So, just so everyone knows, we're not guaranteed the itemization update on the 25th

Even if it’s “ready” it’s not. FS hasn’t released well designed out of the box feature in years.

I don’t care enough about confusion/misunderstanding/lack of comprehension/combination thereof to create an exhaustive poll effectively asking people to partially dox themselves to give me, an apathetic moron with no background in socio-demographic analyses, enough data to make a poorly-informed conclusion even if I got a 100% poll rate.

I could likely make a similarly poor conclusion based on likes from within this post… but, as mentioned… I’m an apathetic sort.

FS attempted to convey (from the original statement) that an update to itemization was/is tentatively planned to be included with the update on June 25th… HOWEVER, they also plainly indicate that they’re working on it. Features undergoing active work/testing are obviously not guaranteed to ship (add to this that this is Fatshark we’re talking and the assumption should have been that they would likely not meet the desired launch date).

It was already clarified further.

It’s weird to see so many people interpreting that statement differently, but whatever. This is why we’re all gloriously unique, or some such platitude.

This is exhausting.

…?

Dude, there’s a poll option in this forum - look under the gear icon when you write a new topic, it’s called ‘Build Poll’. If getting the data is so important, just put up a poll with a couple options about how they read the post before finding out the clarification. I don’t know where you’re getting doxxing or anything from.

You’re clearly not grokking what I’ve typed. That’s fine.

All I can say is that the exact phrasing/interpretation issue ITT makes lawyers a LOT of money. And trust me when I say the correct meaning of words isn’t multiple choice in law. If you were to sell someone a ticket to a yet-to-be-opened amusement park that says:

We are still working on the food stalls for the free meals part of the ticket and we’ll give you more info on what meals there will be later!

Then it would be 100% clear, cut and dry that you promised free meals with the ticket. Doesn’t matter if you were working on them at the time.

That said it’s not really a relevant enough topic to argue about like this. In the end it doesn’t matter what it said since it’s cleared up now thanks to hank. It’s just not really an actual debate and it pains me to see people treating it like one. Once the meaning of a sentence becomes subjective is when you can no longer actually reasonably talk about anything.

The only thing I hope for when it comes to the itemisation / crafting debacle is that Fatshark has LEARNT the lesson, will address the issue sufficiently and will cease to include anti-player / malicious game systems in their games. All that design and dev time spent, only to hurt their playerbase numbers and game impressions.

To be fair, I’m still “working on” my marriage.

It’s been a 22 years work in progress, but the main thing is that it happened and wasn’t vapourware. I’ve had many patches along the way, some updates (two kids), some holidays … though admittedly NONE as long as FS employees seem to get, some balance patches (I’m now in the minority in the relationship where my vote is definitely less than my wife’s).

That said, I’m still trying to get that perfect level of itemisation. The best part maybe though is that I don’t come up against the brick wall’s of Melk, Brunt, or Hadron in my life.

 PS I’m with @kambrin and I read it that it would be coming this patch. That’s how the English reads. Not that I’m going to get too mithered if it doesn’t.

That is not true. They are working on crafting (great news). And it is currently in testing…

“And.”

They are working on a Dev blog.

They are two separate things and it maybe that crafting update gets released with the dev blog coming later.

So I would take it as face value… Teh crafting is at testing stage, so way down the line and also there will be a dev blog at some point too so we can share things with you.

People really need to stop adding things that were never said, as all it does it create expectation that were never said, resulting in people crying and going off on one on the forums.

What are you even trying to say?

That they might release an update before the dev blog? :upside_down_face:

Pal, it’s Fatshark. If there’s anything Ragnarok’s Great Book of Grudges proves, it’s that we can’t trust anything they say - literally anything - until they do it.

They could say “We have absolutely everything ready to go, you’re gonna get this and that and the other thing on June 25th, this is how it works and this is what it will do” and there’s a chance it’ll get delayed/changed/cut before that time with no explanation other than some Discord moderator saying “Oh yeah sorry we scrapped that/it’s not a priority/technical issues” or whatever.

Yes, there’s no guarantee of a late June crafting release. But there never was. There never is. Fatshark is so murky and poorly coordinated that I’ve stopped giving them any benefit of the doubt. Now, it’s just doubt.

It gets me every time how it took a discord moderator to confirm stuff instead of the actual developers or CMs working for Fatshark.

Ah, there you are! Was wondering where the regulars at one of my digital haunts had gone.

Yeah, it sucks that it takes a discord moderator to communicate anything nowadays. AH, how long has it been since we’ve seen CM or Dev comms here on the forums that arent a patch announcement or the lukewarm Skulls post?

I would say they’ve learned to improve on the whole ‘don’t say you’re going to do something and then change plans without informing anyone’ bit, but Retroactive Penance Completion didn’t work last month, so they’ve got some work to do.

The most irritating part is how simple it is.

People are mostly understanding when you say plans change, especially if you can give a non-evil reason for it. For example, the attachment system: if Fatshark had said they found it made balancing difficult/progression too grindy, and implemented instead a system that wasn’t either of those things, nobody would be mad about what we ended up getting.

Instead they told us nothing, failed to have crafting on launch, and when they delivered it was nothing like what they said it was - to the point of contradicting the dev blog written about it.

Fatshark has not mastered the very simple art of telling the truth to people and doing it often. I think it’s a sign of poor leadership.

They’ve perfected the art of quantum statements.

You can only confirm if it’s a lie or truth by observing. You have no way of knowing until it happens.

Honestly, same and I think as a community that we are, generally, aware that the regular working stiffs at Fatshark aren’t at fault here and that they have weak leadership, and that gets communicated whenever they say anything that falls flat.

Leadership is worried about comms because they’re anxious about whether or not it’ll reflect on them and it does.

Can we focus more on how I’m a co-author of the Ogrynomicon instead? (Go check it out if you haven’t already)

The only fault I’d ascribe the ‘working stiffs’ is that the ‘largest team that takes up an entire floor’ apparently can’t produce more than minor cosmetic fixes and the occasional fix to bugs they created. And even that’s only if it’s actually true that Darktide has the resources dedicated to it that Aqshy says they do.
