So we always have to buy more premium currency then we need to buy premium stuff. Nice predatory tactic Fatshark. Tought you are better than this. Or maybe it's Tencent? Plus timer for FOMO

PC Gamer interview is so bizarre. Worth having a look in this thread if you all haven’t seen it.

General point about vitriol to an extent being angry is all the devs will really understand. You can ignore a customer that’s willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but enough people that want the problem solved and are vocal about it are bad PR that likely will never go away unless they are satisfied.

FS being a smaller/niche developer means they are more likely to be affected by this bad press. It doesn’t seem “fair” when all they are doing is industry standard, but part of being a small niche developer is built on “not being like the big guys” but unfortunately it’s just a matter of scale/time with these people as we see time and time again.

Well said most big companies do the same and also gets called for this things, but since their sales keep being pushed by the Common consumer that’s just consumes without criticizing or thinking much they can just ignore it, but fatshark may be not so lucky

The game is now at ‘mixed’ rating:

Who could have predicated that releasing an unfinished game with barebones features, shoddy performance, and an MTX shop on day one would have resulted in major customer backlash. Get your act together, Fatshark. More importantly stop treating us like a bunch of idiots.

First of all, where is a way to earn premium currency

The currency you get by completing those weekly challenges is considered a PREMIUM currency by fatshark, if I remember correctly they said that sire melk store would get cosmetics also not just weapons and curios,

Now pray tell what is the definition of ‘premium’ currency in this context? Can it be exchanged for real cash? If not then it’s just another derivative in-game currency.

People had valid complaints about the V2 crafting system, and there are some (including me) that felt the V2 crafting system was a step back from the one in V1.

Your point still stands though, they had years of feedback from both 1 and 2 about crafting. This setting and story is probably the most ideal situation for crafting in 40K, with an Inquisitor sitting above a hive city with major gun manufactoriums within it, with a Tech Priest on his retinue. ANYTHING they want is available.

Interesting is the wording.
He did not say “Premium (Aquilla) currency”.
Instead he said the truth about earning “In game currency” (wich you can).
But this makes me wonder if there are plans to buy this also then with “Premium (Aquilla) currency” at a later point.

They know exactly how to use the words.

You earn it by opening your wallet and throwing money at the screen, like a good little consumer.

Ooooo it’s an altercation now is it! It’s a good thing you’re the only one here not being dramatic then, not like all these other plebs!

I see you quoted me making simple observations, and insinuated drama without actually saying anything. Either you find puddles dramatic, or you’re being… gaspdisingenuous? Was that dramatic enough? I used mixed typefaces and everything.

But keep insisting I’m being dramatic I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Nope, nothing dramatic or hyperbolic here.

This is the cherry on top though. I made fun of your pomposity and the irony with which you make a huge deal about innocuous criticism of FS, while at the same time criticising people for being dramatic.

…and you turned around, pointed at it, and said “Aha! See! You’re being dramatic!”.

facepalm-picard

I will not work on a game that uses MTX practises I consider predatory. So far, nothing involving MTX at all. I don’t do this job because it makes big bucks; I made more in web dev - but websites are boring; an assessment reading your posts has certainly reinforced.

And just because you write like an insufferable tool, doesn’t mean you are one.

Actual nonsense. Binaric thinking. I don’t think I need to insult anyone’s intelligence by writing at length why this is stupid? The LSM depends on MTX. I have no problem paying FS for the good core product they made, undercooked as it is at launch. I would also not complain if the game dies in a year or two (or they had to find another way to support the LSM, like proper DLC) because people did not engage with the MTX. I got what I paid for, and it had nothing to do with their cash shop.

What will actually happen is almost certainly that people will spend enough money on overpriced tat to keep the game running.

I just said I won’t be one of them. I paid a fair price for the core game, which I enjoy. The two are quite extricable, despite your jaded waffling to the contrary.

Yes. It is everyone else being dramatic. Thank goodness we have you, our rational bedrock, to keep us grounded. Oh god - sorry, one sec - KEVIN PUT DOWN THE BLOWTORCH! WHERE DID YOU GET A CUBAN FLAG?! WHY IS THERE A SHARK ON IT?!

This is how a rational person talks. I think we should defer to this guy! Honestly, thank goodness someone is approaching this with calm, drama-free analytical indifference.

Getting rid of you sounds so active; I thought of it more like leaving a window open, and letting the smell of fresh deposit in my cat’s litter tray just… waft away. Though your bitter acridity does seems quite entrenched - perhaps on this occasion, there’s been a carpet incident.

Edit: Ahhh, censorship of opinions you don’t like - the last bastion of the rational and dispassionate mind!

I believe you should read more and write less - maybe that way your so-called replies might actually have anything to do with the things you quote.

I’d just like to point out that on steam you can’t even just buy the $2.49 pack because the minimum you can add to your steam wallet is $5.

It has nothing to do with you or individuals.
These are dark patterns, which are ONLY there to psychologically manipulate people. Of course not everyone is affected, but many and more. Plus it is BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE.
The same would be achieved with:

  • real money prices
  • sales

But no, FS added:

  • Premium Currency
  • timed skins
  • “need to buy more premium currency as needed and/or having some left”

these are DARK PATTERNS, because they have NO use for the player and are ONLY there to pressure and trick one in buying more stuff or at least more premium currency. Effects are among others FOMO, yes, but alone Premium Currency is just there to obscure ones spendings.
It has no use except this. There is no benefit for the players. It is malicious and shady only, really.

THAT’S the issue, not that “some are not affected by this” or “that one just do not need to use it”. Also, there are more people on this planet, you know? Why affect many in a bad way, when all be could be affected positively?
Also they had the best mode for this (real money, no timed skins) in Vermintide 2, their own game. Shame, really.

Such a Disgrace FatShark, Back to playing DRG I guess, How does Beijing Leather boots taste?

They also had sales too in Vermintide 2 for skins. So I’m baffled with how Darktide is being monetized. Did they really think they’d get away with this crap.

THIS.
So it’s bad x2 because you are left with Aquilas AND money in the Steam Wallet.

To be clear, the money in the wallet SHOULD be spend over time and not be lost or wasted, true, but the Aquilas one does not need/ which are not enough for another skin, will stay there until… the servers are down or at least until more are bought.
So effectively they charge more than needed, ineffective and bad practice really. I hope FS will change the premium shop or even trash it and use the VT2 shop (real money prices) again.

Just to be clear: SALES, but not timed skins. Sales are fine, so long ALL items are AVAILABLE, which were the case in VT2.
Here we DO NOT have all items available, only time-gated options, which is a mean trick and bad design (a dark pattern).

Still, yeah, I am also baffled, shocked really, what they pulled off. Especially because the game is SO MUCH FUN overall.
(At least so long it runs/ performance is ok, one gets the missions which one wants, etc. ;D)

Free content? You pay 40$ for this game minimum. What free content?
