So, how'd you get to rank 40 on Havoc?

Eh, I could see Zealot Knife speedrunning being a plausible way of doing it too, to be honest, especially on a map like Archivum Sycorax.

rather thought of it under a “pleasant to view” aspect… you know the aesthetic of the flow
sure you can “aint nobody got time for that” too… but darktide so far has been the pleasant experience that it is for its incredible combat design and almost cinematic situations.

which for example can be a good clutch as well.

but yes, zealot “can” go zoom

this was one of our runs to get 40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox0dzY6XAbw
but this one we got true survivor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZgi4UljSgo

Was sick during the first two weeks of Havoc’s release.
Now whenever I look at the party finder theres at most 2 parties and normally people only stick around for one run to get that checkmark for the weekly and call it a day.
After a few instances of trying to cobble together players for 15-20 minutes per session only for the lobby to immediately disband afterwards or worse, to have the server die, I just gave up on ever getting to 40 and all that, Between this and my immense dislike of the way difficulty is set up in that mode.

fatshark managed to turn the highlight of my day, the game i looked forward to through the grueling workday, into something i want to get over with despite loving the combat system of darktide still the most.

instead its checking off that weekly box after many tries in the abysmal party finder that is often times completely empty or filled with the “essential classes”

and after that, right now stalker 2 gets the majority of my playtime :man_shrugging:

So, getting 40 was rather okay. I did it partially with premade and with randoms, with obvious results: premade was generally faster. We played usually as:
Ogryn with new Stubber / Vet with anything (for normal shooters and specials)
Psyker with Bubble
Zealot with Chorus
And either another Zealot, Psyker or Ogryn, depends.

What was tricky, was the True Survivor. I survived multiple Havoc 35+ games, but somebody (or me) was always down at least once.

Then I played a random game as psyker and finally got it. But that is not all. The team I played with was so excellent, that I finished the run without taking any health damage.

I got hit or got chip damage, but was always either saved by teammates or the “golden toughness”.
The whole run was excellent, the guys I had in the team were frankly better players than I was, but at the end of the day, we got it as a group.
I recorded the whole experience, but sadly Steam Beta bug removed all audio from my footage. I still have it though

Edit:
@Ryshek
Obscure soundtrack? Maybe Flubber (1997)?
Anyway, here is the vid with Darktide soundtrack, which I consider to be a blast.

Post it and just include a soundtrack from some obscure 90s movie

I got my true survivor with randoms on archivum on 35. Really great run.

I also almost got it with a buddy that didn’t have it yet on a 40 also on archivum but a psyker blew himself up after the final objective was completed…

A premade will probably make it easier but it’s possible without.

I was hoping to hear some smash mouth and or ska bands.

our group was one of the first to get true survivor. its not too hard with the right people. you just have to know where to group up and funnel enemies. id highly advise not getting true survivor in random pubs. not saying this isnt possible necessarily just more of a pain in the ass. the vid almost has 40k views as well. check it out if you havent.

dakrtide: WORLDS FIRST HAVOC 40 AND TRUE SURVIVOR.

that’s it, with the right people. pubs vs premades are pretty much 2 different worlds. it’s not impossible with pubs, but it can be terribly frustrating.

Literally… this. Over last year, I’ve become more & more anti-pub Darktide. I just cannot do it anymore… 90% are just absolutely horrible! 8% are pretty solid & the last 2% are god-tier players. Anything new in Darktide that comes out like Havoc, etc… I’m just lucky to a have very close group of buddies for my pre-made to conquer the new stuff.

I’ve even made a large rant post awhile back about how I hate pubs. It got like 1.6k views too: The Drastic Decrease of Quality Players! - Warhammer 40,000: Darktide / General Discussion - Fatshark Forums

I’ve seen it when it was posted. My favorite part is the BOOK ZESTY, BOOOOK! It tickled my funny bone.

I’ve gotten True Survivor 3 times with different teams in random pubs. The problem is just many people try to force the no-death clear, when in truth you cannot “go for the True Survivor”. You either get it randomly after everyone played their best, or you don’t.

Most people also need to learn to ALWAYS pre-buff in Havoc 35-40. I hate Psykers and Zealots who use their shield/relic only when somebody loses all of their toughness. The whole point of Havoc is chaining one ultimate into another, so that you have golden toughness the majority of the teamfights.

Pretty much… I play in a very close group of buddies in a pre-made. I actually know 2 of them IRL at my job. Sort of by pure luck & happenstance. When we went from 16-40, we weren’t even thinking about ‘True Survivor’ at all didn’t even cross our minds. Honestly, didn’t even know that penance existed until we all got it. We’re pretty damn solid at the game, so we eventually got it purely by accident. Then later on found out it was a big deal. Although, I don’t really care about titles much lol. My real grip about the title is that I found out some people have gotten it dying from full-corruption DMG & instant-death, so that it wouldn’t be counted in the downed-state. Kind of a huge bummer, but still… this is probably rare anyway. They really should change it to any downs or deaths to solve the problem. Honestly, I’m a pretty hardcore player myself. It’s somewhat rare that I’m seeing people with that title at all which is a good sign at the very least. All I see now is the a.s.s. title everywhere… Which makes me a bit nauseous.

There is no easy way to say it… I’ve got carried. Highest I could realiably get with this combo:

(when being honest with myself and God Emperor) was Havoc 35 (it’s always toxgass and shenanigans ensue).

My sins?
Worst mobility in the group.
3rd in terms of being down (1st in terms of being dead - I’ve always karked up at worst possible moment).
Mobility, mobility and one more time mobility.
Also tunnel vision and lack of awareness where the hell is my team when I’m on the front line or rear guard.
Havoc 40 seems like “My personal last stand” simulator for me.
Thank the Emperor for the Zealot who yelled what to do every time when I’ve got lost in the carnage.

“Lt. We are moving! Get your ass back here!”
“Focus People! Stick together!”
“Loose the Bolter and get the Plasma next time - got bad ammo economy” ( :frowning: )

It didn’t help though. He was alone at that elevator because stupid Vet (Hello Davin here, have we met?) tried to push through to the fallen psyker with 1 grenade and VoC still on cooldown. You can guess how that turned out…

i was extremely lucky finding a team that worked well even without voice chat.

one of those rare encounters when the stars align proper and each playstyle contributes to each others.

dudes made the attempt clear, i did my best to play defensive and it all worked out in the end.
with guys like that even 40 & randoms is doable.

on the other hand, these factors are so far and wide in between, not matching with the free time i got for playing over the week, that havoc might as well be not there at all considering randoms.

the more time passes it seems more and more ill-prepared people spill over into havoc, yesterday had a 40 fail under 5 minutes due to sheer idiocy that would lead to an instant clutch in any “normal” game mode like maelstrom or HISTG.

only there its still salvageable…

the frustrating part is while i try to get the most quality matches for upload and actually something to show for, i need to resort to a volatile/random mixture of players, not having access to 2 (and even scheduling with my buddy proves troublesome most of the time) more people playing at hours of the day i actually got free time.

this sometimes ends with 3 hours put in, some nice scenes here and there but overall fails cause dudes blew it, whereas before i could still clutch my way through to completion getting stuff together for the collection…

making stuff more demanding is great, making premades mandatory is defacto locking out a huge portion of the playerbase that individually does possess the necessary skill, just not able to compensate certain gameplay modifiers all on his own as before…

Use Weapon Specialist with Power Sword, it improves the mobility quite a bit. Also mark 6 Power Sword is better, because of push attack that kills nearly any enemy in one weakspot combo (push attack + two light attacks). Although I’d personally never use Power Sword on Havoc, it’s too sluggish with constant special attack spamming.

Also Surgical on Bolter is a better pick for Havoc. Three weakspot crits from Surgical kill a Crusher, but if you hipfire Bolter you need half the clip to kill one. Surgical helps to conserve ammo, and it kills nurgle-blessed gunners with inflated HP pools much quicker.
