It’s not really recent, they were doing it with VT2 with the UI menu changes, the big balance patch, etc. Unfortunately that they just… forgot everything (especially a lot of basic QoL) on the way to a new game.
I mean recent in the case of Darktide, sorry for the confusing wording.
Eventually. Maybe. XP
No, its a co-op game. Let people play how they want. If you do not like, do not use it.
Cope harder dude

I think this would be a healthier policy:
No mods that give players a direct combat advantage that is not present in the original scope of the game. On the low severity end of that spectrum is improving a players accuracy with a superior sight, and on the extreme end of that spectrum would be an aimbot or macro that exploits some unintended behavior (as discussed above). That said I think the weapon customization mod is awesome, but it should be limited to aesthetic changes, or changes that are in-line with the original weapons equipment. Modify a las-rifle with a different holo-sight? Great! Give a better sight to a weapon that was balanced with poor iron-sights in mind? Fowl play.
Very good take on it, I’d be fine with all this, as well as with FS integrating QOL mods into the game so everyone has access to the same advantages. Right now, modded players get advantages that non-modded players and console players don’t have, and that’s just wrong.
Console Players have aimbot to compensate. Don’t worry about it.
Unmodded players made the decision to be unmodded.
Of course an unmodded player doesn’t have the mods.
And last time I checked console players were not forced to play on console.
People are not born to be a console player.
What kind of argument is that?
You know what a mod is, right? Mod as in “Modification”?
The simplest explanation of a mod is “it adds something that wasn’t there before”.
Yeah and if its like 1% like VT2’s aim assist that’s actively sabotaging you lol. Mr Presidents but with the crosshair. That and the lack of keybinds is awful, like I guess its alright to have 7 presets but why no manual stick/button rebinds? My console friends complain the slide is like a Street Fighter input.
Dont be so mean >:(
Only mods that probably give the player too much of an advantage are healthbars and 3rd person, and 3rd person is mostly just for the added visibility.
I found landing headshots in 3rd person more difficult then in1st person when I tried it in the psykhanium. Thus the added situational awareness is kind of balanced.
Regarding the sights:
- where to draw the line? Iron sights also have different quality. On the Helbore for example the mk3 ironsights are arguably superior. Is that then cheating as well?
- what about bad internet connections? Darktide regularly reduces weapon models to Minecraft niveau. Then the iron sights on the helbore 1 and 2 go from a little more to sim to atrocious to use. The infantry Lasguns reflex sights also become a little harder to use but nowhere near as bad as the helbores.
I don’t use the sights because they don’t fit the spartanic flair of my death Korps troopers and for me personally immersion is paramount. However I have absolutely no problem if others mount reflex sights on their guns. I am not competing against my team and want them to mark their targets.
For the Emperor!
There’s plenty of mods that should be part of the game but if it’s not accessible to everyone as a default part of the game then it’s bs. That’s just it though, it’s just a mod. I think it’s an advantage but I don’t care use what you want.
