It has been three years since this game released (roughly). Solo mode was promised, and even espoused to be in the final stages of testing close to release. Yet here we are, April 2025; absolutely nothing like what we have in Vermintide 2: no solo mode where it’s you, and bots representing characters you make to take on missions without the hassle of possibly inconveniencing someone a bit more hardcore you might play with because of matchmaking.
I personally think this is insulting to many players that have been following the Tide series. Darktide is a sister game to Vermintide 2, it should have the same features; including a solo mode. In an age where singleplayer games are more alluring than ever, Darktide should at least find sense in actually working to implement it.
Hell, I even pre-ordered this game under the pretense that it would have that feature. Sure, I had fun with matchmade groups for a while; but it’s reached a point where the playerbase is worn thin and everything feels like ‘sweat or uninstall’ no casual inbetween.
So I don’t know what’s going on at Fatshark, but I hope this post can be a strong implore for the resumption of implementing a dedicated solo mode for Darktide players…or I guess Fatshark were indeed just being Fatliars this whole time.
Yeah, at this point as much as I want it to happen, asking for solo mode is more out of habit than actually expecting it.
And like, as great as playing with our other characters as bots or a true solo mode would be, I’d literally be happy with just being able to do a 1 human private lobby. I’d play Sedition with stock bots only if it meant actually getting a damn Solo Mode.
But I have a feeling that Strawhat’s recent thread where they acknowledge that people want information on the topic indirectly without saying they can say anything is probably the closest we’ll ever get.
not that i’m defending them but they did come out and say “it’s no longer a priority” which is corpospeak for “get fuccked buddy, refund if you can idiot”. that’s the answer. there isn’t silence, they answered and told us we’re not getting it.
it is messed up that they get away with it but what can you do? here’s what: don’t buy any cosmetics and don’t buy their next game until it’s finished
I only want solo mode so lvl 800+ stealth knife zealot tryhards can zog off there and get pounced by dogs so they can alt f4 as much as they want and leave normal people alone.
If we even get that 2nd hive city stuff they’ve been teaser’ing at since beta and slowly actually removing reference lines for instead while Brunt disappeared into a plothole I’d be surprised. Stuff like this is 100% a lie that’s never coming. Their line was ‘just use mods’ and then they brought it to 2 consoles. I guess they expect always online more there paying for it (again) already.
That’s just the thing though: The official word went from it being “almost finished” to “not a priority” with no actual info in-between. And even “its not a priority” is hardly a concrete statement about anything.
We don’t want vagueries and can-kicking. Even if the answer is a definitive “No, never going to happen.”, I just want a damn answer. I want to know how the hell a promised feature they once said was going to happen went from “almost finished” just before launch to “Not a priority.”, and beyond a shadow of a doubt if we well ever see it some day.
At this point I’d be happy if it ended up being a Vermintide 2 versus scenario where it comes out years later and isn’t very good, because at least the damn reason I bought the game happened.
This is exactly my issue. In one of these many, many, threads I claimed that “not a priority” isn’t an answer and was told “it is an answer, just not one you’re happy with”.
When I pointed out that in no industry is “it’s not a priority”, without an explanation, an acceptable answer to why a product wasn’t delivered or why a service wasn’t provided, the person conveniently stopped replying.
If you ordered a steak, with a side of potatoes and only received the steak and was told “they weren’t a priority” when you asked where the potatoes were, you wouldn’t accept that or pay for the meal.
If your boss asked you to complete a task and you only did a part of it and said “it wasn’t a priority” when they asked where the rest of it was, you probably wouldn’t have a job if you continued to remain silent.
But when it’s Fatshark doing it to us we’re supposed to say: “it’s an answer, just not one we’re happy with.”
I’m sorry, but f–k that. Fatshark is a service provider and we’re the customer. Whether they like it or not they owe us answers.
