’ll pack my stuff and get a nice remote place somewhere in the texan outskirts.
nice fence and terminator 2 style goodie basement as well :sunglasses:

@FatsharkStrawHat I know you are only relaying other people statements so this is not on you. However could you please get a response to these counter arguements about those statements?

That would be highly appreciated!

this, as cowardly patronizing of adult media consumers this is, at least once a verdict is been made its not to be revoked.

never since picking up the fight against the bpjm in the early 90s has a game been “upgraded”

lot of games been stricken from the “index” and available for over the counter sale.
stuf like wolfenstein or 93 doom doesnt get any gore kicks out of anyone with those graphics.

their schtik was always “realistic violence messes brains up” these few pixels dont scare a 5 year old nowadays.

second, it either gets approved or “beschlagnahmt”

meaning sold to people at the described age legally or not at all.
and even then imports werent a hussle either (see my tripple half life us orders back in 98) im can order all i want.

i might not get it past customs but no ones giving me :poop: for ordering legal wise.

now those should all have been things of ancient past given mortal kombat etc gets waved through on normal “routine”

this 2 years late april fools joke is something else altogether.

they got their clearance in 2022, no german pencil pusher with a broom up his 4ss could do something against it.

Yeah, this is obvious PR speak and only happened because they released on a new platform and are now doubling down instead of giving us what we were promised: Better and more transparent communication.

…but what can you expect someone who doesn’t even tell the community managers before the shitstorm starts.

As always it’s a love-hate relationship with obesefish, please do better in the future I love your games and find comfort in the art you create but then you always have to screw it up someway :frowning:

@FatsharkStrawHat
You have a wrong statement from other people from the USK.
This game was rated including postmortal dismemberment the USK is fine with that feature.

Of God please remove the censorship completely and set it in the original version it’s meant to play WITH postmortal dismemberment. I never buy censored games. This is so ridiculous. The game makes only fun with postmortal dismemberment.

In Germany there are so many games WITH postmortal dismemberment, and Dark Tide will have no problems with this.

Sadly, I’m still awaiting comment as of now since it’s the weekend. Soon as I get a response I’ll make sure to update you all.

Darktide got rated and approved uncensored in 2022 with its release. There is no reason except being stupid to now censor it, you don’t even get a newer rating except fatshark did try to get a new lower rating than 18+,which would mean they are lying even more. Nevertheless I did not buy this game under these conditions, so currently it’s a breach of a contract and basically a case for the court as they took something away from me without my permission and without any law forcing them to.

Talking about regulations like it doesnt fully hinge on what the government of that particular country says.

yes, first age classification does depend on these clowns but once the tag is set it can’t be changed for the worse on a whim.

fallout 1 & 2 (the “proper” versions)had much more “options” at the time but they were denied a rating for example.
other titles were rated what would be AO for US standards and could be sold to adults legally.

but once AO was given they could not go back on it, much like you cant get sentenced for the same crime twice.

guess i’d compare it with the second amendment when all of a sudden the gun manufacturer would only produce weapons that fire blanks cause they want to sell these products in other countries that got a ban on live ammunition.

you got the right to purchase own and use, but the supplier says nu-uh we want money from the other sources as well… deal with it.

germany rated the game 2 years ago. nothing else is relevant to the state of the game.

the bureau in charge wouldnt have waited for 2 years to warn farshark, they get a boner right away playing savior of the innocent souls the second they get the chance.

personally i’m just pissed that after decades of fighting the censorship, right when i thought it a thing of the past and told younger generations the trouble we had to go through to purchase “splatterhouse” etc, in my most beloved game of the last 10 years, i’m back to the stoneage again…

Hi @FatsharkStrawHat,

Please relay my message to the Darktide Team:

I wanted to share my disappointment regarding the recent changes affecting gameplay in Germany. As a player from Germany, I know that the game was already rated 18+ by the USK without any restrictions on gore. The removal of core features like post-death ragdoll interactions and dismemberment animations feels unnecessary and takes away from the immersive experience that makes Darktide unique.

I’ve invested over 1,440 hours into the game and spent 860.77 EUR on Aquilas because I genuinely love what Darktide offers. The intense gore and violence aren’t just features—they’re integral to the Warhammer 40,000 universe and a big part of why many of us play.

I’ve created this forum account specifically to voice my concerns on this matter. Yes, I can use mods to re-enable these core elements, but relying on mods shouldn’t be the solution for content that was originally part of the game and already approved by our rating boards.

Unless all these restrictions are lifted—including the reinstatement of post-death ragdoll and dismemberment animations—I won’t be spending any more money on the game. I hope you reconsider these changes to keep the authentic experience that drew us to Darktide in the first place.

Thanks for listening.

I’m not sure they are listening, but I’m glad that I’m not the only one pissed with that ridiculous move. And no the partial revert back is not the “problem solved case closed” ending.
It’s preposterous whats going on here.

this, violence has its own aestethics and beauty to it while also adding weight, meaning and urgency to the world its portrait in.

violence isnt a matter of morale but a matter of physics.

physics that need to be believable as a cause and effect relation for when i hit something made from meat and bones with a 10kg hammer it not only falls flat on the floor but cracks, breaks, gets tossed around and absolutely does not stay in a neutral state.

the beauty of darktide in that case is the oomph weapons have on enemies like taking chunks of flesh out of their limbs with only nurgles gift keeping them moving.

zombies basically.

but with every good zombie flicks these carcasses need to be an unrelenting menace to convey the danger of not just being a slow stiff mummy.
they keep coming at you if just the tiniest joint, tendon or muscle allows for movement no matter the utter destruction the body suffers.

and that gets me basically to why i love ragdoll effects and the physical impact of surrounding actions on bodies, it gives them “presence”

and this “presence” aspect is why i love the 40k universe and darktide especially.
if i had the talent and patience i’d build me my own flying servo skull bringing me an aquila logo energy drink

It’s no schizo posting, CDProjekt Red’s CEO admitted nerfing the PC version of Witcher 3 because of consoles. Ubisoft nerfed the PS4 version of AC: Syndicate because MS pressured them for parity.

Well, then they should be honest at least one time and not scapegoat German laws that absolutely have nothing to do with this blunder in this case

How come “post-death ragdoll interactions” have been fine for the PC players in germany for about 2 years but suddenly became an issue?

you’d have to be blind to not realise a pc for 10x the prize of a mere console blowing it out of the water, it aint even the same game at some point.

were consoles struggle to uphold a measly 60 fps with settings that would range around low to mid, the main reason i’m even selling my life away at a full time job is buying a new rig whenever it suits me to play raytraced ultra settings at 144 fps.

and should the pc struggle at some newer game to constantly uphold that standard, it gets replaced.

now as for mods, i currently run a 500+loadorder on fallout new vegas that, while not 100% up to nowadays quality, propels the game so far out of what it once was, its basically a “new” fallout.
(yes 255 is the stable sweet spot, wabbajack and mod manager merge a lot to stay within the stable area and add 500+mods in total)

same with skyrim, fallout 4 etc.

once showed a modded skyrim to a playstation dude and a north korean in disneyland could not have had more sensorical overload.

new lighting, 4k textures, 144 fps (albeit sometimes unstable in term of ingame clock at the time)

dude stand jaw dropping to the floor.

days later he ditched the console, asked for a loadorder and bought a decent rig

sony wanting to downplay is like saying a trabant isnt worse than a custom tuned porsche 911

darktide feels so great in terms of combat fluidity cause pc was the lead platform and developers could adjust with proper hardware in mind.
not some 30-60 fps (most in the lower 40s) slideshow.

what pisses me off is dedicating my lifetime (literally) to obtain funds that afford me my greatest pleasure and passion and then have games downgraded before release to not melt consoles

(see witcher 3 promo material compared to release, took lotsa mods and reshades to make it look that way and guess what, even low end pcs couldnt run it let alone consoles.)
